Is it worth returning to New World yet?

The best New World posts are indistinguishable from self-parody, and this one’s a gem, though much of what followed in subsequent posts was far-fetched enough to shatter suspension of disbelief – especially the conspiracy theory part. A subtle touch is necessary for success. Still, major props for the effort.

As for whether it’s worth returning to New World yet, that’s obviously a personal decision, and there most definitely are and will still be plenty of uncorrected issues, but I think the Winter Convergence Holiday Event - 12/14/2021 through 1/11/2022 will be a good time to check in for anyone not already too bitter about the game.

Will it be fun? Possibly. Will there be issues? Definitely.

Worth returning? For a while, anyway.

I plan to be there. YMMV.

just with a grander poop you mean? eeks

If you were unhappy enough to leave, then you wouldn’t be happy after you returned at this point.

I haven’t been on since the new PTR change.

No, it seems to be getting worse

Maybe your server actualy has players to play with but a lot dont atm, I am stuck on very low pop servers.

My server died after PTR. Went from 200 at peak to 43.

It’s not that he was unhappy per se, it’s that there were “many issues”. As I’ve stated all of the issues that I’m personally aware of have been corrected. There have been a few patches and there is also the christmas event going on within the Public Test Realm.

I believe the original poster would be happy returning on the basis that the issues he/she were having have all been corrected.

Wut??? :joy: :joy: :joy:

Because so many people left

Nope.

Not yet, things are getting better, but not yet. Maybe another month.

Lol I gotta think this is a troll

There are more issues now than at any earlier time

My advice is no

yeah, comeback, take it easy and enjoy the journey.

So many people, like you I believe, didn’t understand the game they were getting into. Many new folks to MMOs altogether who just don’t get what playing an MMO is like. And that’s okay… but I’d bet there’s a good chunk of people who left because the game isn’t (and will never be) for them. At a $40 one-time charge, that’s pretty easy to try out.

Of course many also left due to bugs, but you can tell if you’ve played since launch that many don’t understand that a grind and a big time investment is part of MMOs in general… and it’s what many of us like about the genre. If you want instant gratification, no-work high-reward (which you specifically say you want here) – then yea, NW is not the game for you. But there are plenty of games out there that will fit your ask.

Yeah, I am 12 and have never played an MMO.

You are confusing reward with fun. I said FUN. If I meant reward, or rewarding I would have just said that.

Would have to say it depends on your playstyle.

I believe there is alot of good pvp to be had. At least from what I’ve read on the forums. Yes there are problems but pvp is always being tweaked in every game honestly. particually when they add new weapons, ect.

If Story PVE is your love… no… wait a year… there is not one memorable character in this game and 0% immersion. It currently lacks content that makes you feel invested in the world at all expect a really horrible tax systems that has the exact opposite effect of immersion.

Regular PVE is pretty cool, the hunting and exploring is fun and can be exciting at times. If your into raids and such… I don’t know, tried a few, unimpressed honestly, considereing how awesome the outside world is (trees that actually fall and sound like trees falling) I expected a hell of lot more… Time will fix this I feel.

Crafting - maybe cooking, alchemy. But there is no money to made honestly, it’s more of a time/money sink then anything else unfortantly (if the game survives a year i imagine they will somehow make the lower tier items usefull)

no

Hmmm smells kind of fishy and feels liky bait but just in case OP is not from uder the bridge: For love of all gods, avoid this devolving mess.

I’d say no, here is why:

In a month, your GS will be lowered to the value of your HMW and you will have to do this to get it back; Copy paste BTW

  1. You can get 7 Gypsom a day, doing different activities. (OPR, Arena, Gathering, Killing Monster, Killing Boss, Completing Dungeon). Now, some players(allot) dislike some of these activities and won’t have fun doing them(therefore the system is already frustrating because we do not have the choice in how we get our 7 daily Gypsum).

  2. Let say you get 4 Gypsum a day(which is already 1h30), you now need to make cast. This will cost you 600 Gold per. So 2400 Gold a day(now find a way to generate it, another 2h for an average player). For allot of players this is a huge amount and we did not mention that gold will surely deflate because of this new system. (In current gold the same value will probably be double so 4800)

  3. You can only use 1 cast a day for each type of item. This mean, if you play bow and need to get it back to 580 to be able to enjoy the game like you were before the patch, you need a minimum of 20 days. This is assuming +5GS/cast, the datamined value is closer to 3GS/Cast and dropping at high GS this would mean 33 days minimum.

  4. But we are not done, remenber I said that you would grind 4 Gypsum a day, this mean you only crafted 4 cast, that is for 10 gear slot. This mean that for an average player to be back to their previous power they would need 50 days generously or 78 with datamined numbers. (and I’m generous, your average player will most likely make 2 cast a day bumping these values to 100 days and 156 days).

no it kinda got worse. however if you wanna mainly pvp then now is you´re last chance as with the new updates in december and january they gonna turn this into a full pve game and i assume most pvp players will leave then. esp with a proper pvp game launching end if january.
