The day when 600 isn’t the max GS, then you’ll need to use the expertise system to level up again or keep using your now weaker 600 GS gear.
I think understanding the new system takes an above-average level of effort on one’s brain, which some are not willing or able to give.
It will take a few more days for some to understand the changes, how it impacts them, their server, and the game as a whole. Let us all be patient.
From what I saw the update for people to keep gear score is bad like the original change was going to be. Will cause more anger in the long run for anyone without leveled expertise, and with the time/grind increasing it will be worse for them.
So someone feels good in their BiS 600 GS, then a modification happens like the fire mage change, so we end up with someone losing their optimized gear without having the expertise to change off it. Many people will end up in that position as the game progresses
Devs still don’t get it, they are doing this change to keep “progression going” rather than making PvE enjoyable and adding content.
I get 600 drops a couple times a day, and its still not the best items I could use. You can’t even buy the items i want on TP so there is still plenty to farm and make money off of. Our TP has crap for good items on the TP. Totally worth grinding that wm still
Well if you don’t, and then when the level cap and GS increases you will be even more behind in WM.
But it is up to you to decide what you want to do is the point. Like the game was advertised. I always have wanted to both, switching from craft to WM now because I can’t bare to try and get a second craft to 200 right now lol. I know WM is a big grind too, but I think both are fun. But can only do so much of one before it’s too mundane. And it’s good to switch it up.
Dont the new perks trump the old ones so yes you will be running about in 600GS equipment but the new stuff is better. Not all 600s are built the same.
I also though thought this one thing to be a strange call, but following on them stating that iot was wrong to reduce player power they couldnt well leave it out.
Next tier is the great gear leveller, this one is a failed experiment but one thats learnt from.
Because 500-600GS wont’ matter as they expand the content which is also why it doesn’t really matter that they will grandfather the gear in.
When 600+ releases that is where we will see the purpose behind the Expertise change, and I highly suspect crafting into the 600+ is going to be incredibly expensive and time consuming.
In the end if you have any intentions of playing NW into 2022 at some point you’re just going to have to deal with the Expertise system, like it or not
It’s a hackneyed choke solution to the problem that people are apparently hitting max too fast.
Of course, perish the thought of adding more to do-- just do the same thing divided into more avenues of number-crunching.
The real Amazon experience is getting to calculate the efficiency of your play cycle.
You CAN’T BUY max gear score items that won’t be scaled down.
You can CRAFT max gear score items that won’t down scale. If you buy a max gear score item off the market your not crafting it.
In early 2022, when we start reducing the effectiveness of gear to your Expertise level, we will exempt the following items:
- Any item you craft
- Any item you earn from a quest
- Any item you purchase from the faction shop
I believe these exemptions are concurrent with the patch: after the patch, these exemptions will supersede Expertise (as they probably ought).
Should you by any means grind your 600 gear now, I believe you will keep it past Expertise: nothing about the Expertise update suggests anyone backsliding, it will only establish a gate between max and leveling, and will not push anyone’s progress anywhere-- whether they have it already here and now, or whether they read this post and do it for the next six hours.
To my understanding, anyway.
Here’s a better question:
What’s the point of playing the game if you can just buy the best gear in the game with gold?
The only end game content is grinding up your Watermark (soon to be expertise) to get better gear and max your damage/healing output - so grinding your Watermark is easier.
But if you can just buy it right now, and hit your cap, what purpose do you have to keep playing the game?
am i missing something your new expertise cap wont be whatever you just bought on the market.
its that whatever gear you bought is grandfathered in as exempt.
meaning unless you have the absolute perfect rolled 600s right now (which i mean you could) you will still end up wanting to grind out wms for other stuff and eventual future content considering a 620 item was data mined.
and once the grandfather period is done anything new will be armor synced.
yes currently some of the best items are crafted but that doesn’t always have to be the case. and its probably going to fluctuate as more things come out.
realistically the only thing this does is anyone that isnt 60 at the point of the armor sync update will lose out on higher gear score gear being grandfathered in. is that fair? obviously not but its about the same for every other change or the original option that was suggested to all sorts of people. just happens this would of been the least damaging to the majority of players.
If anyone actually took the time to thoroughly read and understand ALL the changes, they’re actually quite good compared to the rest of the shit they’ve rolled out. Not great, but good.
I should know, I bash AGS all the time. I just have the integrity to recognize the things they do right as well.
Literacy is a major problem on these forums.
The true problem is they downgred stuff that released, resolve is to implemend this new system to new zones they will add to the game.
this would still be the most ideal but i have a feeling the bean counters are REALLY pushing this armor sync thing.
especially since it appears they dont have any plans for once level caps get raised.
Yes I think they will bump GS with update with new zones and this 6 dungs. Also they maybe increase level cap.
How do you gain Expertise?
Is it Weapon-based? Or general activity based?
I’m assuming Watermark still determines your drops GS score, but how does Expertise work?
I don’t fully understand how it works.
crafted gear won’t raise expertise, self crafted gear is uneffected by expertise, along with quest drops and faction gear.
in order to use any item you didnt craft yourself, you will need to level expertise
the expertise nerf to level was always planned for 2022.
The point is not to nerf player’s current power levels.
You do know this game will persevere and maybe in the future new people will come in and it will affect them or people leveling. If the game goes on for more than a year and new players come in it will shape the game as desired.
There are numerous instances of games being 3+ years old and new players couldn’t fathom how it was the first few years of the game because it’s just different.
