Impaler Side of Spear tree

I don’t disagree with anything you say.

One way or the other theres a couple logical ways to buff the zoner side for sure

I wouldn’t say that. Notice how all of those things that you listed require a hit. A lot of weapons have some nice passives that don’t require any interaction with the enemy (for example: empower after dodge, CDR when casting in a frosted area, movement speed while looking at a target) . Or very easily applied debuffs through big AOE abilities.

I wouldn’t actually even say that zoner tree needs very many buffs, cyclone definitely needs a tweak. Reserved strength probably needs tweaking too after the stamina Regen change…although idk anyone who was really using that before the change either. Also I’ve mentioned this before on a different post but I’d put aggressive maneuvers somewhere in the zoner tree just for balance.

Sweep and its associated upgrades is pretty nice.

I don’t disagree that its not completely reliable buffs.

But it does have the potential for a lot more damage than a lot of other weapons.
If you get x3 rend for 30% damage taken and engage your 30% damage per debuff. thats +60% damage BEFORE empower.

So many damage buffs before empowers just does not exist for many weapons

And on top of that it has built in empowers and crit modifiers.

And on top of that it has built in cool down reduction.

All on one side of a weapon tree.

Yeah. I’d say javelin is solid too. Really it’s just cyclone and the capstone passive imo that need something.

I agree. As it should though, since it’s single target for the most part.

I don’t think its game breakingly OP and should be nerfed.

Every weapon tree should feel this powerful.

Yup!

Lets pump the brakes on the call for spear nerfs.

Next update spear has gotten a major hidden nerf (all weapons did but it effects spear in a more direct way)

So for the longest time the perk bleeding sweep allowed for a bleed form the coupe de grace final attack. this would proc a bleed coded as a heavy attack this bleed would constant refresh the 15% fortify and refreshing passive in the spear skill tree. not only that a spear with keenly jagged if proc’ed by the coupe grace strike would proc it as well.
Since this “bug” has been fixed on PTR spear will see a slight nerf to the built in CDR
Also this keenly jagged bug worked on all weapons with the perk but it just has a special use case on spear.

I think we should see where spear lands in ranking with other weapons after the patch.

Didn’t they fix that in a previous patch? Like awhile ago?

Nope still works on live as long as the target takes bleed ticks

Oh. I could’ve sworn I saw it in some patch note, but I don’t use sweep so I wouldn’t notice.

I main spear.
If this is the case, then it is not a nerf, its just bug fixing.
hth are you suppose to get 15% cd reduction and 15% fortify from the bleed ticking every second?
thats just too buggy.
I never used those perk, but i m glad they fixed it in PTR.

ps, just tested in live.
the bleed does refresh the 15% fortity, but not the CD reduction.
still half bugged in live.

My humble opinion on this is that Spear has slightly too high stamina regeneration and thats it. The damage is fine for me the abilities are good the perks are great. Theres nothing much to complain about the weapon in itself.
If we tune down the Stamina gained on crit we present you the most balanced weapon in the game.
Agree on the left tree buffs required I tried to run a bit Musket / spear with cyclone if it will help me to create some distance when group trained by enemies. It just throws them barely away from their melee range. It definitely needs buffs.

For the last spell on the the 25% buff when full on stamina I think its strong as is. If you use an Opal you basically have a permanent damage buff either when you have no stamina or when you have full stamina you will always have % increased damage.

And well my usual banter about fortify being broken. Nothing to do really with the spear nevertheless still broken.
Oh and my favorite! Im not sure which of those 2 skills is broken but please fix it. That was retard moment of the day for me. xD

Pass :eyes:. Still one of those things that relies on chance, unlike rapiers evade stamina, stamina on any hit, and free Regen while riposting.

the Issue I have with it is its 20 stamina. If you run skewer and the bleed increased crit strike got crit strike on weapon Plus its glorious range and lunge you just cant get away from it. Theres absolutely no way because even if you run light armor rapier he will catch you due to his stamina he recovers on hit.
Im not saying to shitstomp it to the ground what AGS likes to do but adjust it to like 10-12
Evade needs me to autoattack to get lower cooldown and its short range. Else its got a 9 second cooldown.

Personally I like that there is a melee weapon that can consistently stick to rapier, that isn’t also a rapier.

Well GA and hatchet do so as well. Ofc you gotta run light armor with those.

Kind of. The problem with those is that you can catch up but not stick because of the long recovery frames for the abilities.

The thing is you need to get used to it a bit. Reap is very crucial because it counters Fleche as well as it counters mage dash whatever it may be called. And if they cant fleche out they are screwd.

Even if you forget to dodge riposte because of grandma reactions you got a free card with being able to switch while stunned to hatchet and berserk. After that its just a not nice show of shoving your hatchet up my 8k hp arse.
But people like to absolutely ignore the fact that berserk is a stun breaker and just randomly activate it.
Right here is a funny one when I tried GA Hatchet for the first time. Its a older video like 2-3 months old. The moment you force a dex player out of stamina its GG usually especially with the new delayed stamina regeneration
