Is it worth returning to New World yet?

Not only is it not worth coming back but it’s actively gotten worse and going to get even more worse.

It’s the opposite of what you’re saying. All major known issues have been resolved, yet you still have people posting making general statements without any specifics on what is wrong.

Here are just a small number of the reasons New World is the best MMORPG to date:

  1. Quality in the design of the User Interface. The presentation is crystal clear and to the point with specific information about what you the player needs to see. This is in all aspects of game play whether it be combat, trade skills or any other part of the game. For example, when you log in, you are told which region has the closest ping to you. You’re told which worlds have the higher population than others. Yes there are some MMOs which tell you this but not to the detail and specifics as New World has. Another example, when fonts and where the information is presented on the screen is clear and to the point with information the player needs to see.

  2. When gathering, the quality in the sound and visuals is more realistic than any other MMORPG available today. You have the tools in your inventory so you don’t need to have to stop, equip and then gather, it happens with less involvement by the player making the immersion much more meaningful without having mundane excess steps as you find in other MMOs.

  3. Issues are heard, paid attention to, addressed and corrected on a timely basis. You have the option if you want to partake in the testing yourself by joining the Public Test Realm when it is available. Every known issue that I’ve seen on these forums and people mentioned in the game has been corrected. Yet you state there is no good justification for why the game is good, even when some players continue to make general statements such as “All issues aren’t resolved” without in the least bit giving an issue that isn’t resolved! If you state that all issues aren’t resolved, you should be stating exactly which aren’t so you would have credibility in your statements on these forums.

I know that I’m not going to change your mind in the least bit, but you’re stating incorrect information which leads viewers of what you’ve written as fact when it’s far from the truth. If you are genuinely sincere about wanting to know what makes New World the most fantastic MMORPG to date, I can go on, but it would be a massive WALL OF TEXT which I don’t think you’re interested in.

in short atm no
there will be another mass exodus real soon.

  1. User interface is buggy as hell. Friends sometimes show up as offline, or from other factions. That hasn’t changed. Your chat box lags if you have one type of chat muted because you know global chat can be toxic and i dont want any part of it. I now have to unmute it and expose my eyes to that sludge just because i want my chat clean and up to date. My inventory’s thumbnail sometimes bugs out and turns everything into fishes. When i look into the storage in other settlements, the position of the items are sometimes stacked on each other so i have no clue what’s in it while i’m just out questing. I mean sure, yknow, it’s my fault for forgetting, or not knowing what im looking for. My bad.

  2. This is what drew me in. Loved the music, loved the atmosphere, loved the gathering experience thankfully they didnt make the durability of the tools such that they’re one-time use. But that’s because they can’t do that due to the RNG element of the perks in each tool. I could play it as a gathering sim for days. Storage was a bit of a pain, but i could live with that, all part of the experience.

You lost me at your 3rd point about issues being heard. The chest nerf has not been fixed. People are still getting stuck in terrain. People are still clipping through stairs and getting stuck.
Their solution to a lot of bugs is to just disable it. They’re fast at disabling things that’s for sure. I was stuck with so much trash furniture for awhile because i should be punished for going out and opening chests.
They disabled the TP for reasons i’ve forgotten, someone remind me. And they’ll do it again if it’s soemthing they cant fix.
They disabled elementals because they couldnt fix it. Now they’re sure that cant fix it, they’ve REMOVED it. As if the mote economy wasnt already strangled enough.
A lot of dupers got a small slap on the wrist, and they’re back to exploiting the game a week later.
Duping still occurs. And it’s clear from the recent change they can’t reign in the duping, so they time gate the progress. Influence can be reset just by changing the name of a company.
Wars are insanely laggy so the PVP experience that they’ve marketed so heavily isnt even up to snuff. But that’s fine, if you encounter a governor scummy enough to exploit the influence bug, you’ll never get into a war.
The game is heavily dependent on human decency to govern a town and not drive it into the ground. And with the recent announcement of a 50k coin refund per town if you lose ownership, every dominant faction out there is glassing their server in preparation for merge, this only served to bring out the worst in these players. Why the hell such an arbitrarily high refund amount? They’ve already benefited so much from the taxes we pay while playing.

A LOT of players are appreciative of the content, but what’s more important are QUALITY patches. Not quantity that would only serve to bury the problems that are still inherent to the base game.
This isnt even an exhaustive list of why the game is not in a state that anyone should play it. So NO. No one should come back to this game. It’s inherently broken.

Nope

As it currently stands? No.

I would suggest waiting 6-12 months and coming back for a new run then. Within that timeframe either the game will have imploded completely or fixed most of the issues it has now.

That’s very interesting that you consider this to be an issue. I do not. Why? Because in all of the time I’ve played New World the friends list has always shown the friends online. It’s because I scroll down the list. Maybe you don’t. Have you reported this? I have not because I don’t consider this even an issue because my friends list is always accurate as I’ve described in scrolling down the list. If you don’t know of this, you might think this is an issue that needs fixing immediately. I do not consider it even an issue. If a friend changes factions it takes a little bit of time for it to be reflected in the friends list. I still don’t consider this to be an issue of any kind of priority because I know they’ve changed to another faction. I’ve never seen any of the issues you’ve stated with the storage in other settlements. Maybe this is related to your video card? updated drivers? Have you reported it? You’ve not indicated whether you’ve attempted to correct this if others aren’t seeing it then it appears to be something specific to your hardware. I use the feature of viewing storage in other settlements a lot of the time but I’ve not ever seen the issue you’ve described.

I’m not familiar with the “Chest nerf”. If it was a nerf that was changed by the company why would you consider it an issue if it’s not changed back?

I am not aware of anything that was “disabled” to be fixed permanently. I’ve seen people mention this without any specifics on it. I’ve seen things temporarily disabled, but that is not the solution and never has been. Stating “Their(sp) solution to a lot of bugs is to just disable it.” is vastly inaccurate. The company has never done that as a solution. Only temporarily disabled something in order to fix an imbalance. I would rather have something temporarily disabled than to have the entire game shut down just because you don’t like them doing it that way. I’d rather continue playing as I can while the company works on the issues. Once again, all of the issues that were temporarily disabled have been fixed. All issues that I’m aware of personally have been addressed timely and corrected. And as mentioned what you consider to be an “issue” doesn’t affect me because I scroll down to see the friends list and I’ve not ever seen the issue of storage not displayed correctly from another settlement.

You’re focused on the rest of your statements on things that have already been corrected. As stated, I’ll state it again, all known issues have been corrected. At least all of the ones that people have stated on these forums and in the game that I’ve personally seen.

Must be a shock to discover that no one listens to mobs with torches and pitchforks, throwing insults and shit at everything they don’t like.

You bring up UI as a selling point, and then when I say it doesn’t work, you brush it off as a mere inconvenience just because YOU don’t use it. You’re not interested in a discussion, you’re just another white knight who’s incapable of self awareness, who’s so self absorbed that you only care if it affects you. If it’s just others, fuck them amirite. We’re done here. Your walls of text are just complete utter bullshit that ignores the flaws, and only serves to justify AGS’ shitty actions. I hate myself for having engaged in this utterly useless conversation with yet another blind, wilfully ignorant troll. You trolls will be the death of an earnest community…

I feel like the game was basically a beta at launch. Most of the stuff they are releasing recently seems like planned features that didn’t make it into the window they set for release. I would totally say play again in January after whatever major patch they release because after the pitchforking that happens after the December update is sloshed around a bit to the devs some more changes and hopefully server merges will happen by then to make people a little less salty. Still enjoying the game personally with a close group of friends but I also think that is what is saving me from having the angry mentality a lot have atm. If you come back. Come back with a bunch of friends or make them fast because that’s what will make it or break it for you.

Once again, I’m not trying to “sell” you on anything. I already know you’re not going to change how you think things are. I’m not here to change you. You’re not going to change what I think either. You’ve not elaborated on the statements you’ve made. Your statements don’t reflect what you’ve presented and have been inaccurate.

This was interesting at first but now you’ve moved on to making insults which leads me to believe that you’ve admitted the things you’ve stated were inaccurate.

Lol the white knights couldn’t handle some criticism, so they flagged my post. Always a good sign

You only quit for like a month nothing changed. Wait a year and then come back.

you can come back and waste your time until dev decide to change it up again and screw everyone over so yea… pretty sure Joe Biden is running AGS cause the dude never made one right decision in his life.

Hi sushileaf,

Fellow launch player here. Since this is a b2p game and you’ve already paid, you have nothing to lose by taking as long a break as you want from the game, and popping in whenever you feel like it to see how things are going and how you feel about it. Because in the end, how you feel about it and what you enjoy is all that matters.

I would encourage you to come back because if you do, you may enjoy the game or you may not - but if you don’t keep trying, you won’t know either way. It doesn’t have to be a large commitment. Play for half an hour. Leave it for a few days. If you feel like playing some more, do it. If you don’t, hold off. But I do think playing will give you more insight into your relationship with the game than anything you read on these forums.

Whatever the actual faults of the game, you will not get an objective or rational appraisal on social media. There are many complex reasons for this. Follow your heart. Play or don’t play, but follow your heart, not anyone else’s. It’s the only way to be happy.

Avoid this “game” like the plague.

The best New World posts are indistinguishable from self-parody, and this one’s a gem, though much of what followed in subsequent posts was far-fetched enough to shatter suspension of disbelief – especially the conspiracy theory part. A subtle touch is necessary for success. Still, major props for the effort.

As for whether it’s worth returning to New World yet, that’s obviously a personal decision, and there most definitely are and will still be plenty of uncorrected issues, but I think the Winter Convergence Holiday Event - 12/14/2021 through 1/11/2022 will be a good time to check in for anyone not already too bitter about the game.

Will it be fun? Possibly. Will there be issues? Definitely.

Worth returning? For a while, anyway.

I plan to be there. YMMV.

just with a grander poop you mean? eeks

If you were unhappy enough to leave, then you wouldn’t be happy after you returned at this point.
