Let me just say, the so called dev blog did not help my issues. I have quit the game due to I find the quests so boring. 15 percent of the launch playerbase left because of such issues. Here’s my constructive feedback if you want players like me back.
Turn the tutorial quests into more of an engaging story more linked to the main story
Streamline the main story a bit
Have a actual storyline of each faction
Have more npcs running around the world with engaging quests with them
Hide the fetch quests except for townboards into more engaging storylines
Have more different objectives instead of kill x numbers of mobs or loot x number of chests
Until Amazon actually listens to players like me, we will never come back.
I’m still playing the game and have no intention of quitting, but I totally agree that the quest design is horrible. It would be nice if they made some improvements there, but I can’t imagine that happening to be honest. At best, we might be some better quests in later expansions, whenever they come around.
New Worlds doesn’t know what it wants to be… is it pvp, pve, crafting sim? so many pvp balancing issue, pve was clearly an after thought, and the crafting system is needlessly cluttered. I’ve been playing it like a action adventure crafting sim
There are other MMOs who focus on story and have more complex questing. New World is an old-school grindy MMO, and not for everyone. The gathering system here brings players out exploring the world without needing an overarching mission.
But then it failed at that as well, making certain parts of the game and quest and items bound to the PVE experience… There is 1 single mission in New Worlds: gear score, pvp doesn’t matter cause they have no leaderboards or ranks, territory control only really matters to the 5 companies who care, no story line even Diablo the grindiest of games has a good storyline. And Crafting is great, if that’s what you want to do, but why do we have 20 tier 2 items that are interchangeable? And other than established old school grindy mmo’s like runescape they all died cause they didn’t cater at least in some way to the casual player… same with Hardcore PVP mmos.
Have I missed this infographic? I’m very curious to see these numbers. Where I can find it?
If they start to get rid of these kill X mobs here, then kill X mobs there would be great. Things get even worse when you think about doing the 580gs questlines.
BTW, I’m highly disappointed the dev blog this week did not even mention anything about the weapon durability loss
this game is a year if not more from being ready for beta testing. What’s the purpose of the game? What’s the motivation to continue to play the game? They build a BEAUTIFUL world on top of a hollow shell.
(1) They’ve been too busy dealing with cheaters and exploiters basically since the game launched.
(2) They are unlikely to revamp the story or at least not in the short-term. That sort of thing requires planning.
(3) The best move they can probably do in the short-term is to make sure every step of the main quest is solo-able, including Expeditions, as players are having trouble finding a party to do those, even when they have a Tuning Orb. Plus some of the crash or bug out.
Honestly the story is quite interesting, even the town questlines. But how they tell the story is horrible.
