Ice gauntlet broken and being exploited

probably even forgot the Malachit extra dmg, legit everybody uses

so its not a bug or exploit. ice storm if you are hit with heavy attack they deal increased damage and can stun you. ice shower roots you. simple answer dont be a idiot who doesnt push his shift key. (DODGE) i run GA Hammer and its super easy to beat a mage just dont brain dead run at people.

Ice Gauntlet has been broken since the release, been running Shower + Spikes since release and who knows, maybe now people realized its the best way to burn down stationary plank healers. But, to the issues…

  1. Ice Storm does not hit as much as it should, and it hits inconsistently - which accounts for a lot of DPS loss, sometimes overrides (of other players) also cause your area to stop working, ie. no overlapping;
  2. Ice Storm projectile is rather “small” in size compared to all other ranged weapons, apart from Musket - which makes all other weapons Light / Heavy attacks easier to land;
  3. Unending Thaw perk does not work, since release, and it bugs out Ice Storm completely;
  4. Ice Storm final talent causes a lot of issues with Ice Gauntlet, either does not make it trigger or when it does, as soon you switch weapons the damage is lost;
  5. Ice Shower does not constantly hit as it should, and people are still utilizing DODGE/BLOCK when it lands; Seems to be related to 10% penetration last perk; When you pass thru Ice Shower, even with GA Charge, you have to stop and be unable to block or roll dodge for at least 3 second; (you have zero avoidance)
  6. Deadly Frost talent does absolutely nothing, no idea what’s supposed to do… I think it was never implemented;
  7. Iced Refresh works very inconsistently, and it seems to me the Spike itself is not the first damage being applied, which makes the refresh also not trigger in many cases;
  8. Ice Storm “cast” is a two step process, you need to load it and in around 200ms the skill is then casted (you press the hotkey twice) - that animation cannot be canceled like Sacred Ground or Pillar of Fire, and when hit in this 200ms window your skill goes into cooldown but it’s never fired;
  9. Ice Storm and Ice Damage is so down in end-game content that is virtually impossible to be competitive in a boss fight using that weapon;

when I was still playing, I had around 510 GS with some decent perks on my Ice Gauntlet (which was 537, Ever Giving) and I was able to down anyone in the server with one well placed combo, even the ones who exploited Orichalcum reset 24/7 for weeks, with 5 Pieces Void just like you - and this was when Resilient was reducing overall damage, not only Crits - thou at this moment, Crits are bad to have, since they hit people for less than a normal hit.

also, what you should understand is, in order to maximize damage, an Ice Gauntlet player needs a) have you into Ice Storm, b) blow their dodge and expose themselves using the weakest armor in Game to land one of the smallest area skills literally at your feet and pray you do not dodge at that time, and c) roll back and explode Ice Spikes, which is the only skill shot in the whole game - perfectly, right underneath you, and have them Crit all at once with two autos in the middle of all of this. And I’m not even too sure if people can down you one shot anymore since Resilient now nullifies Crit to a point they hit less than normal damage.

wanna stay alive from a well place Ice Spikes, you have one choice - you will need to respec full into Fortify and put everything into Ice Resistance, you will not heal as much, you will lose your survival to all other factors (like Melee) in around 50-60% but you will hold a Ice Spike burst and not die instantly… or you can make sure when you see someone with Ice Gauntlet you get scared as and make sure to dodge at the right time.

apart from everything that doesn’t work with Ice Gauntlet, it does not have hidden and broken “buff talents” like Hatchet had, or War Hammer, thou it seems that overall damage is increased when you have more people in your Ice Storm (well, when it actually decides to count damage…) - but the tooltip states just that.

Based on what is described, its Heavy Freeze working as intended, which makes a change for Ice perks since many of them are bugged and don’t work properly since closed beta. It would be good to get some of those fixed though.

The counter to Heavy Freeze by the way is to avoid the chill zones obviously, or get quick with your dodge. The freeze only lasts a fraction more than one second when you stack perks and heavy armor, and heavy attack speed is a little higher than this so you can always time a dodge on the next incoming heavy attack. The Invulnerability frame from the dodge prevents the hit from landing and you have till the next attack to get out of the AOE if you have not already. Essentially L2P.

the problem is the last patch has introduced shitty lag so between weapon swap and damage/ability delay IG is hitting people much longer than they should be hit.

100 percent agree that it’s bugged after last patch as I have never had an issue playing around it before. However, after being instantly frozen in place with no way to move at all as soon as it’s cast after the last patch, it is definitely not the same as it was before. There is now a drastic difference then how the ice gauntlet effects me in pvp scenarios, and I haven’t been the only one to notice this in my company.

Say whatever you want, even if it wasn’t a bug, then it would need a huge nerf on the simple fact that there are game objectives centered around taking control points that simply makes it instant death for anybody on the control point.

You get this lag too? In Outpost Rush. I constantly teleport. When using great axe dash, it pulls me back. Reap never hits and when it does it does no damage.

Its so weird, ive got 750down / up internet with a really good pc. It must be the patch that messed up the lag

This is a thread for ice gauntlet issues if you haven’t noticed. Please create your own thread for other issues.

Just added context to your “issue”

This is not a bug. And one of the biggest problems of the ice gauntlet. When you switch weapons you SHOULD lose all damage, couse thats the way all weapons work! and thats why this is so broken. If i have any weapon and switch to other the buffs are lost period. Why do gauntlets should be allowed to keep it?

  1. when you Fire Staff and apply burn on targets, it stays after switch;
  2. when you Sacred Ground and switch weapons, it stays;
  3. when you Orb of Protection and switch weapons, it stays;
  4. when you Beacon and switch weapons, it stays;
  5. when you Shockwave and switch weapons, ability effect stays;
  6. when you Wreck Ball and switch weapons, ability effect stays;
  7. when you Gravity and switch weapons, ability effect stays;
  8. when you Shield Bash and switch weapons, ability effect stays;

and so on…

I could likely give you 50 reasons easily why it should stay so it’s inline with other weapons, and at the moment it stays as long you do not go into last talent - which increases your damage in 10% per enemy inside Ice Storm. However, this is how we kill the noobs that stack in a single location (usually under Sacred Ground) - and we are suppose to wreck noobs, and only noobs cry when they die to Ice Gauntlet.

so you know, it has always been like this, during Open & Closed Beta and also after release… Ice Shower has not been modified, what you don’t understand is that, a lot of noobs would look into youtube or twitch idiots to align their builds on how those idiots play - and most of them, if not all of them, would go into Entomb instead of Ice Shower for defensive.

Outpost Rush finally made people test other ways and now people are finally running Ice Shower + Ice Spikes and you are crying because all you could actually do was to stack in a point using Heavy Armor and maybe because you nerded out the most and have better gear and your healers also nerded out as much as you and also have more healing power, “you win” by spamming abilities at random.

Also please note, what ALWAYS kept you alive was the buggy Resilient perk, and now it’s not bugged… and the main difference is, MOST people running Ice Gauntlet are Light Armor so they avoid hits (they were not affected by Resilient fix), they have what we call “skill” to understand when to go in, when to dodge, and how to survive (which you don’t have) and that’s what bothers you… you can no longer maintain yourself alive due to skill gap and the Resilient being fixed, so it seems that they have “magically” modified a certain skill - and they have not… you can ask ANYONE that had run Ice Gauntlet since release (in your own Guild).

  1. Thank you for enumerate the weapons bugs for the devs to work on them
  1. Wrong, this is how you abuse and exploit a bugged weapon.

those are just a few examples, most weapons and nearly all skills maintain their effects after you switch - rare are the cases when you cannot carry over a certain effect, like Defiant Stance, and even on these cases when you switch over they “end” the skill, you do not lose it (in that scenario you still receive its final effect)…

Ice Storm has a talent that INCREASE THE DAMAGE the more people it hits. We are supposed to use it when people stack, not to hit one person… LOL… common dude, read the skills, play with the weapon, then you come here to talk… there is no exploit, it’s just you are bad, and very likely (I bet) you run Heavy Armor, and 99% of the cases this makes you a noob.

I love how you assume someone’s skill level, be toxic, then expect a constructive argument. Calling someone bad just makes you look like a douche, especially when this is a thread for bugged ice gauntlet, literally not anything else.

it’s a fact, Ice Shower is the smallest AoE and the Ice Gauntlet needs to be on your feet and you can always dodge out as soon they get to you… let’s face it, the cry here is about you not being able to be braindead and stay stationary on top of your Sacred Ground, and now “suddenly” when you do that, someone dodges towards you, put you on Ice Shower and then you are dead… so yeah, you see… you are just a bad player, and that is the main issue here.

also, your report is so bad, but so bad you have no clue what happened… Ice Gauntlet WILL kill anyone one shot, it has ALWAYS killed people one shot… there has been no changes to Ice Gauntlet… what changed was Resilient perk, so get your shit together.

Ice Spikes kills people, not “Heavy Attacks” - you get CC’ed because you are not moving out of the Ice Shower, you need to move, means you cannot cast… you cannot dodge, you cannot block… in fact, you cannot be hit by Ice Shower, you have to avoid it… it’s the hardest CC of the whole Game - so I suggest you to switch to Light Armor and tell me how many times someone can hit you with it, Ice Shower is no different from myself with Ice Gauntlet being hit by some Gravity - I’m also dead, and that’s it.

ah, and yeah… as soon you go Light Armor now everything else will kill you, not only Ice Shower… welcome to Ice Gauntlet, we run no armor and we have skillz, please stop crying.

You do stop with GA charge and if you try to charge out of it or with any mobility skill. (everyone can use mobility skills to jump out of gravity wells btw) the Ice shower instead makes you teleport back to the initial place and root you for the same amount of time it did on the initial hit. I stopped playing today, I cannot be arsed to keep swapping weapons to whatever is exploited after each patch. I stood still for about 10 seconds after trying to charge out of the initial hit of ice shower. Wouldn’t be surprised if the next patch makes you throw greataxes by pressing rmb. They are very creative with their bugs in this game.

Edit: I know why you lot are trying to defend your weapon, I even saw people try to defend the hatchet exploit. It doesn’t surprise me how desperate people are to get an advantage.

there is no advantage, it’s been like this since release… also, I run Life Staff now, and I have zero issues with Ice Shower… literally, zero issues… maybe because I always played Ice Gauntlet, so I know everything about it, I know how people will move, what they will do, what are the cooldowns and so on.

and all you do is press “forward” or back, you will be with an around 2 second window where you are totally vulnerable… it’s 2 seconds, not 10, I suggest you walk and use a pot.

I have to record it and send it here so you can look at the video timestamp to see how many seconds it is right? Did you even read what I wrote up there or did you only read the last sentence with the word ‘advantage’ in it and got triggered? I get we live in democracy and everyone has a right for an opinion but I suggest you test stuff first before you just start throwing your very important opinion here.
The skill reads 1 second but it ticks the same cc for the duration of it. It means if you get caught you are standing still for about 8-10 seconds without being able to block, use any mobility skill (previous patch, I was always getting out of it with charge. Just like how everyone steps out of a gravity well) nor being able to move when the animation of the skill is over. You try to force moving with a mobility skill like charge afterwards, you teleport back to the initial location and can’t move for another few seconds. Do not give me bullshit like; ‘just don’t walk into it’. A good player will always hit that skill on top of your head, maybe try dueling better players for once instead of using ‘git gud’ comments.

I swapped to ice gauntlet for this patch, I will apparently use a different weapon for each patch that is being applied. Whatever is bugged and exploitable next. Welcome to exploit world.

Ps: lifestaff is a different topic, you are allowed to stand still during an entire duel and just overheal everything in heavy armour.
