Is crafting worth it now?

With the PTR update a few days away I’m wondering is crafting even worth it? If best items are just random drops I’m not sure what the point I. Grinding out the last 55 levels in armor and weapons is goning to be worth it. Please someone restore my interest in crafting and why I would be needed at endgame?

Not really sure if it is. Lazarus has a ton of great stuff that is pretty much bis and you can easily use high watermarked gear to clear it. I just sank 50k worth of mats into some bows to try and proc something and they were all garbage. There is too much RNG to it with only being able to select main stat guaranteed or a perk which leaves the main stat open. There are a ton of duds on the auction house that won’t sell because people can afford to wait for the perfect piece.

Crafting was never “worth it” when the cost is so ridiculously prohibitive, it is ridiculously bottom heavy, and players get open-world gear drops like candy from a piñata.

If you are in the first 10% or so of players on your server, yes it is worth it.

This late into the game’s lifespan, it’s only worth it if you enjoy being self sufficient or messing around with the mechanics around trying to craft 600 perfect rolls.

Assuming they add the Tier V items necessary to craft a lot of the legendary schematics that have dropped this patch to the loot tables, it may become more valuable to have the professions leveled up as some of them are Bind on Pickup.

Agree. If you are one of the few jewelcrafter/armored/arcanist on your server, it is worth it. But that means your server is dead or close to it. You won’t sell any health potion because nobody does pvp, you may sell some equipment because nobody does elite runs anymore. But again, they will merge the servers and it’ll be useless anyways.
Right now, just level up your professions if you have some hope that AGS will fix them in the future (after they fix all the game breaking problems first)

If you have the patience to constantly mass farm chests to increase your GS then do it.

Personally, I’d rather (and have) level my crafting to make items that i want with the stats that i want them to have. Think it’s more down to personal preference so just do what you feel is the best for you.

Crafting is only “worth it” if your goal is to enjoy making things for yourself and friends. If your goal is to maximize gold, then you’d better be prepared to make your way to the top of a very large pyramid of ambitious and competitive players, many of whom think nothing of cheating and exploiting their way to the top.

In every MMO I’ve ever played, it was almost always more profitable to sell mats to crafters than to craft yourself. Gather, gather, gather, refine, refine, refine. If you can then resist the temptation to craft, craft, craft, and instead, sell, sell, sell, you will be rich, rich, rich.

A good example of this.

At launch I was ahead of the pack, there were maybe 10 players on the server who out leveled me, but they ignored professions and rushed for 60 to have an easier time gathering.

I focused on gathering and leveling a few different professions.

I was able to sell Tier 3 bags for 6k each and Tier 4 bags for 8k each in the first week of launch.

Neither of those bag types even really sell anymore, you might be lucky to get a 500g tip for making one for a new player that doesn’t care about their quest gold.
