Whether that comes in the form of brand new servers, (with a much better structure than 14000 allowed but 2000 at a time nonsense, maybe even with the ability to make more than 1 (gasp!) character in a server in this here MMO) or a complete wipe of everything.
I think the most popular option is gonna be the first one, but in reality if we delete 1.5 months of work to secure an actual fair and balanced start to this game, it would do much more for it in the long run.
AGS we’ve had what, 3 or 4 major dupe exploits? There is no validity to the endgame at this point.
1600+ bans or whatever its up to is great, and a fantastic move, but it’s a bit too little too late.
I have absolutely no desire to partake in anything past level 25 now, it’s been completely cheapened. I’ve been waiting and waiting for this game to get to a much better and safer point to really jump into the endgame, because let’s face it, it hasn’t really existed in a state worth working towards. It’s been up in the air whether or not I can even use the trading post when I log in.
From the broken staves and missing OPR to wars being completely school-yard favorites, the list of reasons to “wait it out and let them fix it” have been long. Now that that point is actually approaching, I’m again faced with “while you were being patient, everyone else duped half the game and there’s no way to tell who did or didn’t take advantage of that.”
It’s a real shame. I hope something can be done, as I’m 100% sure I am not alone in this. No one I know personally has picked this game up in weeks, and for this reason almost primarily.
Suggestions? After the server merge, create 10 Brand New untouched servers. Open up the character creation limit to be 6, not 2. Allow people to create as many characters per-world as they want. This IS an MMO now after all, lest we forget. The 2 character limit is an absolutely massive and crushing HALT against realistically playing New World with your actual friends.
If people can join up and play a New New World free of exploits, and early game breaking bugs, with their friends easily this time, without having to delete old characters, or because everyone’s got deleted anyway, I can see this game bouncing back up to 500k.
