Is this the edge of the world, or anything special? New World's version of the Aurora Borealis?

I decided to fish South of First Light and then I noticed this was right in front of me and I noticed I was at the edge of the world then. I only see this in this spot, not the whole ocean beach, is this anything special, or showing it to be a visible barrier, whereas, other MMOs have invisible ones?
