Internet speed crushed by New World client

Windows 10, i7-10750H, 16 GB RAM, plenty of HDD space, nVidia 2070 Max Q

Getting “Lag Detected” and connection dropping errors in game at random. No specific place.

I normally get around 800 Mbps down and 600 Mbps up on a wired connection. Once I launch the New World game client my internet speeds drop to 8 Mpbs down and almost 0 up. During this behavior, the wifi speeds on my phone stay consistently fast. I’ve tried pretty much everything I can think of. It’s not my router. It’s not my ISP. Not my antivirus or firewall. This problem did not exist during Closed Beta.

Anyone have any ideas? Really frustrated that even when I can get into the game, I’m having problems.

Never heard of anything like that, but you can change the Bandwidth Mode in Settings > Preferences. Set it to Low and see if that changes anything.

I’m having the exact same issue as you. Do not have this issue with any other online game, only New World. As soon as I close the client, internet speed returns to normal.

Hoping someone has a solution to this.

I tried it in each of those settings without any changes in the behavior.

Nope. Tested Elder Scrolls Online, connection is stable.

Hmm, they did have people disabling IPv6 for other issues. You might try doing that.

Wanted to follow this up. It seems that I fixed the problem, at least for now. I have a Lenovo Legion laptop. In their Lenovo Vantage program there is a setting called “Network Boost.” I turned this off and the connection speed problems have stopped. I don’t have time to login and play at the moment but I’ll report back when I do.

Did this work for you? I’m on ASUS machine and have no such application; internet is still dropping to < 1mbps whenever I open the New World client. It’s made the game completely unplayable for me :frowning:

I two have this problem. Its insane tho i checked THE servers we connect agienst , and My computer bounces on Them all 186 hosts . Looks like amazon is minning me . THE first 2 min when i start it My internet works great and iam just connecting then to THE germen servers but after that boom from 10 - 186 and
