No, that is wrong, and I am sure even you know that. So why are you lying? Everyone that is not a mage is complaining, and rightfully so. I am not a Great Axe user obviously. Most players complain about both Gravity Well and Ice Shower. Even many mages admits it is an ability that should not exist in the game.

Are you joking? as a mage with Ice Gauntlet you are wielding the ONLY weapon that has some kind of counter with Entombed :rofl:. Are you even considering your arguments?

There is no point discussing this with you as you are so incredibly biased and you refuse to even admit that it is a bad design. I will say it one last time… Ice Shower should be reworked into something more interesting, fun and still useful.

I would suggest reworking it to a new ability that is a ranged single target skill shot (projectile) that stuns the target. This can have multiple different uses in a competitive PvP arena. for example hitting a ranged stun on the healer while you try to finish off another enemy player or by hitting a stun on the kill target to engage on that target together with your team. This would be a way more balanced ability and way more fun… and in contrast to Ice Shower it would actually require some kind of skills to use.

Hell yeah. A deep freeze that allow for some good burst setup sounds cool. Makes me actually want to play Ice Gauntlet.

Deep Freeze → Ice Spikes combo could be fun. With some balanced modifiers that allow the frost mage to burst hard, as that combo sounds hard to pull off it should be rewarding.

Would be much more fun than Ice Shower and alot easier to balance.

Yeah, exactly. I would honestly consider rolling a mage myself if they reworked Ice Shower into something like that. It actually sounds so much fun. As long as Ice Shower exist I will never play it though… not going to be a no skill Ice Shower abuser :rofl:

You don’t even understand why Ice Shower is a skill. It has two purposes; 1) To give a run speed boost and 2) provide a defense for mages against melee.

The reason why melee, especially Great Axe users complain about Ice Shower is because it actually works as a defense…and in their mushy minds, that makes it OP.

Make it a ranged single target skill shot, yes. As in a projectile you have to hit that stuns the target.

Do you even read the forums or do you even play the game? That is not why people are complaining. Besides that is not a reason not to rework it. A stun can also be used defensively.

Why are you so obsessed with keeping the ability? It is not fun to use and it is less fun to play against… it does not even fit the action based combat. I can’t see any other reason than that you know it is broken and that you want to keep abusing it. Obviously you know it is broken which is why you are fighting so hard to keep it.

That’s ridiculous.

Ice Shower is only a problem for melee face tanking types. It is no more powerful or debilitating than Wrecking Ball, or Mighty Gavel, which completely knocks you flat AND does more damage, at melee range.

Yet…where are all the complaints about those skills, and cries for nerfs?

The answer is that the people who cry about Ice Shower, use those skills, so they don’t want those nerfed, they only want mage skills nerfed. Just like the same people complained about Primal Scream’s 2 seconds of CC.

Grow up.

We know the game at this point…cry about one skill after another, after another, that is anything but melee CC, anything that prevents you from successfully left click face tanking mages or anyone else, for that matter.

We know the game. It has only gone on this long because AGS has coddled the whining for too long, and clearly there is no end to it.

You are living in your own world.

Just browse the forums. There are alot of complaints about Gravity Well and Ice Shower. And rightfully so. If most IG players want it to be a defensive option, then atleast make the root break on damage and remove the slow that stops players from dodgeing. Right now it is the most broken offensive ability aswell. The root + the duration where you are not able do dodge will let a decent player solo kill most builds, just by landing one Ice Shower.

Ice shower is beeing abused by alot of players. Different builds, where the goal is to land Ice Shower, then have “fun” with killing the poor bastard that have no escape.

The ability is broken OP. The design is bad. It should be reworked.

The suggestion above is MUCH better and sounds way more fun.

If you think that Ice Shower is no more powerful than Wrecking Ball, or Mighty Gavel you are either lying or you are delusional. It seems like you do not understand the combat in this game at all.

It is not only GA/WH players that complains about Ice Shower… it is everyone… including ranged players. It is just going to get worse with the 3v3 Arena being released.

Yeah you don’t play wars–that’s fine don’t stick your nose in where you don’t know what you’re talking about. This is obvious.

Putrefying Scream decreases targets incoming healing by 30%.
Nullifying oblivion removes buffs (essentially eliminates hatchets from war because you can’t death defy away anymore)
Diminishing Orb cuts opposing buff duration in half

An oblivion and a scream in the middle of a clump makes it difficult to heal them, eliminates their buffs and empowers your team. They absolutely swing the outcome of clumps and point fights.

Throw in ice gauntlet and you get additional roots/slows and an escape in entomb.

That’s just wrong man. I can roll away before anyone’s follow-up attack on both of those abilities with as few as 2 freedom perks. Which IMO is a necessity. The problem with ice wall is even touching it slightly removes your ability to dodge away (which again in situations isn’t a bad thing, but the fact that it is instantly applied is the issue).

Ice shower is just OP no matter how you defend it, it is the only ability that gets me killed 80% of the time and NO I can’t avoid it while it is casted on top of me in mass fights.

But hey that is not what bugs me the most about it. Every time my character gets Ice Showered I keep rubber banding specially if I use a feral rush to try to get out of it. I lag for like 5-10 secs and my charter gets bounced all over and walks like if I pooped my pants… I now that is part of the debuff, but the lag or something makes it worse.

First of all, entomb is not an escape…lol. It is a self root, in fact! :rofl: :rofl:

Second, everything you listd is a Perk! Not the skills themselves.

Petrifying Scream does NOT reduce healing.

Oblivion does NOT remove buffs.

Orb of Decay does NOT reduce buffs.

Get your facts straight if you want to debate. Everything you mentioned is a perk, without which evrery one of the skills you listed, with the excpetion of Oblivion, is utterly useless without the perk.

The same cannot be said of Grav Well, or Wrecking Ball, or Mighty Gavel, all of which do as much or more CC than Ice Shower, do more damage than Ice Shower, and have more range than Ice Shower, without any perks at all needed.

So, tell me…do you want to move your goalposts again and ask to nerf the perks, or are you going to stand your ground and state that all of those Void Gauntlet skills are powerful in wars without any perks necessary?

No, I don’t want them to nerf it. I want them to completely rework the ability. I agree with the suggestion above. What Achilles wrote. That sounds like a very good ability that can be very usefull for both defensive and offensive plays. And, it would require some skills to pull off consistently. The weapon would become more viable alone and it would have a higher skill ceiling. Which is a good thing imo.

You said it should be a defensive ability. Not me. The problem is that you want it to be everything. You want it to stay OP. I don’t get how that is fun. Hopefully it will get fixed before 3v3 arenas.

Either you are just trolling and want to continue to abuse an OP ability, or you are just clueless and don’t understand how broken the ability actually is.

I told you, I take several Ice Showers a day, I get hit with them every OPR, multiple times usually.

They don’t bother me at all. I can still block I can still attack. I am not squishy so I can take a few hits.

The only time they bother me is when I am trying to get through a door and get showered. I usually die then…but that’s what is supposed to happen. That doesn’t make it OP, that makes it functional.

For the record, I don’t consider Grav Well to be OP, either.

Hammer skills are OP in the sense that they can do tons of damage, and they can be chained, but each skill in and of itself is not OP.

Frankly, I find that a lot of players in this game, at least on these forums, are just soft. Soft minded, soft emotionally, and they would rather demand nerfs to other weapons and skills rather than adapt or avoid.

I think if Ice Shower is your biggest obstacle in PVP, then maybe you aren’t nearly as good as you think you are, or your build needs to be changed to adapt.

I think if you run full dex with light armor, for example, then you should die if you get caught in Ice Shower. That’s not because Ice Shower is OP, that is because you are squishy like a marshmallow as a consequence of your build.

I htink if you are a heavy armor melee and you get in Ice Shower and die as a consequence, it’s because you haven’t learned to block, or to attack, when you get caught in one. You are probably just standing there mashing keys that you know aren’t going to work, obsessing over what you can’t do, rather than thinking what you can do, and adapting to stay alive.

That’s what I think about all these people screaming for nerfs to Ice Shower, they are the same people who demanded nerfs to Void Gauntlet, and to Fire Staff, and to Muskets, and it will go on forever, and people need to start calling them on it.

Well, I am calling you on it.

If I go though your post history, I am betting I will find you and the other suspects in this thread have a history of calling for nerfs for just about every mage or Dex build weapon.

What will we find in your post history? Will we find that you have a history of whining and asking for nerfs?

Entomb is a cleanse, and a fortify while allowing you to reset the board after someone has burned their cooldowns. That is quite literally an escape from the meat of anyone’s rotation. It’s entomb, cleansing pot and away you go.

Again, I’m sorry–do you run without perks? That’s just silly–if you are running a VG those three perks are essential. ESSENTIAL. You might as well not be running it. It would be like running firestaff without empowering fireball or accelerating flame thrower and then calling fireball weak and flamethrower a self root.

Honestly if you were running VG without those ability perks I wouldn’t slot you in my wars–flat out. Almost every weapon has a few required ability perks otherwise you are literally gimping yourself.

You think alot of things, but you do not understand the interactions between abilities in this game imo. It is no point to argue with you. You clearly don’t see the same as me. Your perception of the combat and gameplay is different.

I play with alot of different weapons and builds, including IG. My favorite is Bow. The only weapons I have not played with is GA and Hammer.

I don’t write this feedback because I want IG to be bad. I write because I want it to be better.

I think a rework of Ice Shower to what Achilles suggested would make IG more viable. It would be able to do more plays that sounds fun and interessting. Now it is sadly only viable because of cheese builds that only abuse Ice Shower.
