I keep dying at level 60

Hey guys,
I leveled to 60 with bow and gs without having too many issues, only on elite monsters zone.

Now that i reached 60 and im in Brimstone i keep dying to random monsters, i feel the bow great for single target but when there is more than one monster it gets hard.

I tried also a int build with ice/fire and ice/void but its difficult to mantain the monsters on the damage areas and away from you.

Sure you can argue that im bad at the game, im a casual player and i hope to get advice from you guys, what im doing wrong or new build idk.

thank you

PvE and PvP build is not the same.

For PvE you need Heavy Armor and 150 CON, and you should not have any problem. And maybe not play Bow when multiple enemies attack you. Just use Greatsword.

Your gear score is probably very low.

Brimstone needs 550 to really do much. 600+ is more ideal.

Brim is a very unforgiving zone.

Dont call them monsters, they have feelings too. Maybe they even get upset and that is why they kill you

Keep the distance. Light armor and use light armor and bow mobility. All mobs have some attacks you can see and you can use to get distance and shot at them. Range weapon is easy in open world pvp. Mele is way harder if you dont have some crazy sustain built in.

The entirety of brimstone should be viewn as elite zone, aka group content. Even I as 625gs player struggle there in some places when I go solo.
Though I found that going as LS/VG drastically increased my survivability. Lifestaff keeps my health up and Voidgauntlet I use to kill the ancients

Most of the ranged mobs in Brimstone are pretty dangerous too. Ancient archers have a rapid shot that hits incredibly hard. Corrupted archers can land their aoe on you while being barely visible, which is ok if its just the archer but is pretty rough if you’re distracted in a fight with other mobs. Lost archers alert at a long range and are kind of squirrelly, and its really easy to end up with several on you at once in Neapolis or the Great Bazaar.

@Suevo if you struggle with mobs use a Greatsword with the perk trenchent recovery, every heavy hit from this weapon restores 40% of the damage done as life for you. Also try to find a ring with lifesteal and an amulet with devine.

This will help you greatly soloing PVE content. You can also look for an greataxe or Hammer with tranchent recovery.

If this isnt enough for you to survice consiger upgrade to medium or heavy armor instead. Light users have to dodge alot of hits because Ancient bowman will kill you in arround 2 Hits.

If this also isnt enough keep an eye on your gear, there is a perk calles XXXX Ward. So you take less damage from specific monster type. Ancient Ward for most enemys in Brimstone.

But i can asure you with the right setup you are able to solo all Brimstone content including elite zones and bosses. Just takes enough life leech and ward + armor.

Critical comeback (Onslaught) with Keen Posture is also very good for health recovery.

As silly as it sounds…if you are just running around solo (unflagged), just wear heavy armor and deal with the outgoing damage reduction…well, I mean… not getting the outgoing damage bonus. If your gear score is below 600…might should get that up first. Otherwise, it is totally doable in medium…and even light…it just scales the difficulty. Honestly, the archers in BS make LA kinda rough.

Good suggestion. OP might what to make sure they are taking advantage of as much “sustain” as possible from the GS.

Drop the GS for now and go with spear. At least you will have some form of CC when they get to melee range.

In the beginning I ran heavy for survivability. Once dodging became second nature I switched to light and have never looked back. I use bow/spear. When you get the perks/gems/runeglass configured, all but the elite zones should be doable. Play style is just as important as equipment. If your dodging is “dodgy”, stay with heavy until you get better skills and weapons.

Bows do not work to good for crowd control. Too slow reload. Great Axe, Great Sword, Spear, Hatchet and sometimes War Hammer are much better in the right hands.

Youtube is your friend. Go there often. Tons of “how to” New World videos.

It’s definitely this. Even at nearly max gearscore, I can die pretty easily in Brimstone if I’m not careful (probably in part because of being in light armor, too).

Personally, I love the fact that overworld mobs can actually kill me. It’s far more interesting than just plowing through hordes of baddies like some superpowered hulk.

you do not need heavy armor for pve lol

Heavy armor fits my playstyle. Press Mouse1 to attack and Key1 for Health Potion. If the monsters wants to hit me thats okay.

Rolling around with Light armor like Dark Souls / Elden Ring is not fun to me.

it might fit your play style but it’s not needed like you said

use TROUPHIES & WEAPON COATS.

Few things you can do to make it much easier.

If you aren’t good at I-framing then perhaps grab some medium or heavy armor to have better mitigation.

Mostly though just search the market for a GS (since you already playing bow/gs) that has “trenchant recovery” perk on it and enjoy healing back most of the damage you take. It really does make PVE so much easier it’s ridiculous.
