Such a small contingence of players care about those things and it’s only those with a narcisistic problem that would believe otherwise. Ofcourse people cannot distinguish between their problems and the problems of the community, being mentally incomenent only allows them to project their preceeved problems onto others, assuming that everyone shares in their vision.
Realistically the problem with this game is that they mainly focus on those 4 points and the vast majority of players do not care for them, and as a result the game is having mediocre success instead of having mass appeal, like they would if they focused on the real problems.
Bugs that are not game breaking will never affect the overall playerbase, as proven by games that are most popular (examples such as CoD and League of Legends, games that have been plagued by bugs since their inception and it never stoped them from having massive playerbases).
Weapon Balance is not done based on public feedback (or at least should never be done) its a numbers game, your or anyone elses opinion on balance is completely irrelevant to the subject. The only feedback that can possible matter is on mechanics, x mechanic feels bad, y mechanic feels good… but “this weapon does too much dmg”, " this wepaon does too little" and garbage like that has 0 relevance.
Been playing OPR, Wars and Arenas for hundreds of hours… I have seen maybe 2-3 ALLEGED cheaters. The less skilled a person is the more they suspect the other party of winning by unfair means “they must have cheated”, “they must have used a weapon that is much better then mine”, “i was lagging”… again stems from the self importance in general trash gives to themselves, since they see themselves as some sort of gods of gaming that could never do anything wrong… theres nothing they could have done better…
On the other hand, the better u are at ANY game the more you think u could have done things better even when u totally dominate the enemy.
It is the bronze mentallity that some will never be able to escape and as such will never be able to grow and improve their skills.
RNG crafting??!?! Every single activity, can be succesfully completed with 2 perk gear. including all M10 activities and , you will even be accepted to wars if u can play, regardless of having 2 perk gear or BiS, being able to follow orders and have a average level of competency will be way more important. Most war companies will provide you will the oportunity to come and prove ur skill when they are recruiting, most of them do not require u to link gear, but to prove that u are competent in a practical test.
So yeah RNG crafting matters very little.
None of those are problems that majorly affect the game, nor things that the majority of the MMORPG community cares about, but it is something these developers focus on in their dev community videos and other crap… and are using it as a smokescreen to hide the real problems and the real things they should be focusing on.
Part of that is because exactly what Haakor said in his post. Bugs and exploits were absolutely destructive at launch. Also at launch people could tell it was just a grinding and horrible RNG simulator. The game disrespects peoples time. Nothing is rewarding for the effort and you could tell that in the first month.
It’s not about if you or I find them challenging, it’s that you get rewards for PvP no matter what, just for participating. If you can’t get through the expedition you get nothing, or less then depending on how far you get.
So PvP just requires participation, expedition require at least some skill to reach completion. Sure you can argue that the unpredictability of PvP requires more skill, but to reach the rewards at the end of it, PvE requires more skill.
Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance. They need and seek too much attention and want people to admire them. People with this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care about the feelings of others.
Someone is considered incompetent when they are unable to manage their own affairs due to mental incapacity.
Just pointing out what such actions entails.
How would u call someone who believe their OPINION on BALANCE is VALID, despite them having 0 empyrical evidence for such claims. Making such claims based on their PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE ? (especially when they are not pointing out that it is only their perspective and as such has no empyrical evidence to support it).
How would u call someone that believes their PERSONAL PROBLEMs with the game are shared by the majority WITHOUT providing any evidence to prove their claims, more-so when all CURRENT evidence proves otherwise when taking a QUICK LOOK at the MMORPG genre.
How would u call someone that BELIEVEs they are superior to everyone else and for some reason the only reason ANYONE else would be able to perform better then them is because of the problems the game has or some unfair advantage (cheats, gear… whatever else their feeble minds can come up with)?
FF14 successfulness has to do with the cult following spanning more than 2 decades.
NW doesn’t have the same following, and never will.
AGS has ultimately screwed up their chance to ever get anywhere with New World. They can’t get balancing right, they can’t release a major update without dupes or some sort of major crafting bug.
Lumberyard is broke, and it was a mistake to release the game using it.
It was a mistake to go from being based around PvP, to trying to spent 1 year trying to change the direction of the game, prior to release.
The game was ultimately a failure, and is a waiting room for something better.
That being said, I’m 4500 hours into it, and will likely keep playing until something better comes along.
Well, I’ve not touched the game in a few days, due to the poor state of PvP atm…
NW PvE is mind numbing and boring. Due to how boring it is, I personally struggle to find motivation to do it lmao.
Im NPD because i think fixing those 4 issues would improve the game?
Wow. I believe personal attacks of the nature you are making (calling someone a narcissist and mentally incompetent) break TOS. You should probably consider editing or deleting your posts.
Didn’t personally attack u, just pointed out…that the way you present ur opinion as facts is narcissistic…despite not having any evidence nor posibility to obtain such evidence, because AGS is not sharing backend numbers with us and in the cases where you have the oportunity to obtain information you chose not to and state random opinions as facts.
If anything u attacked urself, by holding such opinions.
Were that true, than the original version of FFXIV wouldn’t have bombed. It, too, was a AAA MMORPG. It just sucked. They poured tons of money into it, and it was absolutely horrible. Even the relaunch was just an okay success for a few years - look at this chart as evidence. The game has grown in fits in starts; there was no massive playerbase at the beginning.
Same thing goes for Star Wars: The Old Republic. That game is by any reasonable standard a complete flop, and was obviously failing hard less than 2 months after launch. And this, I will remind you, was at the height of Star Wars’ popularity - before Disney bought Lucasfilm.
So, no - having a baked in fanbase really doesn’t count for that much at all. Yes, it can help pad out numbers, but do you really believe that most of the people playing WoW at its apex had played the RTS games before it? Because they didn’t. WoW attained its smash status through word of mouth and pre-launch buzz; it ticked enough boxes for enough people, and those people were able to talk their friends into it. It “being Blizzard” really didn’t matter to most of the playerbase.
Yeah on top of actual lore, pve, and pvp a really big one will be simple things like this. I’ve said it before it’s the little things that go a long way.
A lot of these suggestions are definitely what the game needs. The issue is y’all expect this to happen tomorrow, which just isn’t going to happen. It’s going to take time. At the end of the day you have to be patient or just put the game down for a while.
What I want to see is the leads on the development team a) confirm that the current direction doesn’t seem to be attracting the numbers they were anticipating, b) commit to making changes to that philosophy moving forward, and, most importantly, c) promise that the servers aren’t going to be shut down (because, let’s be honest here, while Bezos can afford for them to remain open and for development to continue, he can also afford to just eat the entire cost of the project and shut things down tomorrow).
What I want is an acknowledgment that things aren’t working, and a promise that there is a future. Because, frankly, I don’t feel confident of anything right now.
Truely it didnt get the massive popularity until Asmongold started playing and streaming it. Regardless of what you think about him, he had like over 2 million people watch him stream Final Fantasy. It was at this same time that FF started selling like hot cakes and they had to do tons of work to make servers and crap available. IIRC they even blocked salse for a while until they got a handle on it. At the same time a ton of people were fed up with WoW. Before then it did FF ok but nothing like it does now. That all started with his streams. It was a perfect storm just like WoWs success was a perfect storm.
Is NW as succesful as the top 6 MMORPGs ? (WoW,FF14,BDO,ESO,GW2,LA)
NO ! Most definetly not.
Is NW a succesful MMORPG?
It has a concurrent playerbase of around 20k players, and using mathematical aproximation around 130k-200k active players. This makes it quite a succesful game from any game developers perspective, most developers would litteraly kill to have this playerbase.
You have to think of all the games that have a 1-2k concurrent players and are still going strong, not only the ones that have 200k-300k concurrent players.
On top of that they are finally showing that they have a small graps on monetization, with the loadout sets, season pass… in the future with transmog charges and ofc the mount expansion… all this will increase the income and despite the very few (that complain about it) the vast majority of people playing this game make purchases [like in most MMORPGs]. The game is making good money, some of that money will be reinvested in development and the future of the game… you get the drift as they are moving forward they will keep making money and continue developing and improving the game.
Hopefully this new monetization options will mean we will see faster progress, because lets face it… NW is one of the slowest MMORPG to release updates, and probably that is due to the “small development team”, there is no other logical explanation for slow content.
That being said I too would wish to see A) and B), maybe they could hire a consultant that could guide them and give them some semblence of direction and understanding of the MMORPG genre.
lol, monetization wont bring folks back. A good game will. Not sure what folks don’t understand about this. Plus, they recently said they made enough money at launch to keep this game in development for years. I highly doubt the meager amount of money they are making off season pass and store items even covers their overhead. Best thing they could do is scrap the game and make it on a different engine, otherwise NW will always have a lot of the same major issues.
