Never been an issue on any MMO i have EVER played. EQ2 supported over 10k users per server and never once in 5 years of playing that game did i ever have to wait to play outside of updates.
This… all day… everyday.
Literally burns my insides up that people make excuses for this company knowing other game studios have done it with less hardware AND less capital.
naw… ill take a refund
Can I have your stuff? I don’t know what you’re complaining about, because I started on a new server back when they first opened newer servers and haven’t had a queue issue since.
AGS is OWNED by amazon. AGS is NOT! Amazon. Y’all need to figure that part out.
THey legit stated the amount of interest was far higher than they expected. They had a server for alpha, and only had around 200-500 playes semi active. Beta got a lot more traffic, but also had just as many returns/cancels as buys.
The game launched with way more attention than expected, especially when big streames, including asmongold, cried over it and degreaded it.
They have added a ton of servers already.
Amazon has all that cloud computing. Which they own many subsidaries. AGS is bottom of list.
Many other studios also charged out the ass for alpha access and crowd funding. Many had little to no starting capital and failed (ffxiv) until fixed years later.
WoW had a ton of issues where many could not play for months. FFXIV had many people unable to do anything for years until ARR. ffxi had a lot of issues as well.
understandable about AGS not being Amazon. But their making team have been hyping the game for years now. Not sure why they didn’t expect it to blow up as it did.
When you own something or someone, you put your name on it.
This man here confusing WoW Classic with WoW Vanilla. Vanilla did not have nightly, unending queues. WoW Classic, like NW, knew it had insane interest before launch and chose to botch it.
You can make all the excuses you want and they’ll be just that… excuses.
If you want to be the “new standard” in mmo’s, you don’t do it making your initial player waits hours in queues.
Nah, you leave them as “they are a subsidiary but not atually part of us and are run and controlled in a seperate way.” is the way they do it for a lovely, cover your own ass process.
This man here is confusing nostalgia for factual issues that were even in gamefreak and game informer magazines about issues.
ios is not a new normal. It jsut simply is. For pretty much any damn game anymore. Cyberpunk, GTAV, most korean MMOs, final fantasy. Diablo 3 had its own issues.
THe issue over the queue complaint is countered by the fact they had a ton of servers EMPTY. Yet, people did not go there, because “but this server is popular,” thought process.
Nothing here is new. People being dumb, not utilizing the many possibilities .
The closed beta and the streamers. There was so many bad rep being pushed everywhere and lost a ton of people canceling preorders.
This happened to me last night, I only had a small time to play and just couldnt sit in a queue so I made a new character, Im thinking both servers are going to be full again when I try to log on. I agree with OP, this is totally unacceptable from ‘amazon’ with their resources. Some indy company Id definitely have a lot more sympathy and patience with.
They are not going to fix this any time soon, why elske would they spend time on AFK’ers if they had a working fix!
They can increase the cap somewhat, but not enough to remove the queues. The world is full of people already, doubling the cap, would make this worse than a chinese subway in the morning.
They can open transfers, but they are not going to make thousands of people move to a new server, which will also be full aftewards anyway.
They stopped people from creating chars on full servers way too late and now they can’t fix is here and now.
7 hours of queing yesterday, do you really think they can fix that on a server that is already full?
New game or not, they knew how many preordered the game and they should have closed all full servers instantly, not after a week
new queue made me laugh XD , im stealing it
I already said I moved to LOW pop servers 3 times during my peak hour, each have now become “HIGH”. These “EMPTY” servers don’t exist, or I’d move again. There are no empty servers… I looked before I made this GD post. I only made this GD post because I had the time to make the GD post because I wasn’t playing the GD game…
You call other people “Dumb” but your reading comprehension should be on trial.
I’m done with you…
True. I’m pretty sure most of the returns were made by NW’s original target marketing audience. After I tried NW open beta, i was on the fence. Im hoping they revert the changes made in June and December
no matter the company, if you plan for 500k players and get 1.5m on launch day, are you going to be paying for 3x the servers you have presales for.
What would have happened if only 300k had shown at launch, they would have had probably multiple hundreds of thousands lost on servers that wouldn’t getting used, but you would still have to maintain them just in case people came a day late.
It’s not business savvy to have been able to pre-handle the number of players they got.
Longest I’ve ever waited for Tulgey Wood is 15 minutes during peak.
new world status dot com
Utilize it. There are an absolute ton of “empty,” worlds with under 100 players, and a ton with under a thousand, with no wait time.
That alone proves your post wrong.
I was not calling you dumb kid. I said people doing dumb stuff. Like trying to force 14,000 players on a 3,000 player capped world and knowing it was so from the very beginning.
I’m just saying this isn’t always going to be a full proof plan. I started on a high pop server (which was my own fault) and after seeing the massive queues I decided I’d just roll on a low pop server so I could actually play. I chose Vidblain and now I’m sitting in an hour queue when I log on even though it was low pop when I joined. If they offered free xfers to another low pop server I’d 100% take it but we’re literally stuck without another option besides re-rolling which I don’t think anyone wants to do after putting in 24+ hours of investment to a character.
