mages. yes i’m talking about mages.
now think about all the contents in the game. mage has handicap in every single one of them.
i used to play since the beginning, it first hit me when tanks bruisers and healers were just chilling with voidbent set(void set is OP AF during the beginning, think about it) and everything meanwhile we mages had nothing
then it hit me second time when i realize there is literally not even 1 single good int-con accessory for mages whatsoever meanwhile ALL OTHER classes have BIS or close to BIS ones. especially str users but not limited to because there are also perfect focus-dex accessories right now. so you could have your almost bis set during the first time of the game with dungeon drops + void set meanwhile we mages were wandering around faction gear and stuff. it still same to this day btw. in fact str users even have true BIS helmet from tempest. raiders helmet, check it out (this is all about pvp)
over time, there was a magical time where fire-ice was doing fine. it was actually really strong. good times right? guess what, we got gutted like there is no tomorrow and it happened fast. we were gutted so hard that since that day fire staff didnt even see the sunlight ever again during wars. to this say still in dry tree server no guild ever accepts any fire staff to war rosters. it’s THAT bad. doesnt matter what item you have or how BIS your set 's. even the minor weird buffs didnt matter at all
now we are stuck with only void ice which doesnt even really give the mage vibe. due to nature of those weapons you have to play very close, almost like a melee so you can do something. like, no one actually spams ranged attacks from far away. imagine a mage class in a game where you better not play ranged. why? because butthurt director dont like getting attacked from range so even a mage better should play close so that he can reach them if he wants to. idk i cant think of any other reason. muskets bows are meme anyway so they dont matter.
like these all not enough, now every week im like ok lets see how deep im gonna get fucked by mutations because obviously the whole mutation concept works against only mages, its fire or void mutations, and corrupt mobs already resist ice. a mage has 3 weapons and all 3 of them are straight up countered almost always(i almost cried when we had a week where genesis didnt have fire resistance. i felt like a regular player for 1 week. it was amazing). yes you can change to something else and play but thats not the point. my point is why the fuck mage always has the short stick? why? what do you want from us? do those mutations ever come as slash mutation or something like they are super resistant to void or fire? no? guess why?
you think im done? hell no, did you know elemental aversion ALSO decrease skill dmg? and that bug is around for so long. imagine phys aversion also decrease melee dps dmg, you know what would happen? that bug wouldnt see the sunlight next day. but when its mage, fuck it, who cares right? let the mages suffer.
seriously, who the fuck ever the director is, ok i get it you play ga/wh, but do you have to let it effect your whole development process this much? wtf is this hate? did you lose your every single duel so that you hated it so much or what? whats your deal man? what do you want from mages? whats your problem with fire staff? i can barely hit anyone with fire staff only if i go full int or something and full bis items, otherwise its completely trash and even then it doesnt worth at all.
i rarely talk about balance stuff, its mmorpg shit happens but TO THIS EXTENT, i just dont get it. the game is bullying the class on purpose on every single chance that it has. mages are handicapped in all pvp and pve aspects. like, the most classical and signature skill meteor which is pretty much the most threatening skill in almost all mmorpgs for mages, in new world meteor is a fucking meme. i cant even comprehend the thought process behind this.
