It sounds stupid but it is not, I agree with you. NW have 3-5 kinds of mobs/animals only 1 human body shape and off course, this and that turns the game very very boring! They should stop taking the shortcut (ex. GS system) and create new content.
Passive and Agressive mobs, terrain, acqua and air creatures; solo and group, few and many, herds… right now, everything looks the same, with the same mechanism, only in different colors.
Would love to play a game at some point with herds and seasons along with weather changes that affect the animals. It would be great if the animals interacted with the world at large.
Pretty sure giraffes would be just like deer / stags in this game.
Lynxes are like wolves.
Every bird is a turkey.
Pretty sure Amazon isn’t capable of having more than 5 types of animals because that would require creativity (oh it would not as there are thousands of mammals out there they could simply bring into this game).
I remind you that the date of the game is 1700 everything on the island is from that time or before, where the ships are not very big, also everything on the island (except the old ones) are remains of pirates and searchers of treasure that as a result of their greed, they arrived at that cursed place. Why are they going to wear giraffes or hippos that are African animals at a time when Europeans dominated? I understand that we cannot be historically strict because if we stick to the history of pirates and corsairs, there should hardly be women in NW since pirate ships and treasure hunts, from 1500-1700 women were not allowed, but about the animals, they will have to find some kind of justification in the lore if they want to put it
It’s called suspension of disbelief. You know, that same thing that lets some people believe a mating pair of every animal, bird, or reptile on the planet - plus feed for all of them - fit on a 510ft long boat.
Further, the Island is not said anywhere to have been - throughout its thousands of years of existence - strictly populated by European stock.
Cause giraffes are SASSY.
And big game hunters lived since ancient times. i can completely vouch for the lore changing it up because foreign animals were often dropped on vacant islands presumed to be only used for harvesting of raw minerals.
also incase the dev team needs a wiki link.
"believed that the Clovis and Folsom cultures, ending around 8,000 BCE, were primarily big-game hunters, ending coincident with the extinction of Pleistocene megafauna.[8] "- wiki big game hunting
Big game isnt just elephants and african specific animals but thats what most people popularized.
Dont forget we are the reason buffalos and the african elephant almost went extinct. But i digress it’s more culturally sound if they used the fact poachers were catching these animals en masse like Hiply said but something happened to make them all snap and hunt the player base.
Did you read the note about the pigs over running the farm and murdering everyone that kept killing them and their offspring?
like savagely i mean, they killed the dude on his camp fire/ tent and KEPT killing him over and over while he respawked the next day to the same fate of horror.
it’s completely possible to say maybe a cargo ship of exotic animals with pure hatred for being used as livestock are now sreking revenge for their capture.
or maybe lets have more diversity as far as what we can hunt if there is a seperate part of tge island where different animals roam together. Kinda like those european reserves that sell a pass to kill deer, black bear, and red partridge. Id be down to pay 500 gold to hunt actual game in bulk.
Why is everything so thinly spreadcout? they can make a place called bunny island but we cant have a giraffe sanctuarary that interconnects to the plot due to pillaging different nations???
why not??
look how cuteeeeee thooo omgggg
id do literally anything for this to be an emingame emote lmdao.
just imagine killing someone under a giraffe and it triggers their side eye emote LOL. " buddy. this might not be your game if you losing like that…"
The screen shot would be the icing on the cake lmdao
you know what would make it fair tho??
if se had these different sections of island with bigger beasts but its only accessible to flagged players.
In the wilds you gotta ve wild, you know?
Want that cute exclusively rare red panda meat?? you gonna have to do some killin. lmdao and they should increase the AI range of vision at night.
on a side note. speaking of vision.
why cant we have turtles or whales since its 1700s??? they were PLENTIFUL back before whale hunting fucked the economy
omg.
yes.
or like i wish the wolves had a natural predator in some biomes besides the player base.
like i wish the animals interacted with eachother.
maybe the wolves bite or nudge eachother and it hurts their hp. And they eat a rabbit to gain hp back??
maybe have packs walk around purely with an alpha infront while 6 minor wolves walk behind him ??? like before they made the alpha stop spawning wolves in opr, i thought it was an awesome mechanic
You know?
. hmm. why did they lower the difficulty of these fights and interactions? i really don’t understand why they downgraded the alpha to just a single wolf but i wish they add more content instead of removing.
I would ve happy with a porcupine and big ass quils that randomly root players if they get close to them. Cause they’ll enlarge and stab you basically trapping you. So you gotta hit it from a distance or flip it like a pancake using your hammer smash. lol.
Also… Auto-pathing! (Or at least more organised, you notice that mobs already obey certain pathing rules and are leashed to a location.) The AI in game is already quite capable at traversing passable terrain, chasing you no matter which rock you hide on so using mechanics already in game:
Herds of animals that roam from the plains to a water source to berry bushes and nuts
Bison (or just a tamed palate swapped variant with an aggro range of 0.1m) that pulls carts along roads. They already have various caravan assets in towns and abandoned by roadsides
Potential payload escort / hijack PvP missions where we fight the town owners for resources. Ohhhh! With those reekwater crocodile cages! Wait, no… Tigers! Or both! That get’s released when you attack the caravan to half health. Like how Isabella releases the two tigers in Dynasty Shipyard!
Caravans have scheduled payloads of different trade skills. Cooking supplies, Fibers, Stone, Metal, etc and the town’s taxes! EF and WW owners only keep the gold if the caravan reaches safely
Would make the open world more lively instead of randomly scattered anger-management-issue-rainbow boars that attack you if you looked at them funny
Goats that travel with a black “alpha” variant that will chain cc knockdown the player when the whole herd aggros (because goats are d-bags of course)
Flock of turkeys, ducks, peacocks that lay eggs every now and then (similar to the Dryad Stags pooping quintessence). Gotta keep the egg inflation prices in check, ya know.
