Ah yes, it’s absolutely fine to degrade someone so long as we can assign a 30/70 statistical chance to it that suggests it wasn’t intended to be racist, when the avatar the player being abused has dark skin…
Sure, it’s all good then. The world is right, so long as we can degrade others without any consequence. If they just so happen to actually not be white and we’ve just called them a monkey, it’s just fine because there’s a 30% chance it wasn’t intended to be racist.
Do you lot actually think about what you type before you hit your keyboard?
Dear lord please bring back old Call of Duty chatrooms. Not sure if this post was to get attention, but how does anyone know what the color of your skin is? Please stop acting like you’re the victim because someone on the internet hurt your feelings. If you feel like you’re being targeted, please use the in-game report option and not bring this to the forums.
All I can say is sorry. It must be epically exhausting to not only experience this racist shit in real life, but in game as well. AGS needs to respond harshly to any bigotry in game or on the forums. And yes, to anyone who is black being called a monkey is a long time well known racist slur. Those who don’t know it are the ones who don’t get it and probably use it without realizing its origin.
I hope you can get some sort of response from the devs on this. I’ve had to turn off global chat because of toxicity, racism, and sexism. I figured it was just part of MMOs but that shit really needs to stop. It reflects badly on the community, on AGS, and it drives good players of color, women, and non-binary genders away.
Anyone who thinks they should respond to my reply with “grow a spine” or “grow thicker skin” needs to “grow a brain” - This isn’t SJW nagging. We’re all human beings just trying to enjoy our time in a game. Just accept everyone’s differences and go about playing w/o spewing bigotry based statements and labels.
They have forced people to change name for having ‘fart’ in it because it might be viewed as ‘morally unacceptable’ to some individuals. If anything they are oversensitive.
Racism definitely exists everywhere my friend, it’s just that each culture has its own identity which not only makes the target of racism different (maybe) but also the style in which racism is carried out as well as other factors, I should say I have no official expertise on geopolitics, yet we can assume that different cultures might not even recognise the racism another culture deems abhorrent.
