I really want to know who's idea it was to have no pvp xp rewards for losses

That decision may be the one that ended the game for many.

I know they changed it, but it may have been the straw that broke the camels back. It feels that way to me. Once I realized there were no rewards, I freed myself from the hamster wheel and frankly not too interested in getting back on.

I probably will though. LOL.

In our effort to balance providing strong rewards in the PvP rewards track and preventing Arenas from being lucrative for AFK players and bots we intentionally set the floor of the rewards low and missed the mark. We hear your concerns and will be making adjustments in a future patch, and will continue to monitor feedback. In the future we will be more mindful on creating rewarding experience for all participants of a mode.

I understand this cautious approach for economy and game integrity.

But this seems to be more a lack of faith in the anti-cheat and report feature if botting and afking is such a concern.

The issues with basically no reward for losing should’ve been predicted before hand, it doesn’t take a data analysist or psychologist to predict the outcome.

and while we wait for AGS to “make adjustments”, fort swapping and Great Cleave PvP missions run non stop while there is a wait for arenas to pop.

TBF Cleave was ran non stop before when faction armor was used early on.
Not everyone is interested in 3v3.
People need something to do since OPR just turned to garbage with the cap rates

I agree with this approach.
Until the PvP community shows they can be trusted – which they have never done – don’t trust them.
AGS has extended them far too much trust in the past and they have abused it in every possible way.

I hope Arenas will be the last attempt by AGS to salvage PvP. If PvPers insist on exploiting or cheating this too, then just abandon or delete PvP altogether. It has made New World’s population count that of a niche game at best.

Yeah. How’s shard selling going?

It’s the path of least resistance… The road most traveled is traveled by most. No need to specify PvP player versus PvE.

Most of the exploits have been PvE

I’ve gotten to enjoy watching people in global chat beg for people to queue for OPR. Could be that after the second merge our server is still just dead.

For the record I should have been more specific to the rewards in opr OPR. The 3v3 thing, I’ve only solo queued twice. Realized real quick I would need a pre made and comms. Far as I am concerned you can leave zero rewards for 3v3 losses, they are quick enough.

Indeed opr needs a little more for losses.

I think both teams spend the same time participating in pvp and while i agree with the incentives for winning being more xp, as it forces fort capture as an objective instead of brainless fighting, it feels unrewarding for the time you spend there if lost.

Where GC provides more xp/m mindlessly runing faction quests and not even participating in any pvp sometimes.

Rewards should get buffed where there’s actual player vs player content.

Right now i dont believe the majority with gold+ badges are actually even good at pvp because they could have just pushed e on chests to achieve “killer” status.

Makes sense!

I think no rewards for losses in 3v3 is fine / especially for premade groups. Let the sweats, sweat.

I don’t know about bots, but it must be pretty easy to determine that someone is just AFK during an Arena Bout, no?

Having no reward for Arenas is a huge disadvantage for people who join the Arena Queue Solo and also for those just starting to play and those that are maybe not the best. I’m not a proponent (in real life) of the “Everyone gets a Medal” philosophy we appear to be instilling in children’s sports, but I think in New World if we want to not make that gap between haves and have-nots continue to widen, there should be an incentive to participating. Also, the more people tire from just being Cannon-Fodder, the less there will be actually using the Arena functionality.

Btw, great job on Arenas, I think you guys have done an awesome job. I still have many more losses than wins, but I’m enjoying it so far, though I’m not liking the risk/reward aspect it has become in Life compared to how it was on the PTR.

Cheers!

Yeah it still shows their default mindset is still not there.
