Just wanted to share this post I created on the Feedback forum. If you like fishing, please reply on the link page and add any ideas you may have as well. The more brainstorming the better, as we might be able to help the developers. 
I really dislike the leader boards project that vein players covet. It takes away from gameplay advancements. Especially when the fishing in the game is click to cast, click to set the hook, click the increase tention and release to loosen the tention repeat those last two steps until fish is caught.
While there is so much more like pulling the rod back to react to a fish trying to get some slack to do one good burst, or pulling tention to either side to keep the fish ahead of you and possibly walking the shore line to avoid water hazards like logs. The fishing in the game isnt fishing even if they took one of those and put it in the minigame would be a vast improvement but the leaderboards take priority because catching fish in the game is acceptablewhen comparing to rune scape by casting and then waiting for rng. The desire to be slightly better than mediocre is a 2020 problem
