Which one is better? I think the cooldown of oakflesh is faster… but it’s so much more expensive than infsed lost ward potion… also does the potion work with the wards on your armor set?
depends what type of damage youre getting. the balm is limited to physical only, while the potions are all damage types from that particular enemy. you can’t really compare them without knowing exactly the damage type thats incoming.
well. I’m doing BNB.
also… the Infused Balm gets 35%, while the Angry Earth only gets 15%…
Those are 2 entirely different items. Never ever use oakflesh balms in any PvE content. Theyre way too expensive for that. It’s a sweaty endgame PvP consumable with low cooldown which is mainly used in wars and arena.
In PvE (bnb) you should use the lost ward potion, a honing stone and buff food and potions ofc.
And yes, the pot stacks with your gear.
oakflesh or gemstone only reduces half the dmg, but a larger amoun
ward potions reduce all dmg
the biggest difference is that ward potions shouldn’t be fortify, so you don’t get into trouble with your fortify cap since you’ll be stacked good by gems, buffs from yourself and your healer.
so you hit fortify caps really fast in pve what can make ward pots more effective, aslong you don’t get rend what reduces your fortify.

it’s not even close to half, and you dont get fortify from gems
Both have 120.00 second base cooldowns - 90.00 or so with Refreshing Toast.
They both expire after 15 hits.
However:
Oakflesh effects last for up to 20 seconds.
Ward Potions effects last for up to 30 seconds.
;
Oakflesh reduces a larger percentage of Physical Damage, whereas Ward Potions reduce a specific enemy type, which means all damage from said type, whether it’s physical or not.
Which one you need to use depends not only on the current environment/situation, but also on your gear and your resistances.
For Barnacles, Infused Lost Ward Potion is a better choice, because a large chunk of the incoming damage is not physical. You can also be 6-Ward + Infused Ward and not reach the Ward Cap (60%)
I have tested this extensively, and Tank (or heal) in 20 - 66 Con, in Light, in Barnacles. With Infused Lost Ward Potions, I can survive attacks that would otherwise one-shot me if Oakflesh had been used.

Anyone who is reading this please know that Ward Potions make a great substitute if you don’t have Full Ward, or if you, uhh… Forget to switch out of your Angry Earth Ward set after Neirid and do another run. ![]()
@Developer I just want to thank you guys for making the Barnacles dungeon more-welcoming to a variety of builds. By supporting build diversity, you’re also supporting skill disparity.
