Thank you Ser Troll the Ryan for gracing us with your presence today. The exit is there on the other side of the bridge. Don’t let the shit-stained water hit you on the way out.
P.S. It is only mid-afternoon where I live. I mentioned in my post that I am based in Asia Pacific and play on an AP server, which you obviously didn’t even bother to read before commenting.
My friend, I know that the forum troll thing caused so much hype. But this guy is not a troll. He made a detailed post about issues. Obviously he’s very pissed off but he’s not 100% wrong here. Forum troll is when someone comes under your post and say bad stuff just to make you mad.
If I was a dev, I’d just ban bots so they can buy new accounts. That’s enough revenue. Certainly just a few mill per week from that.
And I’d make the server transfer $39.99, ya’ll think twice before changing to a new champ in a more populated server. Why else would the player cap be 2k? Server capacity? What happen to AWS servers?
This is a weird complaint things being off for a month then adjusted (not because broken) is actually fast for a game dev…like honestly most MMOs only make changes in 3-6-12 month intervals so you’re stuck with any bad changes for as little as 3 months and as much as a year.
I don’t want to bash the devs and I hope they fix this soon. We are all ppl who make mistakes.
The change to OPR was indeed for the worse. Before there was actually good gameplay, I don’t eve have problem with brutes or anything. But now instead of enjoying the fights and strategy, I’m forced to spend 5-10 minutes PvE farming score before I can get into real thing. And by that time, the match is usually already decided. OPR is awful right now and it needs to be changed.
Personally I also disagree raising cost for brutes. Nobody has time to farm 750 azoth, so the whole mechanic will become obsolete. If they want change, they should have just make brute weaker.
Devs don’t decide the priority of issues to fix or content release. Management and sometimes technical leadership does.
There is probably a roadmap out there that certain content releases have to be done. And, it is being prioritized over bug fixes and quality assurance. This speaks for itself as you can see the results with each patch release.
What we are seeing here is an age old story of having the wrong priorities when it comes to a software company. They are not listening to the customers. They are out of touch with the real in game issues.
And, if they are not. Then they have ulterior motive or some form of cost benefit analysis to justify their current failures.
I bet that a lot of people would of just been happy if they had focused on fixing current issues. At least then, the playability of the game would increase. But, with each patch, more bugs are released that layer onto the previous ones and it is smothering gameplay.
Everything they have done so far indicates that they need more time. All of these added grinds and time gates. They really don’t have to do that. It does not add to gameplay. It is just reframing existing content so that it takes longer.
So, who knows, maybe six months from now, everything will be addressed. But, it is certainly taxing on a large number of players.
The first 300 hours of the game was worth it. I got my moneys worth. The other 700 hours I spent, not so much. Perhaps in 6 months there might be reason to revisit this game again.
But, I certainly cannot invest more time in this. There are plenty of other games to play that provide fun instead of constant frustration.
to be fair, they dont only work on one thing at a time. A group may be working on weapon bugs and another may be working on desync issues. The weapon bug group may find a fix and implement it and many others before the desync group is able to. Should they hold back bug fixes for the many other bugs until they fix the bug you are looking for them to fix as your top priority? I get your frustration. I want them all fixed. But, we cant use the fact that they are fixing bugs as an argument against them fixing bugs we deem more important. The easier fixes are just easier to fix. It doesnt mean they arent concurrently working on the harder fixes.
You can’t fix or adjust the whole game at once and YOU called the devs out as essentially doing nothing not me. To say they have no sense of urgency when they…
Re-Did the end game leveling system
Have fixed numerous bugs
Re balanced end game content adding more level 66 zones.
Did several balance passed
Added more content to the 1-59 leveling content including fleshed out quest chains and a new NPC group.
Added a very very beefy event for the winter
Have been communicating with the player base constantly.
Etc.etc.etc.
…Just makes you sound like a spoiled brat to call them out as lazy or not caring because how dare they stop making the game 24/7 for 2 weeks and leave some changes simmer that YOU personally have a higher priority for then they did.
This game has a ton of problems due to its no doubt forced to early release but the devs having no sense of urgency isn’t one of them.
Not even mentioning the stupid overpowered Brutes. If one team farms 2 of them they gonna win the game 80% of the time. They’re so stupid that even when my team spawns a Brute that stupid NOC can block the doors of an Outpost impeding me and my teammates to enter it for serveral seconds. The only PvP focused mode of the game have more PvE aspects than PvP.
Another thing to mention is the stupid downed state. More than 50% of my kills doesn’t count to me because when I down someone there’s always another person around to steal the kill. Ridiculous
Most people know that there are multiple teams at AGS working on different things at the same time. That doesn’t diminish the fact that time is finite, and time spent by a team working on something like the combat buffers or bow animation cancel change means that the team isn’t working on something like the stamina stutter bug or server performance issues.
Were there massive complaints that the combat in New World was too fast paced and needed to be slowed down with the combat buffers? There were some complaints about the bow animation cancels, but there were even more complaints about the changed OPR scoring system, of which the threads started coming in as early as the Christmas holidays. Yet the upcoming patch contains a bow animation cancel fix, while there is still no mention of any fixes or reverts to the OPR scoring system. Can’t fix it? Reverse the damn thing to an earlier state before the flawed change. Why leave players stuck with an OPR that gives a diminished experience compared to the earlier versions? Fixing something as minute and non-impactful as the bow animation cancel is more important than fixing a core game feature like OPR?
Your post if I boiled it down to less of a rant is…
They changed OPR you dont like it
There is still bugs
Server performance in combat isn’t the best
Therefore devs don’t care have no sense of urgency.
But that same line of logic complete ignores the ridiculous amount of not easy to make changes and bug fixes they have done.
You are absolutely allowed to be not happy at the state of the game…The PUBLISHER (Amazon not AGS) clearly forced this game our to soon (a common problem in gaming).
However… specifically what you’re complaining about like them daring to take a few weeks off for holidays to be with their families after no doubt working near 24/7 up through December since launch is the exact kind of consumer behavior that justifies game companies to do crunch etc in the first place.
I’m suggesting you redirect your vitrol to the correct people (the publisher) and cut the devs who have made a LOT of major changes ridiculously quickly (that I listed in the previous reply) some damn slack instead of essentially calling them lazy.
you’re complaining about like them daring to take a few weeks off for holidays to be with their families
Which part of my post complains about them having the audacity to take time off during the holidays?
essentially calling them lazy
What i said is: Why do you prioritize doing things like fixing bow jump animation cancels when there are so many other things that are in urgent need of improvement?
Reading is obviously difficult for you.
I’m suggesting you redirect your vitrol to the correct people (the publisher)
Sure, give me the fora or platform on which I can direct my complaints to the publisher and I will be on my way.
You are absolutely allowed to be not happy at the state of the game
Then leave my post alone if you are not in agreement with it. I am not allowed to vent my frustrations and unhappiness with the state of the game here? Or direct those frustrations towards the people who have the best chance of impacting the game state because of their job scopes? Who made you boss of this forum?
Their priorities are based on more than your/our desires. You have no clue what they are working on and what is involved to solve those issues. One thing can affect another in ways that, at times, they don’t even realize until they get into it. Armchair devs are the worst.
what if they have two separate teams working on these concurrently and the bow team fixed their issue first because it was a simpler solution and the desync issue just happens to be more complex. Adding that bow team to the desync team might actually make matters worse as more people working on the same code doesnt necessarily mean better coding or results and often times results in more frustration than productivity.
That combat buffer was meant to exist from day 1. Both the axe and hammer have these “buffers” baked into most of their attacks. I would love a smooth experience where it felt like I was swinging my axe in motion. But that is not the combat AGS wants. Sure, I agree, it feels bad. But it is how AGS intended it to be.
they are damned if they do and damned if they dont here. If they revert the change and OPR is plagued with bots again then people complain. If they leave it the way it is people complain. If they rework the scoring, people complain. They cant please everyone. I would love for them to revert the great axe changes (aside from the left click lunge fiasco) and move forward with their smaller balancing approach they claim to be going with. But imagine how the bow users would flood the forums with unproductive posts then. I would also love for them to address the gear section of the inventory ui or the trading post ui. But we have no control over how they prioritize and manage their workload and teams (plural).
We have to accept that the game is in a state of being unfinished. They claim to be working on getting things in order. The ptr patch notes indicate that some progress is being made. They have until february patch to show me what they can do.
That is clearly a complaint learn to read your own writing, they didn’t ‘disappear’ they were on break as devs should be during a holiday considering how much we know almost any major studio game dev works outside of that time frame.
Reading isn’t difficult your words “I have never seen a group of devs move with less urgency than AGS does” that implies they somehow are resting not emphasizing things…VS they just aren’t taking care of what YOU care about. Those are 2 different things…maybe you should learn to make a proper constructive argument perhaps.
Go tweet at Bezos or https://twitter.com/ajassy who is actually the guy that would probably be pushing for release of the game to soon. He’s had whole interviews about amazon games so he clearly has a lot of say in what and when they do things.
Just because you’re allowed to have an opinion and feel a way doesn’t mean I can’t criticize how you went about it and tell you you could ABSOLUTELY BE MORE CONSTRUCTIVE AND NOT BE A DICK TO THE DEVS FOR UPDOOTS.
