Hell hath no fury.
loads of people can voice their opinion. sometimes they can be wrong or too early but doesnāt mean people have to get total toxic and fight amongst each other awfully, At least not in the post of others. at least if it wasnt a total useless post entirely.
Having a wrong opinion is fine. Most people do it. Though I personally have never tried it ![]()
But when you sign off with āwhat in the fuck guysā I believe thatās an open invitation to toxic replies. Not sure about you but if people spoke to me about my job the way the average mouth breather here talks about the devs, Iād have a chip on my shoulder the size of Kilimanjaro.
The update was not postponed⦠itās February 21st. There is plenty of time for them to be right on time. What is wrong with you?
oof that was a lot to read so i started to skim butā¦
tldr;
small studio, limited budget
I agree. Iād rather see them take a few more days and actually test and kill bugs before it goes to production.
well, 6 days to go. thatās time for one patch to drop.
Not a lot of time to correct any issues it has thoughā¦
Seems like one of those āall the eggs in one basketā situations that we were warned about.
Hereās hoping that the patch is perfect. ![]()
Every update has come in the fjnal week of the month , why was your expectations that this month would be sooner
I think there were a lot of expectations to be met here, and sliding in a single patch at the very end of the month may not be the best way to address them.
Considering the vast volume of bugs and different kinds of bots alone, while completely ignoring any attempts at balance, the expected fixes that they said they were bringing us are a very tall order.
One of the well known ways of solving large intricate problems like that is to break it down into component parts that are small enough to deal with and then knocking the small bits out until the entire thing is fixed.
Its a sort of divide and conquer strategy, and it can be very useful when coding to deal with bugs in that way, if they can be isolated from each other.
You could also use that method to show incremental progress towards your goal, and if you had say a large playerbase of people waiting expectantly to see progress, that would be super helpful. You would have something to point to and go āhey look I heard about your issues and I am resolving them like this oneā
At the moment we donāt even have a day to point at and say āthis is when the magic bullet of a patch will arriveā and weāre left to speculate.
Good things do not come of us speculating based on stuff like āwell its still february, surely that informs usā. Effectively, we have no current data points, and not a lot of good track record to go on, so itās entirely reasonable that people might be curious.
where has that been said
Come on man. There are a million things to hammer AGS on but let them take their time on a patch and try to get it right. Donāt bash them for that. Who knows we all may have our socks knocked off when it finally comes.
im of the opposite opinion.
i dont care if the patch gets delayed IF it actually fixes the bugs they promised to fix.
rushing shit out is what caused this whole mess to begin with.
Iām not bashing them for it⦠yet.
I would prefer not to bash them at all, but if that single patch weāre probably going to get doesnāt live up to expectations then itās real hard not to say something snide about their methods.
I actually lost count of how many times we got a copy pastaād āWeāll be focusing on that in Februaryās bugs bots and balance updateā as our only response when there were hundreds of bugs and issues brought up in threads on this forum for the last many weeks.
It started to feel like they were just waving their hands and saying āthis is all a dream, there are no issues, itāll all go away when you wake up in marchā
If we wake up, its march and all the issues are still there, itās going to be real spicy around here.
For now Iām just highlighting the apparent fact that they are putting a lot of eggs in one basket and that, for a variety of reasons, this is usually a bad idea. Iād much rather be 100% wrong than right in this case, because right means I have to deal with game breaking bugs for another month.
I want them to do well, but they are not setting themselves up for success by sticking to a static patch schedule and jamming everything into one go.
Its not like this is a console game where its going to cost them thousands of dollars for every patch they push because of the various software delivery services being involved, and Sony or Microsoft having to vet stuff.
Thereās not a compelling reason that I know of to stick it all in one package at the end of the month, instead of rolling out a group of smaller patches over time intended to target specific issues.
One method would give them much more flexibility when dealing with bugs and more insight into what change caused what problem. When you jam it all into one big omnibus patch, youāre left with a lot of code changes that could have been the culprit and this impedes you when it comes to fixing stuff that didnt work perfectly on the first try.
When it comes to coding, nothing comes out perfect on the first try. The more complicated it is, the more often it comes out far from perfect.
Splitting out the issues into smaller manageable chunks helps keep it simple. And keeping it simple is the only way to deal with spaghetti code unless you want to tear out your hair and not sleep at night.
The problem here is the following: Until now at every patch (that was based on the PTR) nothing meaningful was added after the last PTR update.
Looking now at the PTR notes only shows that 90% of the essential bugs and problems that needed to be fixed are not in their ābig bugfixā monthly update. And many of them are active since the closed beta and impact many players every day. So Iām not surprised how most people are extremly sceptical.
They should have started with fixing the base game from things extensively reported since both betas instead of just fixing only their blunders from the last two months.
Yeah dude I completely get why youāre pissed off. Lots of people are and for good reason. Iām just waiting patiently for the notes and actual patch to see how it goes. You have to admit though they do seem to be getting better which is at least a good sign. Iām willing to give them some time but fully realize others may be at the end of their ropes.
no bug if we see little i will go buy gold because they could take a half a year but without a new team in general nothing going to change the team is complete shit and needs to go and another brought in and payed better and someone with actually experience in play games no just coding them
The January patch arrived at the end of the month, so it makes sense that the February patch would be the same. The real problem is that there has been ZERO communication regarding it. Like⦠this is a MAJOR update and they are fixing ALOT of bugs, so why not make an announcement or press release to create some excitement and reassurance?
But it doesnt mean that!!
This time it doesnt mean that.
And just as many feared it is just a disappointing copypaste of the PTR notes. Nothing added in the last 10 days.
