i feel soo bad for my furnishing company mate.
got 2 aptitude chests so far and got a bear rug and a fluffy stuffing.
crafting in this game is absolutely bonkers for no reason.

Since 595+ gathering drops from anything outside of crafting, then there’s no shortage of these types of perks.
If that really is “something” players want in their crafted gear, then perhaps the other solution is for recipes to have different tiers. Tier 1 will require less mats but have a greater range of perks. Tier 2 will require mats than Tier 1 but will have less of a perk pool. And so forth.
I think endgame crafting right now is probably the vision they had for it. They probably wanted “crafters” to be a dedicated small % of players - be it a person that a guild funneled or someone who focuses all their gameplay on leveling up crafting. That’s probably why they released that patch that added more barriers to crafting by making it more difficult to level up.
The rich guild problem is a problem AGS made on their own. Not only did they respond too slow to gold exploits, but they also did not put any restrictions on how guilds are amassing taxes. I’m sure they have the data now to show how much guilds are making a week… but I doubt they’ll address it any time soon.
Exactly. They need to do recipes relevant… Even if they are BoP.
I would prefer to pay 200 asmodum, 200 runic leather and 200 leg wood to craft only one really good BiS Spear than to play this stupid casino game system.
200 furnishing are the true heroes.
The way “guild piling gold into the crafter” works only if your company owns Everfall, Brightwood, and Winterfall or all of them. Then it’s easy to burn all those millions of gold into materials and hope for some BIS. But for ordinary guild it’s just not possible as one roll can go easily for 10 000 gold, most of the players can not make 10 000 gold per day and you need to roll hundreds of items to get a single decent one unless you are a very lucky guy.
or you sit there for months burning your own cool downs while farming/buying the mats
only for a small handful of chances at the yellow pointy stick that has a small chance at the perks you want.
we finally got an armorcrafter that can processes up to 595-600s. im excited and dreading the prospects of finishing up my expedition sets.
Legitimately gambling.
200 Arcana, Weaponsmithing, and Furnishing
The timeless shards was a great idea. But it needs to be two perks. Also let me brute force to 600 gs using runestone or some other material. Because I can’t afford 150k+ per BIS gear piece. But I sure as hell can afford 2k or 3k to go into gen/laz to farm a 590+ weapon I can now upgrade to 625gs BIS.
It will no longer add up post Jan patch. It will make it worse for the people who grind thier crafting up and do it right with trophies, crafting gear, food, and town buffs.
At this time I honestly wish I had not wasted the time and money to level anything.
Was waiting for this post. Yes, crafting RNG is awful in this game. Even if you had no CD on these high-end mats, this would still be a system that makes the majority of players feel bad. In fact, it is one of the reasons my entire group quit over a month back.
We all know those people who roll 1 ring and get BiS, then you roll 50 and get nothing usable. Apply this to any item, it feels awful. We need more control over crafting, it’s just so unrewarding right now.
Timeless shards are way too rare for what they offer. Even if you could force a relevant stat every single craft for free (which some weapon types can with 200 armoring, but not all), then it’s still a drop in the bucket with how bad you can get hit by the RNG gods. Make stat selections available by default, and make timeless guarantee a 2nd perk or even just 600GS.
They already added 2nd perk to craft (timeless shards) for 10x usual amount of resourses. They could have add third perk for 100x resourse and 4th for x1000.
Like i have 600 GS reciepe. i can put there 10x Iron battalemedal (30 Str) 1x Jagged animal claw (Keen) 100x Pristine bear claw (Keen emp) and 1000x whetstone (vicious). That could do. You could craft much of those, but you will have chance to choose 3 perks for ur item.
While we hate the extra grinds, finding alternative ways to spend already-existing resources that can also enable workarounds for the RNG would be a good move. For instance, combining low-usage ingredients to make items used to pick certain perks rather than toss the dice to Lady Fortune.
The tradeoff for an RNG gamble then, of course, is that it’s the cheaper alternative on upfront costs (and maybe some of the mats for perk-pickers are some of the harder, rarer elements to find).
Remember… time gates are generally bad for rote content, so try not to consider these as needing one!
I think that salvaging crafted gears (or even just salvaging legendary crafted gears) should give a new resource that you could use to reroll (or even chose a specific) second perk on an item. That would make crafting much better. You could use this resource to slowly perfect an item.
Oh man, then have you seen the RNG to get the chance to have more RNG?
Please willard. armor essense. some armors come with partial static perks.
how useful would it to be able to get a timeless breach closers shard that always guarantees corruption ward. especially with dynasty mutations coming up soon.
same with all the new stuff from laz.
Surely down the road crafters will be able to make 625 etc. Currently crafting is pointless, in a week or 2 everyone will have 600-625 etc. Leg… everything from the m1/2 runs and nothing crafted 600 or not will matter.
it could naturally happen when new zones get released and more houses become available and or houses limits or trophies limits get increased (poor crafters getting screwed by house taxes F)
Letting your 595-599 crafted purples proc into legendary with a random 3rd perk if you use Umbral to 600 would be a great addition. I crafted 75 fire staffs, got nothing I wanted that was legendary but I had about 5-10 out of those that rolled sub 600 purple with 2 perks i’d love on a legendary variant. If I could roll those up to 600 for an additional shot at my BiS roll, that would be welcome.
More control even at a price would be cool, but unless we can craft higher than 600 consistently, crafting is going to be pointless very soon.
I think there are a few changes that could be done.
Either by default or by letting the crafter, restrict the perk pool. Whether that is letting us pick more/all the perks (extra required materials, increased cost/effort), or picking specific pools (PvP/PvE/Crafting) that are linked to the attribute we set, or just removing a lot of the junk perks by default for crafters.
As others have suggested, recipes. Make them hard to get parts for, and a lot of resources, but either static recipes for 600GS+ gear that are actually good (Maybe even BiS for some builds), or one use recipes that let us pick perks, but require more materials doing so.
Let us increase or even guarantee a chance at a 600GS+ item by consuming more materials or a special material. But a lot cheaper then crafting 6 of said item which is the normal chance.
The actual reasoning behind this is based on the latest patch. Right now people can run mutators and get loads of 600GS+ legendary items, many of which are named and often BiS. They’re getting multiple every run and they’re far superior to anything people can craft normally.
So crafting would need to be able to focus on different things that aren’t normally BiS or like the named drops. We need to be able to target more/all perks on an item so we can tailor the item for a specific build or task. This item would need to have a high or guaranteed chance at hitting legendary.
I also wouldn’t be against making some of the required materials being BoP or untradeable. Crafters would have to go out and get them, and they should be gotten from gathering and maybe some other activities, but definitely not the mutator expeditions.
I picture a future where crafters go out gathering/farming to get rare/legendary mats, and offer their services to players to custom make high end items for them at high cost. Basically making crafting another “class” in the game. Instead of PvE or PvP, crafting is another whole class/group on it’s own. Maybe we can get new wepaons or tools that go in the weapon slots that further increase our chance at higher GS, and can push us past 600GS.
The way I see it currently, crafting is dead. It is too hard and too expensive to craft anything that is worth something, it is now an endless money pit from which you’d never gain a profit. Everyone is looting/finding 600GS+ items in mutator dungeons that are better then anything people can craft.
I wrote about this and many other issues here:
