They merged some servers and those servers are dying again because people are still leaving.
this is true, our server (Apsu) was merged after reaching ± 400 players. It was merged with a server with about 100 players.
After all this time, we peak 450 now. So the player exodus is much bigger then newcomers. Which is sad. NW has potential… but i feel that updates aren’t consistent with quality and direction.
I feel for the OP. I left my last guild because it was nothing but cliques that refused to help anyone that wasnt in them. My new guild is not much better. Thankfully I am 600 expertise and 600 GS so I can start doing mutations and I have, and can afford to buy, Mutation orbs. If I cant find groups so be it. Unfortunately the game design encourages this type of behaviour of cliques and unfortunately, even the a22hats that refuse to help company mates will eventually be SOL when more people leave. Horrible game design.
And when one suggests implementing a LFG tool or cross server functionality, the hardcore no lifers complain saying that will ruin the game. You cannot win in New World.
My friend is in this boat. His heights WM is 540. So he is weeeeks behind me and can’t even do m2.
Problem with LFG tool is that it requires a radical redesign of expeditions. You have to consider who uses the orb, what happens if the group fails, who can kick AFKs/trolls, how do you guarantee your tank and healer are actual tanks and healers.
It gets even worse for mutations!
We would have to see tuning orbs scrapped entirely and minimum weapon/carnelian checks for role queue in LFG to work.
I am for it, if done correctly. I just do not believe it would work in the game.
Yea I don’t think a dungeon finder would work. I mean look how bad OPR balancing is. Imagine that with dungeons. You get a pt with 5 tanks or another pt with 5 bows. Good lord.
Now a party finder could work where there is a UI like in FFXIV and the UI shows how many roles are available and what they are looking for and what they will be doing.

Actually in every MMO with Dungeon finders, thats how it works. The finder automatically has roles set for the Trinity (Tank/Heals/Dps) and players fitting the roles are summoned. If someone plays dumb and goes in as a tank when they are really DPS it would not take long for that person to be found out (It occasionally would happen in WOW) and that person can be voted out. The UI in FFXIV and WOW clearly delineate the roles. As this is a skillbased game, it would be more an act of trust or perhaps the LFG tool can review the weapons being held to determine class.
But this is all semantics. The No lifers dont want LFG tools, even as the game sinks and people cant get groups.
No it’s not semantics. Dungeon finder and party finder are two separate things. Even in XIV.
But you did highlight why it’s a problem for new world. There are no clear roles in new world. There are some weapons that are better at some roles than others.
I’d rather new world not dumb it down to the trinity. I like the openness of new world and how it allows me to interpret my own play style. That is largely lost with dungeon queue systems because as you pointed out, there has to be clear roles or it just doesn’t work.
FFXIVs party finder is a list of people searching for parties with a list of objectives. It’s essentially a QoL version of the “LFM Lazarus Need a healer and 3 dps”. System that we already have now. It just so happens in new world there really is only one healer weapon and one tank weapon.
Again it’s not really semantics they are two systems for two different approaches to mmo design. One being more open ended and one being more cookie cutter “play how we tell you to play”. In xiv a ninja can’t tank and a dark knight doesn’t dps. But in new world a wh or rapier or spear could tank and a SnS could dps. Wether that’s effective or optimal or not idk.
I’d like new world to allow for even more open game play. I’d like more weapons to tank, more weapons to heal and every weapon have a dps build.
No they want people that play expeditions at least 4 hours a day.
I play more than that but I do not play expeditions. And they certainly do not want me either any more.
I’m not quibbling over HOW or WHAT the LFG/Dungeon finder should be. I was stating that regardless of what type of finder the game implements, it’s going to be met with resistance by the hardcore crowd that don’t want QOLs like finders, mounts, mail systems etc. I am well aware of what these tools do having played every Triple-A MMO and several indies. And if you truly want “open-ended” gameplay in dungeons, there is already a game ready-made for you: Guild Wars. That game has no trinity and encourages open-ended approach to dungeons. MOST MMOs have a trinity and party and raid encounters are built around these roles.
Have fun in Guild Wars. It has excellent PVP as well, possibly the best in an MMO I have experienced.

I hear you overall as this game is definitely NOT casual friendly, however I am confused with this comment I am quoting. How will you be able to keep up with your guild if you stop playing? Wouldn’t that put you further behind?
for the love of god do not put in an automated LFG system.
go play WoW or FF14 if you want to stand in town and click a button that puts you in a group.
one of the great things about this game is some of the good community. Our company works to get people caught up. we also work across factions with different company to get groups going.
the last thing we need in the game is a button that removes the community and just auto fills you in a slot.
Really what’s the issue of having both, LFG System and also going straight in with a group. You cant just think of your own situation.

tbh, I dont think AGS are capable of a tool as such, a temporary fix could be to just remove the need for orbs.
Haha, an automated group finder would probably bug out and prevent you from joining any other group thereafter and you’d have to wait for a monthly patch to fix it.

What I mean by that, is that i’ll come back when I have another way to get umbral shards by myself. Or if I can make more keys so I can try with randoms.
It is only an increase to 625 I’m sure they will run your orbs with you and the other person. You can also get umbral shards from gypsum chests once that item experience is 600.
