I would love to see dynamic open world event based quests in PvE

Haven’t seen results for “live events” search, so I’m creating a new thread here, but what I feel is missing to make the PvE world feel alive is live events.

Guild Wars 2 and Fallout 76 are multi players games that I’ve experienced and included so many amazing dynamic time based events, and those are always so much fun.

Currently, corrupted portals are so boring. They’re just static, and you can run them at schedule time and yeah. Why not have just a few portal open and actually have those evils corrupted wave kill players moving into bigger area?
Then you’d see all those PvE players teleport to the area and start fighting them.

The possibilities here are endless. Fallout 76 now have the cliche aliens invade the map every hour. It’s so insane. Total chaos and mayhem ensue. It’s just so much fun even thought the events is really easy.

Guild Wars 2 though, does live events right. Wold Bosses, scaling events in every areas. It’s never boring when you’re PvEing in the open world. There’s always something coming up.

To explain better, those are “timed based quests”. They only exists while happening and progress based on the player interactions. As opposed to, a quest that is always possible to resolve.

theres been events for every holiday and we have invasion that happen which are pvp events

That’s not it. In game events, that triggers everywhere, at different semi-random times. Like, you’re walking around and there’s something happening that need to be resolved.
Not like a Christmas event where you search around for gifts.

u mean like portals? that appear and we have to resolve them there suppose to stop invasions but the coding wasnt done right

Specifically the example I used in the original post.
Guild Wars 2 probably has 100+ different events like that: theives attacking some place, monsters doing XYZ thing, boss spawning in a place.
Fallout 76 has a pretty impressive list of different type of events. Escorts, zone protection, killing mobs, invasions, patrols, and so many other fun comedic ones.

not sure that would work so well unless it only would trigger while in pve other wise setting your self up to be jumped from behind while fighting a new random encounter while going to next town plus things dont just appear here they would have to have pre set little camps that appear so we knew what we were walking into other wise might make regular game play and crafting a pain and might even make it harder on our newer players but if was set to trigger in pve only i could see alot of the pvers having a ball with that even if i do love to be in pvp mode all the time

It would work very well if implement correctly whatever type of player your are doesn’t matter. Just read my first example and it’ll be clear.

they have one thing at the moment like that raffle bones from whats been data mined more iis commin so dont wry

@gnufred Thank you for sharing desire for more open world dynamic events. You have done an excellent job describing what makes such systems so engaging. I will share your feedback with the Dev Team.

This is how I envisioned portals working kinda. I figured they would be similar to Rift. They honestly should have just copied that model and added some twists to it.

Basically in Rift they had what NW calls portals. They would spawn in areas and people could close them similar to how NW has it, but if not enough were closed in time an open world invasion would happen with waves of mobs and eventually a boss mob. Also the rifts could drop unique things like unique mounts and stuff. It was really cool. I loved that game until it went into the gutter. You were also able to craft stuff that you were able to open raid rifts that were more difficult and required a full raid and gave good loot.

I thought portals in NW would be similar to that.
