I left the game in the middle of a Gear Score train I organize

I’m a fairly fresh 60. I enjoyed the living process to 60, I rushed it quite a bit, hitting max level around day 8.

The Gear Score grind was what broke me.

Not because of the RNG, or the time gating, but for the fact that the most optimal way for me to raise my watermark, was to spam chat and organize a daily train clearing Myrk > Mines > Sirens > Endless Pool > Malevolence > Imperial Palace.

This train had 70+ people strong on the 7th and final run I went on, I just decided to log off and go patch Black Desert Online. (If that says anything about how much I actually enjoy mindless grinding.)

The thing is, that was it. That was the most optimal, efficient way to get my watermark up before they nerf the mediocre 596 GS gear I’d managed to snag off the AH on my dead server before merge.

2.5-3 hours of my life each day for a bump in my average watermark ranging from 3-5 per day. So pending RNG (I ran full luck sets for this), it would take me about 5 weeks running nearly everyday to get my watermark up. No problem, I’ve spent longer in grinds elsewhere.

The problem is, this is boring as shit.

The final boss of this game, is chests. Go loot this, go loot that, follow these people and grab those chests. Pray you get a bump to your watermark. Spend over a month of your life doing this daily, only to have nearly no end game to celebrate your newly found watermark mastery.

There’s a lot to fix in this game. The foundations are amazing. I want this game to succeed, and I wish you developers the best of luck. I’d like to return someday. But it doesn’t seem that will be soon.

PVP flag would have saved the day

I’m not even the max level, only 26 to be exact. But, I guess Im bored since right now NW its not a story driven game, I dont feel the sense of accomplishment with reaching certain lvl, crafting or farming. There has to be rewards from reaching certain milestone or even unlocking new location, or something. I know that this is a typical problem with some MMOs, but this is the first time I ever spend money to play, others were free MMOs. So perhaps I was hoping there would be something more.

I’m always PvP Flagged. Since lvl 1 lol

My guess is you stopped reading or?

What do you mean by, “before they nerf my 596 GS gear I managed to snag from the TP”??

Are you worried about the eventual increase in GS cap above 600?

Amazon explicitly said that they would be “grandfathering in” items obtained before the patch where they start reducing the effectiveness of gear not obtained yourself. So your existing gear won’t be “nerfed.”

But I concur with the boringness of, and pain-in-the-buttness to set up, GS runs. I’ve been doing a few gypsum things per day and OPR mainly, lately, with the occasional GS run to switch things up

Most open world PvPers only want to fight when they have an advantage. Running into a chest train isn’t it. In my experience, they do something cheap like camp the tent respawn area rather than actually trying to challenge the group.

Yep; it’s dumb. I wouldn’t expect to see any kind of open-world progression in future content, at least not without additional limits.

I’m surprised that AGS hasn’t linked elite chests to their guardians the way they do for some in expeditions. Requiring the kill would beat the soloers (instead of the stupid—and ineffective—snipers they blanketed the areas with) and force the loot trains to actually kill the mobs—something the trains on my server seem to hate doing.

Actually the final boss of the game is “inventory management”. Moving stuff from one storage to another, salvaging, putting the right materials in the location where you can craft, dealing with the unique item number maximum’s, and swapping gear based on pvp, pve, crafting, gathering.

Yup… My friend got max in the first few weeks with 180 weapon smithing… Then he ran a zerg and he legit quit on the spot.

He quit months back when many players only ran mines and myrk… He didn’t even make it through mines.

bored-boring

I get upset everytime I get killed by someone on Outpost, only to realize that I would need another month to get a weapon close to theirs

People that get their gear score up doing the same boss, or abusing hatchet to solo content… Now I need to walk around doing boring shit to get gypsum, to in one month get a weapon 590

Nah im shocked that you said you were a fresh 60 but also said grinding gear was what made you leave. You dont know what that grind is like.

He came from Black Desert, probably he knows more about grind than we together

Luckily they added many ways to bump up your gearscore/expertise!

Welcome back!

Unless this is just another d00mp0st and you never had any intention of coming back. :+1::v:

Boss farming did me in. If there was anything else better to do, I would have. It was the most boring and unrewarding experience of any game I’ve ever played. And let me tell you lads, I’ve played a shit ton of games.

Thought they fixed that exploit.

Just saying if you got to 60 in 8 days you missed a lot of the game and its no wonder you quit. You weren’t playing the game
