Invasion Lotto System - what is the point

What is the point of the Invasion Lotto when the commander can just repeatedly kick the people they dont want until they get the ones they do?

I was selected out of a group of 98 for an invasion, and then kicked and “randomly” selected 6 times - kicked each time until they managed to fill the whole army with Greens.

May as well get rid of the “random” lotto style system and just let the commander pick the whole field… or take away the commanders ability to kick a player just because of the colour of their skin!

Company which rules selecting players which will take part in this event. Mostly they take players from their cimpany to comunicate easy on discord. If they dont have enough ppl then take randoms.

It’s a fair question. I think the commander of the defending forces should have absolute control over who is helping defend against an invasion though. It seems pretty logical to me that the company controlling the territory might not want players from another faction there who might decide to try and lose the thing on purpose to downgrade the town.

Kicked twice for the same invasion here. I get @Hiply s point but there has to be a better solution. One thing that comes to mind is to not be able to reinvite after first kick. That way the boss gets some say, the workers don’t get yanked like a yo-yo. I’m not pissed about much but getting picked and kicked twice got a bit under my skin. Not the kicking as much as the kicking twice…

EDIT: I’m yellow and my server is entirely purp controlled, for context.

It is pretty standard for Invasions to be limited to only the faction that controls the territory. Don’t waste your time signing up for invasions that aren’t in territories your faction controls.

I think there’s just a wonky workflow around this whole setup process… As a volunteer, it’s pretty annoying w/all the overhead of waiting, getting pulled in, waiting some more, getting kicked, then spawning at the invasion town vs. where I came from. All ends up pretty frustrating. Totally understand the commander needing to fine-tune the roster, but on my end feels like thrash. Would really help if we don’t even get summoned until the roster is set. Not sure how we all get sucked in and then immediately booted, but seems like a bad workflow really. Maybe the commander needs better organizational tools, maybe the roster needs to be set and submitted before people get pulled in. Not sure.

This right here. If I’m commanding a territory defense the first thing I’m going to want to do is make sure everyone on that team is from my faction, not players from other factions who may have a vested interest in us losing.

If that were the case I wouldnt be able to do many invasions on my server… Green well and truly dominate the map.

I think if they are going to have a lotto system then it should be fair - get selected and you are in. Otherwise get rid of it altogether and just let the commander pick as per a normal war.

I agree - what would be good is if we could nominate what role we were playing.
I play almost solely as a healer. great if I end up as the only one on my team, but I have been in wars that had 3 of us out of the 5 as healers!

would be great if it worked just like wars. there’s no reason for all the noise the delta brings for the table.

I mean i get that its annoying to get dropped but look at it this way. a company (in general) invests a ton of time upkeeping and upgrading their territory, they have a vested interest in winning the event. in war you are keeping an entirely different faction from taking over so you wouldn’t want some one of that faction on your side.

in an invasion everyone still has a vested interest in that territory, especially if it has high tier stations. but its ultimately the commanders choice to collect and use the people they trust most to win it.

I think we can all agree that the people that put in the effort should reap the Invasion rewards.

The current system is setup very poorly and assumes that the governor doesn’t have 50 chosen ready to join. It is trying to help the governor get the 50 defender slots filled but is just causing annoyance for everyone. Governor has to constantly kick players so they can get their chosen 50 in, players are repeatedly kicked from the same invasion because the system wants to fill the 50 slots asap.

A solution could be that starting 30 minutes before the invasion the governor can start inviting players of their choosing and if they can get their 50 in before the 15 min timer then nobody gets annoyed. If they don’t then the game gets to keep its super annoying for everyone kick until the timer shows 0 fun. After 5 minutes til invasion the governor should be blocked from further kicking anyone at all.
