Is there any incentive to join a losing faction?

In my server purple dominates.

When I go to a city the population is like 80% purple, 15% green and 5% yellow. Even in the general chat people recommend against joining yellow.

So is there any reason to join yellow or green at all? Maybe the game should give perks to people so it balances out?

I can dig it.

The game engine applies steadily greater penalties to the “winning” faction and buffs to the lesser factions. There are benefits to each, and the benefit to playing on a ‘losing’ side is that the game is basically easier to play.

I don’t believe there are any ‘Perks’; there are just bragging rights if you can put together a group capable of bringing down the sizeable entrenched group of people who have claimed a region.

There’s still 7 unclaimed territories? Wow!

Kinda surprised that’s all the land claimed in your server. We’ve had all the territories claimed on my server for like 3 days now. Purple is overwhelming on my server as well, yellow is dead last and green is slowly dying because the top company for them is taxing the hell out of their towns @ 20+% in each city.

I’ve been looking for a Server like that for my Alt where one of the factions is almost entirely absent. What server is that so I may Join yellow asap? I’d deploy guerrilla warfare and make it so not a single purple is brave enough to walk alone.

What dead server is that? Is that a picture from today?

Can I see those penalties in game anywhere? They should be upfront when a player is trying to join a faction.

I think Purple just appeals more to the type of person playing a MMO (gamer person that tends to spend lots of time on computers, aka more likely to be a computer nerd that likes logic, source me)

Purple makes their case being about ‘mystery magic and using logic and reasoning’ (which appeals to a lot of gamers since they use logic a lot)

Green sounded like I was going to be a good boy police officer warrior saving those in need.

Yellow was just too over-the-top with trying to be everyone’s friend / super spiritual. Maybe the factioneer was just off-putting to me with that.

Personally, knowing what I know now, I might’ve picked green because I don’t like being in the majority. But oh well, I’m stuck with Purple so might as well enjoy it and honestly I’ve been getting a lot of faction play so I’m enjoying it.

It’s my first MMO since runescape, so it’s nice to do stuff together with my purple people eaters

If you consider 3 Territories with the rest unclaimed to be “Domination” then this probably isn’t the game for you, just saying.

They are plenty of opportunity for the other factions to get together and BUY the other towns. Its 1 WEEK in the game, there are people who are already Level 60. There is no excuse for the Covenant of Marauders as a faction not being able to raise up 100k to buy one of those towns.

I plan to play a losing faction, Goal is to Build a small Covenant company from them becoming decimated on my server. Two reasons is I love playing the underdog factions, second is I find this particular challenge will have significant rewards in the end. Just my thoughts.

That is a pretty good idea.

My company and I have observed that underdog factions build influence in a territory MUCH faster than the owning company can push it back, and I understand invasions increase in frequency and severity the longer a province has been held and the more it has been developed. But other than that I don’t know of any more specifics. Seeing them in a game menu would be great and go a long way to keeping things balanced.

There actually is psychology for why people often do not like yellow.

It is one of the most fatiguing colors visually.
It often signals frustration and energy.

It is identified across cultures with cowardice and caution.

Wars for territory are not entire faction vs. entire faction, they have caps for how many can participate on either side.

I won’t pretend that having more players isn’t an advantage, but it is somewhat tempered.

I don’t think so and that’s a problem u should definitely get increased xp, mastery, and or luck depending how out numbered your faction is.

That has to be a new server, give it more time I mean at start of my last new server, purp were first to own one zone, then two. Now they got 3 and every one has 2 zones, and its more a race early game over who can get the most “donations” like that server I was purp and there was a new guild leader starting a global chat donation telethone almost every day going “were only at 55k people come on have heart, help purp own more land and we will be the first to put in a t3 kitchen!”

Then you donate an 10 minutes later after that guild reaches like 70k a group at 90k is like “really you gave them 15k, we just need 10k more and we can get our second fort faster, donate to my comapany now, come on its just 500 gold x 20 people we got this!” And when its done the one guild I donated to gets greedy puts freaking all taxes on high, its like really, I should donated to other guys their settlement is on low for crafting and medium for trade, should let them buy that settlement now they got the level 30 one I wont see that place for a few days and got pay these high ass taxes now…
