The actions are that of a single handed weapon. Look at the position of the arm and should closest to the screen when the swing happens.
If this is dagger, it is a single use weapon. Maybe mace/flail?
Torch? Anyone remember the torch from Alpha testing, before Alpha 3? The only time I played with the torch was during the destiny Stress Test event. That is when I began my time with New World. Back to what I was thinking… It does look like the torch from previous testings.
Devs mentioned that Great Sword is focused on stance switching gameplay. Clip shown could be 1-handed stance of Great Sword like the myrk commanders (fire sword)
Samurai mobs in ebonscale are the 2-hand stance that you can switch to.
And any of this footage could be upwards of 3 or 4 years old. There was a scene where they showed characters exploring and one of them was carrying a torch.
So the screenshots/scene could just as likely be animation work/testing for the torch.
Sorry, but the look of the item is too small to be a great sword.

Looks like a MACE to me because greatsword is two-handed and he is using only one hand.
Yeah. Someone on reddit said this was Alpha footage based on UI. Likely hatchet(?) or mace when Ignite was still a perk.
Yeah, the purple bar above the skill bar is before Alpha 3. I do not recall seeing it in the Destiny test either… However, I do remember alpha footage prior to my time testing that had that purple bar above the skill bar.
Give tanks shield and mace!

Hopefully it’s not just another strength weapon else the forum will uproar with fury.

Considering what it is, you can’t just make up what you want for it.
The only other 2 options I see are STR only or STR primary/Con Secondary.
Pure con weapon would be more in the lines of tankers/defender type. So expect a combination like Shield and flail for PURE CON build.
As for Focus, use it for things that tend to be more wild in nature. Lightning perhaps? I can see lightning be pure Focus or Focus/Con type magic.
The big thing is, what type of weapon would it be. Maybe Wand or staff?
I can see Daggers being Dex/Focus. Especially if it becomes a DoT type (poison/bleed) type skill weapon.
