I keep trying to log in and play but theres just nothing to do really. When I do try to go do anything its just met by something that feels bad.
Wanna farm? Nah bots on that route
Wanna fish? Nah bots there too
Wanna PVP? Hello clunkiness in which all of my attacks just go through most people.
Dungeons? Seriously how many times do you expect us to run gen or laz? We gotta be getting up there to 100s of runs now.
Portals? Fuckin shoot me now.
Chest runs? Also please shoot me.
The issue for me is even if they did care we need actions to back up claims.
For quite some time now the issues haven’t troubled me too much. Games at launch of many kinds can be a hot mess. It takes time to fix things.
Yet they keep trying to release new content, which is just reworked content mostly, without touching simple, basic QoL issues ingame.
In other words, Fix the damn compass. Whenever I run across one of these everyday bugs or glitches that’s the thought that comes to mind. It kinda sums up for me the whole issue.
I can’t really agree with these points. Resources like iron are super cheap and easy to get now. I typically run past iron nodes and see others do the same. Low-tier mats are no longer the limiting factor in crafting, so WW/EF proximity to these things isn’t as critical as it was during launch.
Also, at end-game people are mostly travelling to Ebonscale, Reekwater, and the 3 northern territories that no one can own. You can own houses in Ebonscale, Reewater and Brightwood or Mourningdale and get to these key locations easier and with higher efficiency than from WW/EF.
I think the issue is that people “set up shop” in WW/EF because of its ease of access to new players. They bought houses and established a way of navigating, trading, crafting there and just haven’t wanted to change. It’s not really optimal to do everything in WW/EF at this point in the game’s life, but think people are reluctant to abandon their houses and playstyle and move to other zones.
If you could sell your house and get your money back from the purchase, think WW/EF would see massive loss in income. Other small changes from AGS could also achieve this. But then everyone might start complaining that Ebon and Reek (or whatever the new hot towns are) owners have too much influence, money, power, etc. So ultimately, it’s not he town locations, but many other integrated systems that are the issue.
I highly doubt it, the system perpetuates the problem. I want my house in a place where I can do all of my refining cooldowns at once. The only towns on my server that can afford to keep all the crafting stations at T5 are WW and EF. Why would I move even if I could?
Guess that depends on the server. On mine (Yggdrasil) there are plenty of territories with T5 stations. There are towns outside of WW/EF that are fully T5 upgraded (outside of maybe 1 station).
Outpost rush PVE, sometimes I run it solely focused on upgrading the bases and summoning things. I find it quite enjoyable seeing everyone get flattened by meatballs lol.
This post really hit home for me. It’s exactly how I feel when I login sometimes. This only happened after my server merged. Prior to the merge I was able to get into wars and invasions regularly.
After the server merges when 5 servers merged unto mine, almost the entire map is full of bots 24.7. The other day I was trying to farm some trees around 7AM EST as I was standing there waiting till they respawned I saw 3 Bots go from empty node to node withing the respawn time. they killed easy the level 50 Gators in the area… I logged out and since then only log in to sell my 10 Asmod daily.
Farming any area isn’t worth the time/effort because of the 6 servers full of bots merged into 1. And AGS doing nothing about it. Will not play serious again till they do something about it.
I used to play for at least a few hours per day or however my time was allowing me but now i do not even have any incentive to do the refining cooldowns for asmodeum, phoenixweave and runic leather. Actually, i have considered that it is probably better to not do them at all so that i will not get back to the game and get my daily dose of disappointment.
By the way, they could make it so that the refining cooldowns would reset every day at 6AM in the morning like many other games instead of having a fixed 24hours cooldown.
The bots also massively ruin this game but it seems to not be a problem.
Unfortunately that wouldn’t work. As a crafter you need to have a house in WW/EF because they are the only ones with buffs active because they have income. You need those buffs or you significantly reduce your chances of creating anything good. On top of that at this point people have significantly higher territory standing in those zones. E.g. I get 35% reduced taxes on trading post etc and grinding that up again seems terrible. And the biggest thing is even if a large portion of the player base migrated, windsward, everfall etc would still make a ton of money because all the bots list their sales from those locations. There are too many compounding factors that without a complete wipe make those locations better.
brightwood has a lot of iron around it, and we is not that central.
its more just, ww and EV have high early adoption, for some of the reasons you mention, and its generally not worth it to change your home area. Players invested a lot in town buffs, and 5-20k for a house that you can’t get back.
also, this game makes success feed itself.
they got the most money, the best crafting tables, generally owned by dominant factions(which means better teleports)
I’m gonna try farming the armorers hat for another 20 hours. 2 people I was with got it yesterday. Perhaps after 40 hours of killing the same boss over and over I might get it.
