A system a guy loathes is “meant” for him? thats a pretty funny interpretation.
It is. Don’t know, why they can’t just copy-paste from WoW system.
It’s not silly but it’s not aimed at legitimate players either.
When they ban someone, that person can’t simply get another account going and start up a character, quickly level to 60, then get RMT money or settlement money to buy their near-BIS gear off the trading post. Now they have time locks on getting to max gear score. This is surely meant as a deterrent to doing anything that could get you banned.
And you know it’s a band-aid solution to actually enforcing TOS and issuing bans because (for example) it messed up the faction gear shop where you still have level 58 gear rated at 525. How is someone at level 58 supposed to use it at a 525 rating now? Faction shop top tier gear is outdated - Game Feedback / Game Feedback - New World Forums
The gap in rewards is a major obstacle for the mutator experience in general. A bronze M10 is worth twice as much as a gold M8, without being twice as difficult. In fact the hardest part about M10 is having a full 625 set to run it with. Meanwhile a bronze M8 is worth far more than a gold M6.
What this ends up as is 0 incentive for older players to help newer players because the rewards are so much drastically lower. It’s no wonder shard selling is such a prevalent thing. Not because people can’t do the content themselves, it’s just vastly easier than trying to find groups willing to do lower level mutations.
It’s weird because they’ve spent a lot of time rehashing the 1-60 experience and adding new mobs and quests and lore, and yet the post-60 experience is structured against new players. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to join the game at this stage and go through all the hoops and progression obstacles just to participate with the rest of the community. Very anti-MMO.
I didn’t know that was a thing but that’s worse then i thought and yet people still defend this system
dumb people are everywhere
Ah yes because the second you hit level 60 you should be able to do all end game content. No progression or anything, just hand everything over to the player! How to make a boring game 101
At what point does a newly level 60 have the equipment to do all the content in the game? I already raised 3 lvl 60 and I tell you from experience. stop saying stupid things please.
i guess the last 10+ years of mmorpg history didn’t happen. - Surely there was nothing that could have been learnt ![]()
In other games the progression is via gear progression or else you gain power via another vertical system post level cap. I would argue that 500-590 there is no value… You gain nothing, you are just trying to reach an arbitrary number so you can then start grinding for power(i.e gear). I think from 590+ the system is fine.
There is still something to grind for and from 590 onwards will be fine in the future as we can carry out gear forward with umbrals. At the moment 500-590 is totally redundant.
that’s the thing it could have been like a form of horizontal progression similar to gs → that doesn’t encroach on pvp by just scaling gear to lvl 60 and use it to progress for pve dungeons and raids etc, not what it currently is
There was too much RMT and shell companies sitting on settlements collecting taxes. So a new 60 could in fact get near-best gear off the trading post if they had connections or were willing to buy RMT money.
That’s throttled by Expertise now.
You are partly right: A new level 60 by a legit player would typically not already have really good gear. But AGS is obviously trying to target exploiters such as people who duped gear, duped gold, etcetera and used all sorts of other loopholes and exploits.
Yeah sadly they are infesting the decision making group of new world, too
With the amount of money some of the companies have - see ruined economy by taxes - they don’t need to rmt - in fact i am surprised bots still exist in this game. there is no profit in a dying mmo.
I think they are selling the gold to the bots and the bots are selling it to other people or they are directly selling it to players as well.
You do know what end-game means, right? They still need to grind for gear, perks, BiS and 625. There is no reason to tack on 500-590 as well.
Going from 500-590 slows you down a bit which every mmo needs while also forcing you to learn the game and explore more of it.
Stop complaining. I met a guy that was level 59 8 days ago, we became friends and i help him out a bit. After exactly 7 days since he hit lvl 60 hes at 571 avg expertise ![]()

and no, he doesnt play 24/7, he plays like 5-6 hours a day maybe? And hes almost through the “”“long grind”“” ![]()

Oh yes because that takes SO much time to do when you can open the trading post and buy very good gear for basically nothing ![]()

and getting 625 can be done by just buying shards. Ive now met so many people who somehow have 622+ gs but they dont know any mutation mechanics. Wanna explain to me how that works? ![]()

And even if you do run mutations yourself to get 625 it really doesnt take long… so much progression
that you dont even need if you will mainly be pvping
Nothing, you just need to be lazy and do nothing for your life apart from being connected to new world hahaha
You actually think that playing an mmo for 5 hours a day is a lot? I dont think mmos are for you bro
