If I hear the phrase "pulling mobs" or "mass aggro" one more time

Not only do they have an incredible range, their damage is incredibly high, they can basically stunlock you and now they’re pursuing you? Thank god I haven’t witnessed that yet.

Yep, also their auto long range attacks poison you, if you get hit by the dig ressurface you get staggered and they fart leaving a poison cloud nearby (it’s lovely for melee).
Reekwater is gonna be fun and these guys are not even the worst there.

Agree with several points OP makes, one of which stands out.

“STOP PLAYING THIS GAME like it’s WoW!!!”

Amazing isn’t it…that this game…is NOT WoW. People don’t seem to be able to grasp that or that this shouldn’t become the new WoW or any other MMO for that matter. Go play them instead instead of trying to change this one into your old one. Some systems are different or slightly not like every other MMO because…well…guess what. This is not every other MMO? :joy:

I like the fact you cannot just “pull mobs” and zerg them at times, or run away and they chase you for a good distance. Why? Because it is actually nice to see that you are not some overpowered demi-god and you actually have to watch what you are doing at times, depending on the make up of the area you are attacking or going through, outwith levels etc. Hopefully they retain that. I am aware some areas need slightly re-worked but other than that the core system itself I like.

gatekeepers gonna highhorse

does crouching add any “stealthness”?

Not replying to anyone specifically. Just adding to the topic.

There are times when mobs will aggro from the floor below (Blight Mires in Malevolence for example). Some situations where, in most mmos, people would not expect mobs to aggro due to (what THEY would perceive as logical barriers to such things). But… if I’m in my home and someone’s running around upstairs, I’m going to go check it out… so I don’t mind that the mobs do too.

Now… if people want to talk about serious aggro issues. We can talk about what we dealt with in Everquest. Intended aggro issues. Where if you pulled something and ran away from it back to your group, the mob would go, “Be right back… let me go get some friends.” The Estate of Unrest was notorious for this. Ghouls would go round up the entire estate and run out the front door to murder your entire party if your tank didn’t nurse the mobs all the way to the group. I cannot count the number of times I had to hold a carrot (or my own head) in front of a ghoul’s face walking his sorry ass back to my group. God forbid I go around a corner too fast and that sucker gets a good idea to go get some help.

Aggro is fine. It’s a great game. Enjoy your time in Aeternum.

Also… it’s okay to pull a dozen mobs in light armor… just don’t get hit.

Take a chill pill man, cause your whole rant is false …

I’ve seen it happen, I know what “random mass aggro” are about.

Basically, from my own test, mob have two states : In fight, and outside of fight

They aggro you naturally on range based on the level difference, like most MMO
If I strike a mob, I only generate aggro on him.
If I heal someone or myself, I generate some aggro on all

Once again, like most MMO

The trick come to how “in fight” and “with whom” is determined.

Basically if some dude run in aggroing everything to “run it out”, the enemies are in fight at start receiving aggro from a huge area, meaning that any self heal will instantly bring the whole flock on you, despite the fact you didn’t directly attacked them.

ehh, no, Mobs as he said it really means multiple enemies.
But Mob without the s means a single enemy.

But i do see alot of players run in almost yelling LEEROY JENKINS … and then pull alot of agro and then die and expect me to revive them … well if you run in like leeroy then expect me to leave you on the ground dead

First time I’ve even heard of this ‘complaint’. MMO terms are serious business.

No, you are wrong. The aggro is legitimately braindead.

Some examples:

  • I’m in a house fighting some annoying ghost. The mobs outside the back of the house are clearly unaware of my presence. Some other player walks by and activates them, but instead of attacking the player RIGHT NEXT TO THEM, they run around the house, go in the door, and attack me.
  • Even before reaching their chase threshold and retreating, and despite doing 0 damage/threat, mobs will frequently turn around and attack another player. Some players are actively using this to try to grief other players, I’ve watched it and been subjected to it–just yesterday one player did it 3 times in a row to me, and another did it a whole bunch of times to a guildmate.
  • In many cases it seems that a NPC respawns very quickly (1-2 seconds) PRE-AGGROED. Meaning, say, I killed it far away from its spawn point, at a distance it would never notice me if it was standing on the spawn point, but the respawned copy immediately chases me anyway.

It is absolutely broken.

Yes I believe so. I’ve used this at times to sneak up on elk for example

Not sure if anyone has said this already… It seems to me that aggro mobs will always be aggro regardless of your level. However, the higher your level the less aggro range the mob seems to have.

I quite like the aggro mechanics. Even though low level mobs chasing you can be annoying.

This does seem to be a problem though…

I came here looking for this response. Those scaled dicks piss me off so bad I went back to a lower level zone, leveled up skinning which I had not planned to do until max level, just so I could go back to those alligators jerks, kill them, skin, them, and throw the hide on the ground to decay.

I hate alligators.

Actually I forgot one:

  • If you die and respawn at a camp, sometimes the NPC won’t DE-aggro and reset, it will stand in place with glitching animations and you can just walk back and continue killing it where you left off.

So let me help.

The aggro distance in this game is very unusual. Mobs chase for way too long and way too far. Unique to this MMO, and not something I’ve ever experienced in 30 years of gaming. Yes. 30.

The aggro range is fairly standard. I can run past and run by some mobs and not enter their aggro range and all is well.

I if fly too close to the sun, then I’ll get burned if I’m in higher level zone. Standard MMO mechanics. By design.

Finally, this is the first MMO to come out in a while that has any intrigue and made waves through other genres. This has captured players form Fortnite (sadly) and it’s their first MMO. They don’t know what they’re doing, they’re having fun (or not) and no one has told them otherwise.

Who cares. It’s an MMO. People will control their character however they choose.

LOL, alligators are the easiest “elite” enemy in the entire game. Just stay on their side, rotate as they do, and they can’t hit you with either their mouth or tail.

The amount of pretentiousness in this post is incredible. definitely seems like /r/iamverysmart content.

  • I hate been chased on miles by mods and when i finaly hit them, they run away immediately … It’s a bad mechanic.
  • I love been able to make big pulls.
  • I really love been able to agro mobs and guide them on bots…

Your post is a joke, so I’m just gathering some herbs, a dude fought and ran through a lot of mobs from “far away” and decided to target me who did absolutely nothing.

Seems like I have done a lot of “threat” by stealing herbs in their lawn eh? LOL

Never said they were hard to kill, just have a huge agro range and are annoying as all get out. Easy to kill yes, that is how I skin them and leave their meat on the ground to rot.
