I’ll be posting about it on the forums too ![]()
why would you ever get rid of the one actual gold sink this game has.
the maintenance is there for long term econ control.
you could disable it on fresh for a week or 2 but that’s really all that needs to be done.
what may be important to look at is where the snapshot on payout sinks occur, if payouts are hourly still and based on upgrades then there is also an hourly gold sink.
that’s a problem
what should be occuring hourly pay rate should pay out the full split and the sink should occur at the same time as when the maintainence is due. it takes a snap of total upgrades and if it’s less than 39 it adds to the maintainence cost the weekly income by the percent loss for the number of upgrades.
that way sinks are occuring weekly and not hourly and gives time to recoup losses.
You don’t seem to understand why this is a bad coin sink. It’s a coin sink that gets worse with fewer coins in circulation.
huh???
and is effectively no longer a gold sink on a fully mature server where every town is tier 5 across the board. It’s weird.
I agree with this 100%
They need to do it like every other game and take the gold out of circulation before the players even see it. Instead of a 2.5% tax that goes to the companies… a 3% tax and 2.5% goes to the companies and the other 0.5% is the gold sink (same as above, I’m just pulling numbers out of the air, Amazon would have better data to determine exact tax amounts)
Hence, the original suggestion. level 0 territory still retains 50% of it’s fixed income rate so it lessens the damage but keeps the premise.
It’s not full-proof but definitely a decent start
I’ll remind everyone on how to build a proper coin sink.
Also, making upkeep a progressive rate would be better. Also, make the station upgrades mandatory and a part of the upkeep. The only upgrades that you should have a choice over are the fort upgrades.
@ Whoever is in charge of the economy of this game.
@Loviel Proved that sell listings are actually a gold sink.
He went on PTR and checked statements and i think 1/3 of the taxes paid putting an item up for sale goes into the oblivion and is never seen again.
This should be how they handle all gold sinks, get rid of upkeep and just skim it off the top before it’s every paid out.
or they could improve on the faction store.
ADD SOME DAMN WEAPON CHARMS TO THE FACTION STORE ALREADY!!
I do understand which is why I said you have to look at the snapshots of when those sinks occur, second you just disable them for the first week or 2 to accommodate a steady state.
3rd they should have had a population based scale on the entire system from the start but haven’t bothered so what happens is when small servers merged into big servers all those players.
anyway move the gold sink to the same time as the maintenance due if it isn’t already hourly payouts should be full split payout of the Terry. whatever number of upgrades you have when you pay maint is when the sink occurs and it takes the weekly payout total and calculates the sink based on the upgrade weighted payout of your town and you pay it at that point in time. failure to do so is same as failure to maint.
No. You’re working the wrong way. Upkeep costs would have to be hourly.
Yeah, they need something that is used regularly. Like repairs, respec, etc.
hourly snapshots on maint would result in lesser payout overall no?
mine would require less snapshotting and allow ppl to really only focus on 1 day a week to maximize the payout of their terry, while largely keeping the system intact.
i do like your thread though and think that may be a nicer refinement long term, for now it just needs to be simple quick and dirty.
I’d say even just disabling the maint for 1-2 weeks in fresh should be enoughm and softening the bottom end would be 2 decent quick fixes to give time to build a better system.
I do like the idea of plunder or tribute situations where the threat of total city destruction can occur requiring reinvestment. but it shouldnt be so punitive as the current numbers have it starting from 0
I think you guys are making this more complicated than it has to be… get rid of Maintenance and just skim all the “costs” out of the game when the transaction takes place… when you refine X% is taxed to the Company revenue and Y% goes to New World Gold Sink.
It does make sense to pay out the revenue hourly I guess… or they could shift it to daily or even weekly as far as I care, but the gold sink and the revenue payouts don’t have to be linked.
Thats actually basically going to be just a lazy person or new person tax, then.
If theyre taking 1/3rd, nobody “thats serious about character progression” is going to use it.
Theyll just spam trade WTS all day or link to their google docs ![]()
I didn’t say it was a significant one. Lol. But only 2/3s of it actually goes to the Treasury.

He went on PTR and checked statements and i think 1/3 of the taxes paid putting an item up for sale goes into the oblivion and is never seen again.
67.77% of listing fee is deleted.
100k taxes from listing fee. Nobody bought the item, so no sales fee was tested.
territory ownership in less than 2hrs no dungeon runs required
