The Rapier is the one weapon in game that can avoid stun chains. Nobody else can.
In PVP, if both players can be stunned for 2-3 seconds, then immune for 2-3 seconds, both players can play, and have to use their CC more tactically.
If it is 3 vs 1, then the one player, with a well timed skill, can stun all 3 assaulters while he or she is immune for a couple of seconds.
Timing of CC becomes important in PVP then, rather than spam CC.
Just yesterday, in OPR, I used Petrifying Scream on a player, and then saw that followed up by 2 more consecutive Petrifying Screams, and of course he was dead, unable to do anything about it. Even I felt bad for him. That should never happen.
Now, Petrifying Scream, despite all of the complaints about it, is not OP…but when it can be chained it is totally OP. Same as the hammer stun chains, or chained gravity wells.
None of these abilities are OP in and of themselves, it is the spamming that is the problem.
Giving a 2 or 3 second immunity actually increases the players’ control over the outcome of a fight by way of skill.
Imagine nerfing stuns while theyre in the trash spot that theyre in right now (Can be broken by any damage) and we’re still dealing with the broken ass root.
If there’s 3+ people properly chain ccing one dude, then he should die in most situations. I dont see whats so inherently bad about that. Its already way too easy to run away and survive in this game.
I can easily get away with any light build. Can also charge out as a heavy boy and berserk and run laps around a fort. With dodges there’s just so many opportunities to iframe and get out of any bad situation. True tho that rapier makes this an even easier task, but still possible without.
You don’t want to get spam cced and locked down? Get better at predicting vg scream and timing your iframes.
This games combat has many flaws, but roots ain’t it and they’re actually necessary in securing kills most of the time, especially versus the otherwise unkillable lifestaff boys.
There is a cc immunity built in.Getting hit by 3 CCs within a short time frame, you get a free dodge roll, regardless of your armor type.
You are not suppose to survive getting chain cc’d without a healer on you.
If you get caught, don’t use the above mechanic or can’t use the iframes with correct timing thats on you.You deserved that death.
why isn’t that a legit strategy? No different from tanks holding block on doors.
Again You can 100% get out of this using that mechanic i stated above and follow that with an iframe. It sounds like you put yourself in bad situations and expect to sit there and survive tbh.
Games like league and overwatch have no cc diminishing returns and allow players to be chain cced and even be insta killed, and these games don’t even have iframes and rely entirely on your abilities to maneuver out of attacks and properly position your character. New world is one of the most forgiving pvp games in the sense that you can make terrible positioning decisions and still make it out of a bad situation
And before you say these are mobas or shooters, new worlds combat is much closer in resemblance to these games than it is to your traditional tab targeting mmo.
And yes I agree that cc and stagger is very annoying in wars and mass scale pvp, but that still doesn’t excuse having to limit them. There’s already too many situations where wars are at a complete stalemate for minutes with all the AOE heals and mitigation and tanks holding right click.
Well people get in bad situations regardless of what they do when people with higher mobility move in and you cant get away. Its gona happen. But im talking about walking in door and spending 6 seconds unable to move… no change weapons, drink potions… nothing. In fact my PVP OPR experience today has kinda killed it for me. It was more of the same. Ice shower root stun root Me spending 6-8 seconds unable to move then dead. Every pvp interaction is the same.
Maybe we will see hw I feel tomorrow. But I think I have hit enough quitting moments now.
If they add a summoner staff or something then maybe ill give it another go.
I talked about this before. And in Aion there was a skill called remove shock. Where you could break your stun and get a 7 sec stun resistance . 1min 30 sec cool down.
