The ice gauntlet’s Heavy Freeze passive is extremely overpowered due to the what appears to be ability to permanently freeze people in their abilities or outside of them for several seconds due to the Unending Thaw gear passive.
When fighting someone i don’t mind having to dodge abilities or stuns like the hammer stun or the spear sweep, javelin or kick. But then there’s the Ice Gauntlet with it’s Heavy attack Stun passive. I’m pretty sure 90% if not 100% of the Ice Gauntlet players are using this passive.
The passive allows them to ice Storm you and then heavy attack stun you inside of it for a second. Doesn’t sound too bad but there seems to be no cooldown on the passive itself so they can constantly Heavy Attack you and Freeze you for a second per heavy attack. add into this that they have massive slows in their ice abilities which means you can’t run out of the ability. Charges from Great Axe should in theory be able to help you get out but they can’t due to the Stun from the heavy attack. The only counter play to their builds is to either Join them or to dodge roll twice / thrice while fighting them but in most cases they then just grab their Fire Staff and charge away which in turn gives them enough time to get their cooldowns back for their Ice Gauntlet stun combo. If it doesn’t they just Ice Entomb to buy those few more seconds they require to get their Stuns back.
I don’t believe pvp in this game should be a battle of who can stop the other from playing the game first. it should be a fight of skill and experience. I genuinely doubt a 1v2 situation is possible if both of the players you are fighting are running ice gauntlets.
I’d love to see the Heavy Freeze passive either reworked to be a root instead of a full stun or to it having a proc Cooldown for at least 2-3 seconds.
