I think it’s time to drop the expertise system

Most of the content, because dungeons are expensive and repetitive, is going to be PvP; what they’re saying is that settlement gameplay is really important.

I suppose. I hardly use it and couldn’t even tell you what the average tax rates are anywhere on my server. Hasn’t impeded my progress in the least. I also just pay my housing taxes when convenient and if I could set it to auto-pay I probably would. I barely use them for teleporting anymore with the way azoth costs are and they mostly just function as extra storage space and PvE buffs, and occasionally crafting when I’m in the mood.

I farm my own materials for crafting and only use the TP to sell things I have no interest in keeping.

They could completely remove town ownership from the game and I doubt I’d notice, and my faction is the underdog on my server.

I think they are arguing the opposite… but maybe I misunderstood.

Well, maybe they’re not arguing the point intentionally.

Yeap. But what is the point to gring strong gear then? Like i said, if u want quick games, play dota or cs. There is no need to grind equip. This is mmorpg, and grinding is one of the aspects of this genre.

The point of getting stronger gear is to give you an advantage. That doesn’t change with stat scaling. Having the right perks will remain one of the most important aspect of character power.

It will just be less of a gap between the strongest and the newcomers.

Everyone already did leave, or have you not been watching New World’s progress? They left for games that handle these systems better.

Only bad players are against scaling. Good players have mostly all left for games that reward skill.

That’s not true. It might seem true to you because WoW and FFXIV and BDO. But those casual-oriented games are not reflective of the whole community, and they’re not even known for being great PvP games, so I can’t imagine why you’d think it’s a good idea to copy those models.

But as some successful MMOs have shown, it doesn’t have to be. Games and game generes evolve, they don’t need to stay static. Just because uncle Jim Bob and I spent 3000 hours performing mind numbing grind in the early 90’s, doesn’t mean that we need to be doing the same thing in 2022.

I got burnt out and took a long break after I got mine to 600 in the early days. It’s also why all of my friends stopped playing the game flat out. Barrier to entry isn’t just too long it’s extremely boring and repetitive.

The expertise system from 500-600 could use some speeding up, new ways to advance it, maybe use faction points to get a specific kind of gypsum that speeds up the expertise from 500-600 leveling.

THAT is the problem. There are many ways of tackling the lack of content. But it’s not just a lack of content it’s an overall philosophy that is regressive with punishing mechanics. You combine that with a lack of content and the lack of courage to delay this game and we are here. Crafting sucks and is useless unless you are a whale. Waste more time on that? No thank you, ditto for gathering. Wars? Really? Do you know the % of the player base that ever saw a war? Chest Runs? I won’t even go there. PvP track? That’s just their new version of chest runs.

Okay. Tell me the name of successful mmorpg without grinding please.

I said it so many times. Expertice is one of the problems of the game. They must remove it moths ago. Remove now that game is oficially a fail? Will not change nothing.
Always bad decisions.
Bad decisions with expertice system, with cap PvP outworld with 0 risc , cap dungeons , cap arenas, force PvP rewards perks to be self crafted¿?¿? . Cap outworld with 0 bosses, 0 events. Add so feeeew content after 8 months and game that really lacks on content since start only one new dungeon and 3v3 arenas with no ranking, nothing…

Both GW & GW2 would be considered successful and neither require significant grind to play end game content.

Also, Lotro monster characters don’t require grind when it comes to end game pvp.

ARK is technically an MMO because it’s possible taking your items to another server, amongst that of thousands; it’s a top game on Steam.

Tell me a successful MMO that is known for good PvP.

I think an endgame progression system is fine, but the one we have is bad. With how they tend to go super nerf bat sometimes, the system should not be leveling up specific items. It should allow for a swift transition to another build. I’ve quit twice after nerfs to what I was running just because I didn’t feel like doing a new build.

Meanwhile when Destiny 2 nerfs something it’s typically a matter of about 2 minutes to transition into a completely new build.

I can give you dead MMOs with great PVP marred by generally singular flaws, and I can give you living MMOs with PVP scenes that its stans like.

What I cannot do is the thing you asked. I cannot do that.

Agreed. Expertise is pointless and adds nothing of value to the game. Either scale everything to 590 or reduce everything to 500 and keep the umbral system for 500 to 525gs.

Every update keeps losing players. The core of the game is the issue and needs an overhaul + massive content update. New PvP gamemodes/maps, several new dungeons, raids, territory, etc. Something also must be done about shell companies. The fact 1 company can own an entire server due to a design flaw is terrible.

I gusse u guys forget , u playing mmorpg , not a shooter or moba game , most of system got nerf to catch in end game , even mining , but that is not mean everything should be easy like beginning , my friend didn’t even farm a single dungeon at beginning , he did just buying stuff from op and done , he was complaining how easy to get in end game , dont get me wrong , im agree expertise system should be remove , but befor that there 3 thing should change ,

1" crafter’s , shouldn’t have access to all pieces ( arrmor/weapon/ accessories ) so a new player will not just look on op or asking a crafter to craft x item ,like many mmorpg games. , craftering should be limit.

2" stop boosting/ selling shard , or puting a barrier gs on dungeon , so new player wouldn’t able to enter in +m6 till 10 , so they cant skip all the umbral shard system.

3" ags, should stop putting a full set gear only in 1 dungeon , so even old player will do diffrent dungeon to catch ech part that set , and named/legendry item should not be drop so easy like now.

I agree with the point that the reward differential in the mutated dungeons is a problem. Strong players don’t want to play anything but M10s due to the high umbral rewards. Which means weaker players are unable to join since there’s nobody to help with lower mutations. Putting a bunch of weaker players in mutations meant 1-2 hours of your time wasted without the guarantee of completing the dungeon successfully.
