I wish every weapon had an option using both hands. Leaving one unused really annoys me. [4 ways to do it]. Also, certain weapon options seem so inherently "should be included" that I can only imagine they're already intended as future content

I kind of hate it when a game makes me feel like I lost an arm just because of the weapon I chose to equip. Even when replicating a real world fighting style that only utilizing the one hand, it still bothers me (though tbh the only real world thing I can think of atm that does that is fencing).
Any one handed weapon, regardless of why it was made that, leaves part of my brain constantly asking “why am I only using one hand???”

Don’t worry, I’m not about to say all the one handed weapons should just get to use shields.
That is an option, if they alter sword+board stat allocation, but this is not simply a “let me use my shields” thread.
I’m also not insisting that people who do want to have the empty hand shouldn’t be able to.
It would be easy enough to provide both options. Either: with a given weapon’s two trees, only one might actually utilize the off hand component, so anyone specced into the other one wouldn’t need to equip the offhand component; or even simpler “X alone” and “X with Y offhand” could actually be separate weapon classes, in which case I just wouldn’t equip the “X alone” option. You might think that just sounds like what we already have. Well it is similar, the distinction of have the two forms of using X with Z being another weapon instead of just having X and Z is major. [That is, having sword+shield and one handed rapier leaves me annoyed when playing rapier, but having sword+shield, rapier, and rapier+whatever would allow rapier to not feel annoying. Even if mechanically it’s just 3 different weapon classes it still feels like 2 where I can choose to use one or both hands]

The 4 options for offhand, at the most generalized, would be:

  1. Pairing with shield.
  2. Dual wielding.
  3. Two handed weapons.
  4. Pairing with some form of one handed magic.

3 is of course covered already, by hammer and greataxe, I’m just acknowledging it.
2 is likewise covered by sword. I’ve already seen in these forums that some people want shield to spread to hatchet and rapier, I just acknowledge it as an option. I also saw another thread where someone wanted the shield skill tree to be detached from sword, giving sword a full tree of things that don’t rely on shield and letting anything one handed work with the shield tree. Not my idea, just including it due to relevance.

For Ice Gauntlet, the solution is obvious. Make it Ice GauntletS. Just put one on both hands, update animations to use both hands, and don’t actually change anything about the weapon’s mechanics. Why would I wear only one glove? I’m not Thanos.

Dual wielding melee, presumably daggers, and dual wielding pistols (flintlocks) are what I was referring to in the title when I mentioned weapons I can only feel like are already intended to be added later. Especially the daggers. It just seems, well, ridiculous, not to include those. Should have been part of the game at launch, frankly. But either way I don’t want to just assume they’re coming, so here I am ensuring the desire for them exists in feedback.
Not to mention the enemies we see using such loadouts in the game already.

Dual wielding in the form of melee + gun seems obvious as well, but less “inherently to be included”. Still want it though. Mixing some kind of sword with a flintlock. I believe sabers would be the usual culprit, iirc.

Also, just to make sure nobody misunderstands, with 4 I’m not suggesting “let me use rapier and ice gauntlet at the same time!”. My intention was a new weapon class which would have different spells, not just use the existing magic weapons spells while getting a sword.
I’m also not actually directly requesting it, as much as I’d like to see it. Just including it since it is one of the options. I’d like it, but for me it would be a lower priority than the other three options.

“Any and all of this would take a lot of time, Soul”
I know, I know. I don’t like it, because life is so short, but I know. I don’t expect any miracles of suddenness.

Tldr: I don’t like having the empty/unused hand and would like both my hands able to be utilized with every weapon.

This is wholly unrelated but I didn’t want to make a whole new thread for two sentences:
I’d really like if at the end of expeditions I could see a personal stat screen, so I could see how much damage I actually did via the burn status. There’s certainly other reasons why other people would like a stat screen but I just want the visual of how much I’m doing with burn.

This is the best worded post on the subject i have seen and i 90% agree with all of it but 100% belive that there is NEED for improvement in the weapon system
