Except those games require you to do other things other than just buying the matts off other players. You have to actually play in the games to get the matts / be able to craft the items.
Of course there are games that do this.
I’m not saying they don’t exist, but that isn’t New World.
New World came with unlimited potential.
If you wanted to grind potions all day and become the potion warlord of whatever server you are on…
You could do it and with the money you made you can then buy good gear.
You were never forced to conform to a specific play style, but with this new update you are without a doubt forced to play the way they want you to.
New world is so easy as it sits that you can literally just do everything.
People have maxed everything out within a month of launch… that’s not good.
Being able to do everything is what makes/made it so special.
You could do anything and still achieve end game gear.
I 100% agree that it is to easy, but specifically tuning it and forcing people to play a new way is a good fix.
There are so many other ways to adjust this.
EXP, Limiting materials, crafting the perks themself, adjusting drops, so on.
Why would you have to do content / actually play the game to have the best gear…?
Because if you just want to get to max level and have the best gear instantly by buying stuff off the market / farming it for a day then you should play something like Minecraft…?
I’m not sure what your server is like, but mine high end gear is pretty expensive.
500 gear score is meh, its pretty cheap, but if you are looking for 550+ with good stats and perks your going to be dropping some heavy coin.
Some of the best helmets are going for 10k and I don’t even want to mention chest armor.
Very few new players are goign to be able to afford a set like that.
Although idk, maybe your server prices are low.
I could understand where you are coming from from that perspective.
Being able to buy the best item for 500g would be pretty disappointing, but not every server is like that.
These rules are going to be affecting everyone on every server.
Because what’s the point of even playing, then?
There’s literally nothing to work towards other than grinding gold?
How is that fun? It’s not.
You can ask this same question about any other aspect of the game, and you can even ask it after the change.
- “Whats the point of playing if your goal is high gear score?”
- "Whats the point of playing if your goal is being good at pvp?
As I mentioned above, one of the special things about New World is that you can do anything and still reach end game.
It is an amazing concept, as long as you put time into it and grind it out… you can achieve it.
Yeah I agree it is way to easy, but crippling some people for how they play isn’t going to fix it.
All it does it tilt the balance and force players to play the AGS way.
Yeah having the top guilds control all the wealth and gear up their players by buying up all the materails off the market and using their crafters to make the best gear in the game is so fun…
How many games doesn’t suffer from this problem?
Even games that force you to play missions for Locked/Binded items still have this problem.
You can easily power farm a newb and help them grind items by talking them on high level quests and dungeons.
… actually that is how I met half of my friends on new world.
Helping new players defeat tough bosses, meeting people for dungeons.
It is a great way to create engagement and community.
It does have down sides as you mention, but almost every MMO suffers from it in one way or another.
And what is worse, this wouldn’t even fix the issue.
All it would do it slightly slow solo players down while large guilds/companies would still fly past you.
That’s what needs to happen. So that’s good.
Everything in the game, even on my dead server, costs literally nothing…so that’s good.
I disagree with you. I think higher prices are good.
I went into this a little bit above, but this could have a different impact depending on your server.
It seems like prices are pretty low on yours, so increasing them would be useful.
However, on my the prices are still pretty high. Raising them up could have a very different impact.
But I also don’t like to just sit in town and buy everything and have the best gear in the game due to that…
so I can see why you wouldn’t like it…
Crafters don’t just sit in town all day buying everything.
They still have to farm materials, level up, do quests, grind crafting skills.
That takes a lot of time and gold… that I’m sure you 100% has benefit from.
I find it pretty hard to believe you haven’t bought any high quality items from the trading post.
Do you even have a territory? Or help with territory project boards?
Someone has to grind those, someone has to buy those materials.
Crafting is so heavily intrograted into every part of this game that it is almost impossible not to craft or need high skilled crafters.
Even if you farm bosses all day and pvp, you still need those potions.
