Yeah true. Thankfully we can rejoice in the fact that the anti pvp-ers lurking in every pvp thread are just a handfull of people that have 0 influence on neither devs nor the community.
Their opinions probably don’t even reach the ears of a community mod lol.
How would that split the player base, considering PVP players are already not on the game anymore.
There is no forcing a playstyle. PVE only servers means that you are splitting the PVP players among several different servers and the chances of finding another player flagged is minimal.
So you pile up two issues:
You push away the majority of PVP players and they don’t play the game
The minority that remains is split among PVE centric servers where they can’t find anybody else
A PVP server has no impact on your PVE server, you don’t have to play on that server and PVP players have a playground. Again, one has to wonder what PVE players are scared of. Nobody forces you to play on PVP servers, so the only option that it leaves is that they are concerned they might realize there is actually a PVP community, that that community is larger than the PVE community (for a game like NW) and that the game goes back to an actual PVP game because Amazon sees the reverse opportunity.
It is pretty sad the egoism of PVE players not wanting a PVP server ON WHICH THEY NEVER HAVE TO SET FOOT. PVP players are not asking to remove PVE servers, they are asking for one server of their own. While PVE players do not want PVP servers, even though it has no impact on them.
I saw themiscyra is the new designated super server for PVP. Looks like all the top companies are moving over there. That could have easily been a PVP server full instead. But here we are xD (It’s already got over 2000 concurrent)
The biggest argument i see is that there aren’t enough people to fill a PVP server, yet somehow this will damage the playerbase by splitting it all up if all 500 total of us that apparently exist suddenly left the servers.
I think the threat is that it might be alarmingly successful, and that looming uncertainty could change the course of the game. Possibly pulling in more people who currently do not play the game. Who knows, it’s an unknown.
Maybe that happens, maybe it doesn’t. Maybe, just maybe, they go medium high pop and do just fine, and nothing else changes. And all the PVP players have a happier home. It’s anyones guess!
I would prefer they modify existing servers to better separate pve and pvp, because i do love my home. But i also want to see an opportunity created for those who want a server to call home themselves.
there already spamming the ashes of creation forums which is a PvX game advertised as such and so on crying about pvp trying to get it changed or removed too which is what i find hilarious
yeeep and then 95% of them fudged off a month after released to go back to there previous game
i do wonder what would of happened population wise if they kept to there vision and maybe altered it a little bit like toning back death penalty instead of removing pvp all together pretty much.
In order to have a PvP only server NW would have to balance classes based on 1 Vs. 1’s. NW is built on gank style grp battles. A switch to a 1 vs 1 pvp based sys is a huge change. It would result in a more balanced combat between classes as well as displaying more accurately who the top PKs truly are. Healer’s would need to be restricted to more targeted style healing and would probably require the most changes in order to align new world into true PvP playstyle.
Much of the problems come precisely from the stats. They are too significant in how it affects the attack power of a weapon, the attack power of the weapon should be “standard” and we should build up stats more than anything to obtain the bonuses that interest us more than to increase the damage of the weapons themselves . In this way, it would be much easier to balance everything, because you would already have a much clearer idea of when a lifestaff could heal or how much damage a musket could do, in addition to giving you the possibility of using the weapon you want and not depending on whether they share stats or not.
These are pretty big changes and AGS is unlikely to want to do things like this at this time. The dev time required will most likely not be worth the return on investment. There will also be other changes requested by the community so more work for them.
Problem with PVP servers is that it’s mostly who can bring bigger numbers to the fight. People like to win and as soon as they start losing they either quit or they join the stronger faction/group and then you get a one-sided server.
Can’t really enjoy OW PvP when people run into safe zones ALL OVER THE MAP. PvP system still needs some type of immediate loot rewards, as well as a better deterrent to being killed beyond repairing armor. A GF system that will accept PvP flagged players regardless of expedition grp make-up, just make it so exp grp members can’t hurt one another. Other NW dynamics are making it difficult for players to remain flagged as well.
You are assuming that the absolute majority of PVP players visit this forum. Not even one could assert something like that most of the PVE players or the current players in general visit it. Something tells me you’re not very smart.
