Is Gypsum and Expertise system still a thing?

I’ve been playing “mmo” since tibia, when you connected to the internet by phono cable. But the stupidity of people surprises me, I don’t know if they’re eating shit or what.

I’m not complaining mate, I’m pointing out a fundamental issue with the game. That has been pretty widely reported.
I am 625 in everything. It doesn’t benefit me at all to say this, but it will likely be a big deal to new players.

Slowing players down highlights an issue IMO. Yes other games have these mechanics to some degree, but as I said there is also a purpose to it. Your character continues to gain power via a grind that has a form of progression. In classic MMOs this was hard to acquire gear, in more modern ones there is another vertical grind. Though your gear can be acquired as soon as you reach level cap… It is normally held behind challenging content.

Expertise and umbrals are fine from 590, but 500-590 adds nothing to the players experience. I think the experience is all that matters. Perhaps you can think of a way it does add value though?

You don’t need to do mutations or buy shards to get to 622GS. I’ve never done a mutation and only done Laz a few times (Dungeons aren’t for me), but I’m 623 on everything I use by getting shards from Casts and OPR.

I won’t deny that people can buy BiS with RMT, but I’m sure it’s a very small portion of the player base doing the RMT stuff.

You can defend the expertise grind all you want, but even the dev actions (which is driven by metrics) show that they know it’s driving people away. They keep trying to make it “easier”, lol.

The issue is that NW didnt(/doesnt) have enough content to offer tiered rewards like other MMOs. Since our only 2 endgame dungeons were gen/laz, 500GS and 600GS players had to run the same dungeons together which made rewarding each player a difficult task… Even now that they have 4 dungeons, i dont think it would be possible for them to add a tiered reward system.

Hell, maybe they can? IDK, it could look like this:
-Sirens/Mono arenas drop 500-525GS
-Gen/Laz drop 525-580GS
-Temp/BBP drop 580-600
-Open world 60-62s drop 500-540
-Open world 62+ drop 550-575
-Open world 60+ corrupted breaches drop 575-590

Damn okay i talked myself into it, this would be better lol XD
Goes without saying crafting would need an overhaul to exist with this system…

It makes pve arenas, regular dungeons, chest runs and other forms of content not completely irrelevant. And i dont see why you think slowing down the player a bit has no purpose? The more you play the more you learn and get better at the game, which prepares you for pvp against older players or mutations. You really think it would be a good idea for a player to hit level 60, instantly get boosted to 600 expertise, watch them buy full 2/3 bis items from the trading post for 1k per piece and go do mutations or pvp without practicing anything like at all? Bro :skull:

So theyre making it easier, a lot easier in fact, and you’re still complaining? :joy::joy::joy::joy: the gaming community is so pathetic :joy::joy::joy:

If they have to keep making it easier they might as well remove it. I’m not the one complaining about it. It literally does not affect me or any player that has been playing since launch and never stopped.
Returning player say they don’t like it and they don’t want to do it so why do the devs keep wasting time refining it instead of its complete removal?

If a returning player doesnt want to play the game then tell them to leave lmfao. I keep meeting fresh 60s and obviously none of them have an issue with the system because they keep coming back every day.

Youre overthinking it :joy::joy: Maybe focus on ACTUAL issues with the game like shell companies and fps lag in large fights/cities that could legitimately drive people away. I love the game but those 2 things actually ruin the game for me at times. For example when i see bonzai incels with tens of millions of gold in their company treasure. So great

I don’t think we’ll see eye to eye on this. Have a good day👍

so basically lose the remainder of the population that would be willing to return lol.

You think it’s a good system. I don’t and it seems like a lot of other people think it’s bad too.

I can focus on multiple issues with the game at the same time…

Forgot about the PVP crowd:

OPR crates drop 525-540GS if you have <20 PVP levels
OPR crates drop 540-580GS if you have 20-35 PVP levels
OPR crates drop 580-600GS if you have 40> PVP levels
PVP tracks drop the same GS as mentioned above
OW player kills drop 525-555 GS
War crates drop special 590+GS named set items (i.e. Windsward Defender’s Helm)

Theres too many bad ones too list

And yet youre focusing on the “issue” that is basically a complete non issue? Youre complaining about the INCREDIBLY easy system that doesnt drive any sane person away instead of focusing on shell companies, bugs, lack of content etc :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

I think its pretty obvious reading these forums that people are turned off by the 500-600 expertise grind, a few companies controlling all the wealth, how difficult it is to craft/find good gear, and how some people are dissatisfied with the the lack of PvE raids/world bosses.

Yea and neither will any fresh 60. Youre overthinking the entire system wayyy too much. Its not just easy but its basically not there, you just play the game however you want and the numbers go up :joy::joy::joy:

no, because they will just leave - like they do every month

And you don’t do it as we realize haha

I find it absolutely ridiculous how people can even call that a grind :joy::joy::joy: it doesnt even feel grindy because youre free to do anything in the game and the numbers just go up

Yea clearly the people who are playing now are leaving because of the expertise ““grind”” :joy::joy::joy: lets ignore the fact theyre all at 625gs. They are either taking a break or just playing less because there’s nothing to do. It doesnt take a genius to realize that
