I agree with his opinion so that that makes two
Yes it is, thats why we have forums. You basically want to be rewarded for not playing a game.
Can this go to the bottom of the forums?
This sounds like a “Participation Trophy” scenario, but instead being rewarded in-game for not playing.
No.
It’s not a reward, it’s a catch up system
Rested XP could use a little bump but not to the extent you suggest. As a dev you don’t want incentives for people to not play your game do you?
Oh boy. Amazon threw you fellas a grindy MMO bone prepared for later cash shop booster milking and you guys are defending it.
The reason why rested XP is low is to sell boosters. So the OP has a fair point. But it probably won’t dwell good with their business model.
God forbid working people would stand a chance catching up without spending money. We can’t have that right.
I work 50hr+ on shift. I don’t have tuns of time to play I don’t think it’s that bad
The sweatiest will always be ahead but allowing someone who can’t play 10 or more hours a day every day to feel like they aren’t being completely left in the dust is a good thing for the long term health of the game.
Why do you need to rush to get to endgame? There is not much content there. Everyone will eventually be the same level. If someone plays 8 hours every day they should be higher level.
Next you will want a catch up system for gold since that person that plays longer will make more.
Yes but you are punishing the people no lifing this game and that would never fly.
PvP
If you notice I said those players will always be ahead. All rested XP does is bridge the gap somewhat.
Theres a simple solution to this, which ESO has down to a T. Give the players a dailly increased exp pool, not to much as the max lvl is only level 60, and not upwards of the thousands like in ESO. Given to all players, the ones who play dailly, and to the ones who do not. The ones who dont use the exp pool in time, get to keep it and it will stack with the next exp pool the day after.
Example, lets say u get 2x exp, for the next 10k exp or so ( numbers arent important, just as a visual ). If u don’t use this double exp pool, it will stack with the next one, so now it’s 2x exp for the next 20k exp, day after that, 2x exp for the next 30k… and so on. Until it hits a cap ofcourse, although i woudnt know how it would translate into New World, but i find it a very neat system in ESO.
Can this be generalized as millennial entitlement that they make fun of this generation for?
I’m wrapping my head around how players know the history and have experience playing an MMORPG but actually just want the game boiled down to an action game by having rules and experience of the game tailored to their real life needs.
How does this shift happen without recognizing your own entitlement and some element of hypocrisy?
One part of the post you asked for a little bit extra rested xp (seems reasonable) then in the other part you straight up asked to have reset xp equal to players who play all the time.
That’s not a catch up system… that’s a handicap.
The last mmo I sank a lot of time in is dark age of Camelot. Haven’t had any reason to with most mmo’s since then. The problem I’ve encountered with a lot of recent MMO tho is they cater to the no life crowd who blow through content and then demand more.
By the time I get caught up, there’s a new carrot on a stick to chase and I have to start grinding again. I just want to be max level, with max gear so I can focus on pvp without thinking, “well if I had x piece of gear I would have won that probably”
I agree.
Don’t know how the balance would be, but an increase would be nice. Wow had a full Level Xp Rest Boost if I´m not mistaken. Remember that a XP boost is not the same as Free XP, you would still have to play the game. To say its rewarding someone for not playing the game is quite inacurate since you don’t get loot, crafting materials, crafting skill, weapon skill… All which we know makes up for a insane portion of the game. What is the big deal about a little more xp boost? Besides people that cant play 100hs a week will NEVER be anywhere near the “twice a week joes” in any Skill, gold or gear. Why deny some people the bare minimum for them to have fun their own way? They probably will end up doing solo or close friends group PvE. PvP is possible, but chance are they are gonna be target practice.
In summary, there is absolutely NO down side to the Sweeties(aside from keeping casuals “in their place” by denying what is the least valuable leveling up resource), and it could actually help some people to enjoy aspects of the game for longer.
This is one of the most entitled opinions I have read yet on these forums. There is a rested XP mechanic, it does help. Being offline increases it.
You want to have it so that you can catch up almost instantly to everyone else because you couldn’t play? That is just simply absurd.
The only person feeling behind is you, because you are putting that pressure on yourself. I am behind most of my friends and I play the game almost every night. I spend my time gathering and crafting, which gives me some XP, but not as much as those out grinding/questing trying to level. I am totally ok with this. I do not feel like I am behind anyone despite the fact that they are levels ahead of me.
Under no circumstances should you simply be able to quickly catch everyone else because they had time to put into a game and you didn’t. Just be patient, enjoy the ride and journey, and you will be “caught” up to everyone else eventually.
I thought the best customer always payed and never played.
The amount of sweaty players mad at the working people wanting a little more gain for the meager hours they’re able to play each week is disturbingly high.
