Don’t get me wrong, I loved the arena and I spent all day playing with my friends, it was really good!
However, after they logged out, I tried to go solo a few times and it was the worst experience I had in the game, much worse than a bad group in OPR.
I like the randomness factor in pvp, both in your allies and in your enemies, but there is an urgent need to create two “queues” in the arenas. One for formed groups (where there will really be a disputed and interesting pvp) and one only for those who apply solo (where the random factor will be the great fun of the battles).
Hardly any “random group” will have the slightest chance against a group of friends.
Trust me as someone who spent way too long playing MOBAs. Solo queue will always be ass. Control yourself and only play with your friends. For the sake of your own sanity.
I played in pre-made groups and solo queue. If Im being hinest some times my pre-mades were with casual players in my company and the solo queue teammates were actually more skilled in pvp.
I stomped quite a few groups that all had the same faction color icon. No guarantee they were a pre-made but thats thr only indication to go by.
I did also get steam rolled by a few very well coordinated premade groups. A full bruiser and stun lock group, a ice and flamethrower mage comp with one healer, a bow/spear and sword stun lock and stagger group.
Its definitely playable solo entry but yes at the higher competitive level you’ll want to be in comms coordinating your fight.
I won morr than I lost and I solo queued for the most part. I did try to recruit a pre-made pug group for arenas out of the recruitment chat. On my 2nd match the game server lagged though and kicked me to desktop screen.
I might try doing that more. I may even start to know some of the player names and roll with them even ifnee arent in the same comms.
