It’s the only thing that can save the game
Any source about this?
I was really hoping this would make things turn around.
I snorted some cope and kept playing.
I don’t necessarily feel like they’ve dropped the ball, we just all have the same gut feeling.
No confirmation is tantalizing and we are all thinking the same thing. Who knows, maybe we’re all just paranoid and they have big things coming for July PTR.
You can find it in Amazon’s available jobs. I’ve read all of the job descriptions. It’s fact.
First and foremost the core issues of development haven’t been improved at all. The core issue of them introducing and reintroducing major bugs or new exploits literally every single month without exceptions is probably the biggest one.
When it comes to gameplay however there is not much of a difference either. Desync and performance are still huge issues in the game. The expertise system is still one of the most frustrating aspects for a ton of players. The crafting system still hasn‘t gotten updated even though players voiced their frustration for the past 5 or 6 months. The inventory system and gear management are still absolutely abyssmal. Mobile-esque Timegating is still their go-to fix to control player progression. The war and territory control systems are still absolutely garbage. All the RNG involved in acquiring loot makes some mobile games jealous.
I mean fuck man, after 8 months we can still not easily filter the Trading Post for attributes or quickly search for a perk. Like how hard can that be to implement?
I know they have attempted to improve the game slightly in some aspects, but saying the core issues have been adressed is simply not true. And I think for the time the game has been live, the amount of stuff that‘s been done and the lacking quality it was delivered with is straight up embarrassing considering their manpower and the backing of a company like Amazon. Other, way smaller Studios leave AGS in the dust when it comes to their sense of urgency and their priority management.
I think the problem is expectations.
If you think AGS is a legit dev team and that they can put out constant good content then your expectations are way too high.
I mean comeone guys it has been 8 months! We have gotten like 2 months of content. Arenas, Mutations, etc. All the content they gave us so far in 8 months should have taken them 60 days.
This dev team has like 2% throughput. They are killing the game. They all need to be fired and AGS needs to hire actual experienced devs.
Exactly. It just feels like the most basic changes and features take them forever, while other studios with a lot less manpower somehow manage to implement those things in much less time.
The game can improve slightly momentarily every now and then, but the biggest issue with the game will always persist and that‘s the amateur development team. The best and probably only chance that New World has is to hire actually experienced developers that have a clear vision and are passionate about the project.
I feel like we gave them a lot of leeway aswell and were really patient for the past 8 months waiting for gradual improvements, but all they‘ve shown is that they‘re extremely consistent at delivering low quality, bug-riddled patches month after month. At some point you just can‘t wait anymore for something to change.
Scott needs to don the new world outfit, and sit at the table in a fuzzy laptop video like once a week and discuss some non NDA goings on around the studio, like a 15 minute clip, doesn’t need to be this hours long thing involving everybody.
Just, frequent little snippets. I’ll even take the bloopers.
“Hey guys, just filling you in on this chart, we were looking at this weapon this week and we went to the forums, it looks like a lot of you were leaning this way and we were hoping to compromise in the middle so this is where we are on that. We opened a poll in the forums for this and a couple other things. Hey look at this new mob art, chews the fat a little thanks for tuning in guys next week i’ll spill a little of the beans on the greatsword”
Just give us a little window into your world scott, that’s all we want <3
This game need a new graphical engine, more they dev on it, more the increase the sink to the deep.
I want 2 things from them:
-
They must speak in public about the game. The roadmap wasn’t a good thing about the game. We need more details about the plans. Everyday players give them feedback and ideas. They must talk about these.
-
Complete rework the game on a new engine.
When the fear of the game shutting down is greater then the need to play, the game will die. There is so much fear on the forums and reddit i think if they dont address the longevity of the project and that they will continue to support the game no matter what, the game will not survive.
NW systematically wrecked one player category at a time. There is only one way to save it.
- Shut it down
- Go back to the start
- Rework their vision for the game
Everybody knows the state of the game, hence nobody plays anymore. They don’t need to publicly announce anything. AGS simply needs to build a game people enjoy.
Nah, the most fundamental core issue is 2000 player server caps in a modern MMO with no sharding/layering/free movement between them.
With a cap that size, servers will always be in a state of entropy to the point of the player feeling like they are imprisoned on a dying server, further compounding the issue.
MMO playerbases operate in waves. New content drops, players come back and then leave in droves two weeks later. AGS designed a server system that shows a fundamental lack of understanding of player behavior.
In addition, they need to abandon the war system and base territory control/income based solely on fort(s) capture. This would drastically increase the amount of open world PvP and bring a ton of players back.
I’m not willing to spend any money on the game because I think it’s going to get shut down soon-ish (late 2022). I’m sure others feel the same. If they said they were going to keep going until to at least 2024 I’d spend some money.
I have spent over 150€ for skins but I will not do this again…
I lost my hope .
They post stuff every day. Are you blind? hit the dev tracker button. Sometimes even on weekends.
The amount of hand holding some of y’all require is amazing. How do you function at work? “Hey boss I need to be told of every plan”… lol.
Devs do monthly videos, there’s a roadmap, “Wahhhhhh I want more or I’ll QQ”.
Game is fine, quit staring at steam charts, enjoy yourself. Streamers take shots because it gets them views plain and simple. Maybe if people craved good news instead of bad news our actual news would be positive and not the offal show it is today.
You’re in denial. Take a deep breath and look around. This game is sinking and if you want players to invest more time and make the ingame systems work (even if they are broken) someone needs to communicate about the immediate future of this game.
The fuck if I’m gonna spend anymore time in a game that’s gonna go maintenance mode in a few months.
And if you think the whitewashed tepid bullshit that comes from the dev videos is communication then I’d imagine you’re mouthbreather that can’t tell the difference between PR spin and reality.
Funny enough most people these days are too indoctrinated. They behave and think like sheep. That a huge portion of human society don’t even know how to think for themselves. Nor do they understand the concepts of The Scientific Method. They just follow what authoritative figures who wants them to be farm animals tell them. Sheep being slowly led to the slaughter. At this rate humanity as a whole has no future.
So, uh, the new dev video just released…that good enough for you all?
There really wasn’t much there. A couple of good things for sure but not really a life raft the game needs.
Removing keys - cool, love it
Salvage changes - cool, love it
Perk adjustments - cool, love it
This gonna change the player trajectory? I would be shocked. Certainly not enough to convince me to pile more onto my 1500 hours already.
They need to discuss the overall game direction, player retention and stop pissing on the inferno.
I’m glad they’re talking but you can tell they’re avoiding the elephant in the room. I’ll say a move in the right direction.
