Add me into the group wanting the game to add a means to change your character’s name. There was so much chaos at launch that some people probably threw together characters in a rush just to not be caught up in a long queue. I did on one character I kinda want to play now so I would definitely pay for a token that allowed for a name change on that character. They can even limit how many times or how often you can do this on one character but I think putting something like a name change token in the store would be a plus.

I would also like to change my name after ive been a douche and ruined my reputation on a server please. Also if I wanted to scam some ppl a namechange after would be nice.
Too easy to abuse, but I am sure they will add it in the shop later on because it makes alot of money 
MMOs can assign permanent IDs to player accounts. The IDs can show in chat next to your name. The name may change but the ID always stays the same. Also, permanent IDs mean name changes won’t remove a player from a friends list or block list or let that player evade accountability. If I’m not mistaken, ESO has something like this. Since NW isn’t so keen on alts this wouldn’t be such a hassle.
You just have to think outside the box. It’s doable and not so easy to abuse.

I would pay $25 or more for a name change right now. Do you guys think this will be coming soon or should I just reroll a new character?
I made a temporary character on east coast server to play with friends, and I named it something dumb, leveled kinda far, only to find out that my friends cant transfer from east coast server to west coast server…

not sure I like this… if you have a bad reputation or you chose a stupid name… ya gotta live with it!
I got name change for free, just set enough homophobic nick and they will give you free rename (forced).
Yup name change definitely needs to be implemented.
Like someone said in this thread and others. Just assign an account ID next to the name or hover over and it shows. That never changes. But your name can. And that solves the reputation thing.

I have no idea how this particular gaem does it but support should have ability to force name change on a character with “inappropriate” name. Try asking support politely if they can and are willing to do that for you.
(In ESO that kicks you to character selection and makes you rename character before one can log back with it. I know because I tried to play on US server with Argonian maid named Sweaty-From-Arousal which name I had used with no prob on EU. Murricans…)
my character is Viviamara of Frislandia and trust me im willing to pay to change both my charater name and appearance id hate to delete it and start over again after putting so many days and hours into it i truly hope they do put this in as an option. it would be a smart move on their part plus the first time should be free after that do idk perhaps $4.99 for name and $9.99 for appearance and do bundle deals for idk $14.99 for both. its an idea but who knows 
Richardinmaaz on my server has been requesting this…I think they bit off more than they can chew. Chat has been vicious from the beginning. Pick a troll name…stuck with a troll name.
No way! People will use this to scam people or just act like jerks and when people finally get tired of them…poof…new name. No way! I want to know who I’m dealing with. Make a bad name for yourself…in both senses…live with it.
Right. People just want to use the troll name of the month…because we all know that stuff gets dated/played-out quick.
I wouldn’t mind name changes eventually being implemented. As others have stated in previous replies, there a some things to take into consideration.

Cooldowns - There would have to be a significant cooldoown to how often you could change your name. 6 months to 12 months would be reasonable in my opinion.

Identification - Someone previously mentioned an ID system where the ID is permanent but the name can change. This would help people recognize their friends who changed their in-game name. It would also prevent scammers from just switching names on CD. What could also work is their former name being in parenthesis next to their current changed name. If a player changes name on CD, potentially add a record of all past names a player has used, maybe in their bio section which could be available for all to see.

Token or monetization - I think 1 free token and the rest costing money would be reasonable. This would mean scammers would have to constantly pay money if they decide to change names on CD. Monetization would give the devs some incentive to develop code that allows name changes.
On a random unrelated note, there is a clear warning stating names can’t be changed when creating a character. Give then, I chose my username to mess with a friend. I decided to keep the character instead of making a new one. So now some people think I’m a female… All I have to say is that it’s interesting how some people will talk to you differently. Most people interact normally but being called “cute,” “adorable,” or “baby” is definitely… interesting haha.
