It is just a bad start, population will come back soon!

Edit 11/26/21 : We agree this doesn’t mean the game is dead, but it’s sad. I hope it is just a bad start.

I doubt, it’s a normal trend as many says… It should’t be so brutal.

EDIT : As few of you complaining that I took the highest peak vs today slack time :
The current peak is 350k on November 2nd. So Approximately 2.6 time less than the Peak of 913k early October.

The slack was 592k in early October, beginning November it’s 126K so 5 times less.

This isn’t alarming ??

Unfortunately it’s due to 90% of the game not being playable due to bugs/exploits/dupes.

They need to fire and hire a new head of Amazon Games to get things in shape.

It started out as a normal MMO launch.

Then it drove into a wall, fell off a cliff, tripped over a shovel and shot themselves in the foot with a blowdart.

So yeah it’s probably a fair bit worse than your average launch

350k during peak hours…final fantasy online has 35k at peak hours elder scrolls online has 29k at peak hours. This means even after the expected falloff of players it holds 10x the population of either of those games.

Both of those games have their own launchers. I don’t play ESO through steam.

130k*

edit: …129k

Very few long term FFXIV players use steam, the old keys do not transfer over. Like 8 years of accounts run on the stand alone client, not the steam engine.

FFXIV right now is on absolute player fire.

In October 2021, the website listed the game as having nearly 34 million total players. FF XIV producer and game director Naoki Yoshida, on the other hand, reportedly revealed that the game recently surpassed 24 million active players.

Wow some people really dedicated their life monitoring daily players, and yes a down thread is normal, people reach level 60 and does not have anything to do, waiting for next expansion is part of MMO

fair point…after some digging ESO has around 190k in 2021

Good, more minning nodes for me!

cant find a reliable source outside steam atm…few places list around 196k but can’t be sure.

Yes it’s not crazy numbers, but ESO is ticking along nicely and there have been some good updates lately.

oh i hear u…it was more pointing out that the numbers for new world are sustainable, at least for now.

True, if NW can sustain those numbers it’ll be fine in the long run.

They are at something ridiculous like 2.5M concurrent players these days and the amount of hype around the next expansion on Nov 23rd is pretty huge. A bunch of articles came out a few months back about how it’s beginning to pass WoW’s concurrent playerbase (mostly because WoW is a dirty perverted trash fire)

I’m not skilling for FFXIV or anything but yeah the game is the big.

But i’m super happy if NW can maintain 100-200k players once they condense the servers down and clean up the bugs/exploits. I love NW and am excited to see it’s future… In the meantime it’s comical to watch all the goings-on

If i remember correctly FFXIV was AWFUL at launch…and they had to redo nearly all of it lol, but managed to do so and make it into what it is now.

Yeah, seeing drops like this is not unexpected. Initially everyone is playing as much as possible. Now a month later people are not playing as much and might not play every day. For example I went from playing 12 hours a day the first week to a couple of hours a day or every other day now due to having done most of what I want, being burned out and discouraged by exploiters.

Also remember that since this game doesn’t have a subscription, it’s much easier to just stop playing and come back later.

Yeah 10 (ish) years ago when they launched 1.0 it was terrible.

Then they fired all their staff, hired on all new people and made 2.0 (Realm Reborn) which literally took blowing up the world of 1.0 as part of it’s main story.

Nowadays, it’s a damn good game.

Well i don’t think new world is in nearly that bad of shape, but changes and fixes obviouslly need to occur. If FF can do it im sure amazon can pull this off.

If they could have made new stuff instead of new bugs, it would have been alot better. If this goes on for much longer, with new bugs, exploits and downtime every day, it’s going to be a mess.
Ofc people want new stuff when they reach 60 but the amount of bugs, makes it difficult to implement new stuff right now.

It’s a loose loose
