Is this 3rd party mini map allowed?

Dude what no no? That should be in game since long long time ago, i have the feelings like you making a game and never played it, New World is a mmorpg with most beautifull graphic, but all the rest is most annoing, not comofrtable to play at all.

Unless they set up auto detects and auto ban you which happens in other games. I dont know the set up of the addon so not sure if it or cannot be auto detected. Until Amazon say yes or no you are playing around with getting a ban.

Then why did i work so hard to hit 200 logging in order to track Ironwood, if all i needed was a minimap addon?

This is a long thread, cut I’m curious, what’s the difference between this mod that doesn’t show mob locations, player locations, PvP points, influence trackers, or any actual data except for locations of nodes and other notable things around you, and running one of the browser maps (that the data is pulled from ) on a second monitor like I currently do? I’m not a mods person, but years of gaming experience going back to the original EverQuest, I’ve learned how to orientate myself easily using external maps. So no minimap isn’t a big deal for me, but for younger generation gamers I can understand. I just don’t see how the difference is from my experience as stated, and a minimap. Should I be banned for using map genie on my second monitor? So any use of external information is a banable offense? Apologies if this has been answered.

The problem (and the difference with your external browser map) is that the mod is reading data from the game client in order to show you where you are on that minimap and keep updating it as you move.

If your browser map is also reading data from the game client to show your location (or whatever else dynamicly based on your client), it’s also against the TOS.

It doesn’t do that I’m afraid. Lol. It’s just NewWorld-map.com.

Hi guys,

Can you reply to this ? on ESP forum told us that is not bannable if i understand properly, sorry but my spanish ist perfect…

Dont worry guys. for now the overwolf minimap is officialy allowed. u wont get banned.

Yeah but, where i can find this “Official allowed” ?

I can only read “Is bannable” after two days “Is not bannable” and so on…

You can’t. The Overwolf Minimap was not allowed at any time. The latest statement says that they now consider addons as “fine” which only use your own position to show a map - no external sources for any other data.

But the Overwold Minimap DOES use external data sources (the info from newworld-map.com) and because of that it is not one of the addons that is now allowed.

Yeah… Iam really confudes, too… Every mini map tool now, is showing nodes…

Highly contradictory! O.o

HAHAHAHA that’s hilarious…their website says one thing, and then they tell Amazon “What? No! It totally doesn’t do that” :innocent:

Its the reply from the CM from yesterday, so it is indeed official

"Greetings Adventurers,

We continue to discuss this particular addon with Overwolf. For now, we have made the decision that client-controlled addons which solely use the position of the player in the world are fine. However, if the functionality changes in a way that violates our Terms of Service, such as integrating other web sites to determine where nodes, paths or safe/unsafe areas of the map are, we will first provide an official change in our stance, and then take action.

Thank you for your patience."

they will warn the players before they ban them, if the functionallity of the minimap changes.

You are late for the party, we know the statement and have been talking about it.

Like so many others you did not understand the statement. Probably you read it with what you want in mind instead of objectively. The statement does not say “we will warn you before banning you in case THE MINIMAP changes”.

The Overwolf Minimap is ONLY affected by this statement by the VERY FIRST sentence. That sentence said they continue their discussion. After this sentence, the statement talks about “addons which solely use the position of the player”. THESE are fine. The Overwolf Minimap is NOT one of these (it uses external data). Therefore it is NOT fine.

After that they say if any of the addons that are fine (you know, those ONLY using the position of the player) change what they do and thus become “no longer fine”, that they will warn players about this before taking action. Again - the Overwolf Minimap is completely out of the picture because it never was one of the addons that are ok, because it does not only use the player position.

It is truly amazing how many people are unable to understand what is written.

they will 100% warn players before banning them no matter how
pessimistic u guys are.

That wasn’t the point at all. Actually if you had read the rest, people don’t actually expect that they BAN someone for the forbidden minimap at all. The discussion is about if it is allowed or not (it isn’t), not if they ban for it or not (they probably won’t even though they didn’t allow it).

We can close this thread now. They’ve made an official announcement that it is indeed “Allowed”. Thanks for the discussion fam <3

if you had read the last few posts you would have noticed how funny your reply is and how you are one of the many unable to understand what they wrote

Luckily the team has now also noticed that LOTS of people are simply UNABLE to understand what they wrote and clarified it AGAIN 15 minutes ago.

Overwolf Minimap uses resources from an external website (it pulls from newworld-map.com). It was never allowed and is not allowed now. It is sad that I made about 20 posts explaining this in detail and people still won’t understand but there you go - official straight from the developer answer: FORBIDDEN and they will take action if they find out.

I wonder if the discussion will still go on now with people intentionally misunderstanding statements.

Hey all, we have clarified our stance on this. I’m closing the topic, but feel free to check out the official news section in case we need to communicate further on the subject.

Thanks :vulcan_salute:
