Again literally just add an honor system that grants titles and cosmetics and so many people will flag up…
I agree you could have resources that you gain from pvp content, that you can use in crafting. In the same way as you have resources that you gain from pve content. but why would you have pvp only gear? That makes no sense to me. I am playing the game as a complete experience and I want to enjoy all aspects of the game… I do not want to exclude everything else the game has to offer even though I like pvp. I do NOT want a set of gear that I can only use for pvp and a set of gear I can only use for pve. I think wow did this in general really really bad. Basically just putting up a barrier between pvp and pve. That is not ideal.
Having only one set of equipment to use in both aspects of the game will always benefit PVE players, because in the end, they dont run a high risk in trying to get these items.
On the other hand, if you make it easier to achieve these items in PVP, you will put a large amount of players in a forced feeling state which results in bad PR (as long as the game isnt promoted as purely PVP).
Having 2 seperate sets of items that perform better in their own aspect of the game, solves this problem by not creating it in the first place.
If you have gear with stats that only apply in PVP battle and provide a larger bonus than PVE items do in PVP battle, this is something PVP players are chasing to get (as well as PVE players with a bigger than casual interest in PVP). The same goes the other way round, if PVP gear is subpar in PVE scenarios, this still creates the same effort to do the same content, or in case you consider yourself a better player, you can skip it as long as quest progression allows you to do so.
Worst idea ever and it killed pvp on Wow.
I always utterly hated those shitty feature that make stuff different for PVP and PVE so PVP can focus on pvp stuff and pve can focus on pve stuff.
Its probably the worst idea ever in a mmorpg, its just divide the community and honestly on what purpose ? so you can get a gear that a PVE guy wont have ? jeez…
The only fact that you are a PVP guy already give you an advantage on a PVE player who dont like pvp.
I sincerely hope AGS will not listen those shitty idea that make one community becoming 2 communities. ( and im a pure pvp player)
If they do something like they did for Wow : ndlr a stuff for pvp with a special stats that you can’t loot in pve, i’ll quit the game right away.
I do not understand this argument to be honest. Ideally gear should not matter that much, atleast not in pvp, and the battle should always favour the one that plays it better, not the one with the “best gear”.
Instead make pvp and pve content reward their own cosmetics and titles.
My personal ideal PVP game doesnt use a levelup system or require items with stats.
But this doesnt apply to RPG, and I can live with that to a certian degree as that at the end, every player is using the same equipment anyway and the better player (or choice of weapons) wins.
making different gear will just make things worst : Giving advantage of pvp players on PVP and giving advantage of PVE players on PVE.
Its like making communities goes in different ways. bad idea in a game where community should be the center pillars of everything.
In my opinion world pvp is not only about killing other players. It is about creating an environment that engages players in whatever they are doing. If I am always risking to run into other players that I have to compete against, I will enjoy the content more. It is more exiting to go out gathering iron(example), if I sometimes have to fight for it. It is these real, random, engagements, that occur naturally, that is world pvp to me. It is super fun and actually makes me enjoy gathering. Lately though, no one on my server is ever flagged, which is super sad. Creating more incentives for being flagged is super important. The solution they have mentioned sounds good to me, but should probably not be over the top, so players don’t feel forced to flag. A small bonus to luck and gathering luck should not make players feel forces to flag, but rather be a nice incentive for being flagged for the players that don’t mind world pvp. The long term solution should be to reward pvp content (and pve content) with unique titles and cosmetics. Don’t split the player base.
well part is what dez said… but the rest requires popcorn and a good seat to watch.
i’ve played on always on pvp servers, with separate gear for pvp/pve, and the servers not being stand-alone from the pve ones being the most common and easiest way to do it.
the screams, the rages, the demands will be epic… especially if there’s a seperate set of resource nodes that are for the pvp gear. probably a lot of:
- the balanceeeee! - which will never be achieved, games have tried, it never really works out and some meta will be found and be the only way to do things. which is boring to a lot of us i would think… viva the great axe!
- you did this or that to the pve gear and made the pvp gear uselessss! - from the bleed over effect that can happen, it can go both ways… and why there should be pvp only servers and they need to be completely separate from the pvx ones.
- why does that server get this, we pvp too! - possibly from the pvx crowd when it comes to changes in pvp gear that should only be on a pvp server.
- this or that megacompany owns the server, we can’t farm nodes/find decent stations for our pvp gear! - anyone who thinks this can’t happen, hasn’t paid attention in the beta or that it took less than 2 weeks for several servers to become one faction only since launch. several have ruined servers for shits and giggles.
- why aren’t the devs fixing this or that immediately - with their even more divided team who needs to work on pvp only aspects for gear and servers.
i’m not an advocate for separate servers due to technical issues, and i definitely think right now is not the time for them to work on them, or pretty much changing game mechanics for whole zones. but hey, if we’re going to demand all that shit, might as well go for broke, even if will be a nightmare… or entertainment.
as for the barrier? a lot of pvp players in the forums want the barrier, it offends them to see players doing the same pve shit as them… that they can’t attack. this is what drives a lot of these posts, they don’t want to see pve players in a game they see as theirs because of the original design years ago. it’s a mentality as a pvper myself i don’t understand, i knew the playstyle of the game when i bought it, PVX.
Actually a dev post you can find in the devblog section of the forum states that they’re going to add a luck bonus to flagging.
if it’s just loot luck or gathering luck as well I don’t know but they are doing that AND adding new PvP events.
you can be right, or not, I don’t know how things are in each person’s mute, but apparently it’s the same as the world I’m in, I rarely see anyone with open PvP, why? I don’t know, maybe they just want to play the game and not fight with random people without a logical objective, many casuals preach more peace in the game than fighting, because if that were the case, everyone in the game would walk with open PvP and not there would be reasons for this post, the only thing I understood is that some want to force everyone to go PvP and that’s the worst failure, the base player will just fall a lot more, I was fishing on one side, a guy of mine arrived side with open PvP and started fishing with me, ok, another guy with open PvP passed by and killed the guy who fished beside me from behind, this guy went into town, turned off PvP and went back to fishing on my side, so based on that, many just want to play the game and not be forced into PvP.
maybe if the player with open PvP kills the other without the other fight back and he gets Karma monster and if they kill the “killer/PK” he would drop all weapons/weapons with him, maybe encourage the PvP or avoid kills/PK’s like that I saw.
For everyone who said it was not a good suggestion… Welcome into the void. Now game makes sense. PVP is alive! Great job Devs
Yeah. The only thing worse than the PvE only players complaining about the PvP incentives were the PvE only players being completely fine with the incentive-less PvP that existed before it.
I highly doubt you’ll see an increase in open world PvP, all this change accomplished is alienating the two main groups of players further.
Granted, you may see more players being flagged but they will either run or not fight back. Of course that may be exactly the PvP you’re looking for…
True, but there won’t be any less post about PVP needing more incentives. Because they never learn.
Don’t worry. If I catch someone farming with PVP mode ON, I’ll hit them. If others don’t, it’s fine. Then maybe who will need to learn will be the PvE players to defend themselves, not us. They can also turn off PVP and lose PVP luck bonus. This is not our problem now.
Well, it’s faster to let you kill us and keep on going. No matter what you may pretend, the last you will get from incentives for flagging is better PVP. At most less pve-players in the game, but last i heared, to many players is not one of the problems of NewWorld.
You are the perfect example, why PVP-Players kill any game that tries to do more than just be a MOBA.
did you see last update? no democracy in this game right? xd
everyone is now with PvP turned on, isn’t that right?! Or is it still the same thing and for the worse?!
Worse? Maybe for you if you don’t like PVP or you’re playing in an empty server (that looking at the game status is quite probable). For me, u can be sure this is much more risky, inmersive, skill-based and attractive gameplay at all than just pushing E.
