No it doesn’t sound like that.
While we understand to some players this may result in a temporary reduction in power, we believe in the long run this will result in more rewarding progression loop that can’t be bypassed by buying gear off the trading post.
I have to believe that would be written differently if it was going to be a full reset.
What makes you say this? Yes, they do things in the game with out saying but right now this a conspiracy theory. There is no indication it will be reset. They seem to be trying to reward people who have grinded. They system has been tracking your WM this whole time and now it will be displayed for you.
that would be messed up if they reset people’s progress just like that. I don’t see a fair scenario for them here other than forgetting about the gear wm reduction until a new hwm cap is released
Basically crafters are worthless now and you can’t sell any loot bc of new “expertise”

Yes, the watermark isn’t going away. Whatever you have will stay. The thing they are changing is, if your watermark is only 500, but you are using 600gs that you purchased, you will be downscaled to 500 (might be 520 minimum)
