I started a petition to open PvP servers. Please sign it if you want PvP servers too

Do you know why FF has 14 in its name? World of Warcraft, haha. There is a game by the same company called Warcraft. Could it be that those two undisputed legacy behind? And if you think that it is fair comparison, then you can justify absolutely anything with this reasoning.
Yeah… Albion. You get T5 mats tops. If you want T6-T8 prepare to die. A lot. Do you know achievement “This is Albion”? You get that once you get killed for the first time. I think that quite discloses intentions of that game. So there is no chance that ASG would ever trade sedated playerbase for fun gameplay.

I am playing Albion - hardcore PvP(you lose items if you die) with all kind of zergs running around. And I gather alone.
Dismissed.

I also play Albion, but think NW shows way more promise for engaging open world PvP. This, along with the problems and greater division between the PvE and PvP communities that would come from increasing flagging incentives, is a great reason to offer a PvP server.

It gets all of the PvP players from one region in one world together, with a rule set that fits them and allows them to experience the open world with realistic prospects of frequent PvP. It doesn’t introduce rewards to PvE players that are gated behind PvP. Everyone wins, it’s cheap development wise with a huge potential upside.

Yeah exactly! Its such an epic win-win for everyone. And it could really elevate the gaming experience for both type of players by allowing AGS to deliver what both sides desire instead of delivering a compromise between the two which neither side love right now

No, I do not think the game should change the way zones function… I think it needs to ADD things to make them better though. It’s not that this game should be like Albion Online and have high risk PvP, but it could take some tips when it comes to the faction based PvP. There is barely any openworld PvP in New World because there’s no reason to do it outside of simply enjoying it. BUT if the game added more PvP openworld features like Albion Online has… for instance, the fort bosses and the faction system are far superior (and rewarding) in Albion Online… there would be more appeal to flag outside of just being stress for a casual or PvE player.

And I don’t even know what you’re trying to say here haha

Not exactly my cup of tea, but that addition would be S tier in current state of the game. Albeit not small scale, but I get it. Good point.

This approach works in a game where everyone understands the game to be PvP centric. Everyone playing Albion knows it’s a PvP centric MMO. NW is a PvX MMO, with many people believing it to be a PvE MMO.

Offering content with meaningful rewards gated behind PvP will only piss off NW PvE players. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the world we live in.

Offering a separate server for PvP players with forced flagging circumvents this issue, and AGS doesn’t have to worry about alienating PvE players while still offering open world PvP content to PvP players.

There were lots of words - which ones are not as direct as you want them to be?

I should also add that while I would welcome more players being flagged in the open world, I don’t want to fight PvE players who are flagged only for rewards and they don’t want to fight me.

I want to fight PvP players who want to fight back. This is solved by a PvP server. This is not solved by increasing flagging incentives.

Albion is the same PvX. There are people who never leaves blue zones. There are people who gather in black zones and just avoid fights. Remember players have options even in PvP zones - run or fight. So technically a PvX game.

Albion is technically a PvX game in the same way that NW is technically a PvX game.

However, the player bases and public perception are wildly different, as well as how PvP is handled by the game.

You cannot progress to anything resembling competitive content or endgame in Albion without encountering PvP. It’s in the game design, and everyone playing knows it. Every forum post asking for PvP-less endgame rewards is responded to with “This is Albion, PvP is the game”.

In NW, the exact opposite is true. You cannot progress without significant amounts of PvE. All of the endgame rewards are rooted in PvE, and requests for PvP content on this forum are met with hostility.

AGS knows this dynamic, and they have to take it into account when developing content. It’s just reality.

I fully understand why people are defensive - if you cave then there is just no stopping. It is untapped market for that kind of sandbox game. I mean I am playing a game where my character is made out of 10 polygons instead of this AAA beauty. What does that tell you?

That’s the thing though, New World is not designed like Albion Online. Albion Online has ZERO quests haha outside of some early starter zone ones… New World on the other hand, does. New World also has instanced PvE dungeons… Albion Online does not. In Albion Online dungeons function so that anyone can walk into them and fight each other. New World always had PvE and was always apart of the games focus. Pretending that’s not the case just because people would like it to be more PvP focused is just, well, denying the facts.
And this is when AGS would just have to make a hard choice. Do you lose the PvP playerbase to make the PvE group feel good? Or do you tell the PvE players to suck it up and realize that they’re not the only people in the game? Every single MMO, even more PvE oriented ones, have more rewarding PvP than New World. Nobody complains. And if the PvE players want what the PvP players get, they stick it out and do some PvP. If not, they’re not missing out on that much because they have their own rewards they can get from PvE content.
Why would people who don’t really like to PvP ever join a server where they’re forced to flag? They won’t. Even myself, who loves PvP, would not join such a server… so sorry, I just find it hard to see a PvP server would do well… and it could even end up being the reason AGS doesn’t bother to actually improve the PvP and faction system. “What remains of the PvP playerbase are happy in their own little world so let’s just do more PvE updates.”

SIGNED!

We will probably never see a PvP-exclusive server, but surely these discussions will bring this topic more and more to the attention of AGS.
Minorities matter too

I agree! I think that it’s a shame that AGS deviated from their original vision, instead of fixing the problems with it.

I don’t think they’ll go back though, and I think a PvP server would be better and lower cost than getting half-hearted instanced PvP content.

I fully understand that those are different games. But both of them are PvX. Cause option is there. It is just tilted otherway around, where hardcore PvE players got shorter end of the stick

And main difference between the two is that one is the sandbox other one is theme park. And in sandbox you don’t need quests.

I was replying to selfcounciousness there haha but Albion Online has never really pushed PvE as their agenda… but New World has always to some extent been built around a PvE style, that’s just a fact. Just because they pushed and advertised more to a PvP crowd or playstyle does not change that fact either. ESO did the same; it kept advertising as a PvP oriented MMO, but has very PvE based content. And guess what? The PvE players outnumber the PvE ones by far… just like in New World. The difference is that ESO’s take on openworld PvP does thrive way more than New World’s because it has better content for PvP gameplay and rewards. It’s really that simple. That’s all it takes to bring life to PvP in an MMO of any kind.

New pvp servers would be a nice and easy way to provide us with new pvp content without creating new content.

Make it happen @Community-Team
