I speak as a pvp player, who started playing this game exclusively for pvp, with a pvp guild.
Currently doing open world pvp is the worst thing you can do in this game.
you have no progression
you have no income (money)
do not raise the watermark
you cannot organize more than 5 people, because there is no raid squad
there is no commander icon to put on the raid leader
only spend money on repair
50 people are enough at a point that the lag makes everything unplayable (and we are in a mmorpg, 50 people in pvp should be the minimum).
Even wanting to do Outpost Rush pays nothing:
do not raise the watermark or raise it very little
you cannot join 20 people in a competitive and organized way
you cannot play with the guild, but only together with 4 other guild groups and hope that the other 3 groups, will end up in the same team as you, but it never happens, indeed, it also happens that one of the groups remains out even if in queue for various bugs.
When do you decide to make pvp fun?
Now the game is only farming of elite mobs and elite chests. Because you can’t progress by playing pvp and having fun.
New World architecture looks like its far from being able to play with a lot of people in the same area when its the open world.
Fun fact, one night when there was a big open world fight on my server, i wanted to join, i approched the castle and i was TP back instantly to the city ( 1km away) with a short notice :
Too much player in the area, you have been teleported.
So i think you can forget open pvp.
And honestly at the momen i’m speaking, pvp is useless and pointless anyway.
They would need a huge patch & really good gamedesign to make it happen, and we don’t even know if the engine is able to do so. And from what i’ve seen ( means 40pple in the same area and its already unplayable ) i think waiting for a open world pvp feature is just a dream.
I created almost 20+ post around Endgame idea since BETA 1, there was probably 10 Post like mine every day. And here we are. so… make your own conclusion but i’m not super optimistic
That was a very easily predictable behavior from players. AGS’s response to it was a ham-fisted, knee jerk response rather than just making the starting areas protected spots.
Either way, there were 3 alpha periods AFTER that time where they continued to make major changes, both good and bad. Creating optional flagging didn’t kill PvP as people still heavily engaged in PvP during the preview event last year.
Killing the good combat systems over the last 12 months killed PvP more than any other decision AGS has made.
if the game director said literraly that it was the fault of PVP players then this guy is probably the biggest scammer of game director in the world.
Because you know, as director you have the power to change rules, and there is 2000 exemples of rules that can still make pvp great, while avoiding ganking newbies
Blaming players for how to play your game really makes no sense.
If you, AGS you have to create rules to prevent players from playing the game incorrectly and guide them in playing it correctly.
But to do that you also need to understand how players want to play open world pvp in a mmorpg, that being a mmorpg you can’t imagine it being played as a battle royale or as a small multiplayer game.
It is normal that if you limit 100 players per guild, the players of a mmorpg create more guilds. It is normal that even if you put the possibility of making only groups of 5, the guilds move into zerg of 50 players. We are in a mmorpg not in a small multiplayer game. The game director must realize that we are not on rust or ark, but we are in a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE.
